Snow Happened

Greetings dear readers!  Two days ago I showed you snowdrops in bloom and now look.  They are buried in the snow.  Poor little flowers!  We are in the midst of a full-out blizzard.  My dear "personal photography assistant" took my phone out to capture some images for me.  What a guy.  Here's our humble little farmhouse.

I actually took some photos from the warmth inside - this is our little forest from our master bedroom, we have French doors facing the woods.

This is from our family room of the front yard and the edge of the old porch.

The chicken house, garage, trailer, Dayle's Ford Exporer, the C-Dory boat and the barn.  We own the land up to the forest you see at the back.

Our beloved barn that Dayle designed and built for our dairy goat herd of Nubian goats.

This is part of our circular driveway, the roadway is covered with snow.  The bay window you see is behind our easy chairs and where our Christmas cactus plants live.

A closer shot of our 1906 farmhouse.  I am so happy I convinced Dayle we should paint it red!

From our driveway looking West towards Portland.

The barn and pasture, plus a walnut, birch and wild cherry tree.

Dayle snapped a shot of his little Bonsai tree with snow inside.

The daffodils are hanging in there.. I hope they will still bloom.

We have a boulder there next to the Japanese Lace-leaf Maple tree.

One last capture before coming in to warm up.  He gave chickens some warm water, refilled the hummingbird feeder and fed the wild birds.  They are getting water from pond and creek.

We are warm and well and ready to have lunch soon.  I hope you are doing well from your corner of the spinning globe we all share.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  3. We got a half inch of snow last night and my daffodils are peeking out looking very confused today. We are expecting ice tonight and tomorrow and that has me very worried. The last ice storm we had caused major damage. Araignee

  5. The first snows I always think look so magical and like icing on a cake! I must admit I really hate the cold yet the snow does added a special quality to this gorgeous tour of your homestead. You have a beautiful home! Many thanks for sharing. Stay safe, warm and cosy. Amanda x

  9. It does look very pretty Teresa, but you can keep it there. We've been lucky so far. The snow has been falling about 10 miles south of us all day! We're supposed to get some on Sunday though. I hope not, we have no running water. One thing at a time is enough. Our water source at our site is frozen. Our heated hose is fine, but the campgrounds heat tape to the spigot has failed. The maintenance man is in Mexico on vacation until Tuesday so apparently it's up to us to repair it if we want water. And we pay big $$$ for this place too! We hauled 15 gallons of water from a friends house tonight so we could have showers tomorrow...if the pipes aren't frozen too. All was well until last night! Would you believe the park has been sold 3 times since we moved here in August? Four different managers. We do like our spot though and our neighbors are great.
Stay warm my friend and we'll do the same.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  11. We are getting more snow all week to add to all of the snow we have on the ground already. My daffodils won't be popping out for quite a while yet - it's good that they are staying warm and cozy in the ground.
Your land and buildings are lovely - the care you and Dayle give to your property really shows the beauty surrounding you.

  12. What a lovely pictures Teresa! You live in such a beautifull place! Very peacefull with the snow around! Your daffodills probably will survive the snow. In the Netherlands we have snow and frost since a week, and it is no nice now the roads are good again. All the children have to learn ice skating. All the young parents suddenly found enough little skates and skiing clothes for their little ones! I was working in kindergarden for four days, and it was lovely at the playgrounds! Red cheeks and wet noses. Lol!

  13. What beautiful views from your windows. I love the snow but we haven't had much here. It looks pretty but so slippery underfoot.

  14. The snow spread all over your homestead is so beautiful! The East wind piled the snow in huge drifts in our neighborhood. On my patio there is a drift that is over four feet high. The hummingbird feeder froze, but I was able to take it down and thaw it and the two faithful hummingbirds that claim it as their own dove down to me talking to me about the situation as I rehung the feeder. Thanks for sharing the beauty around you with us, Teresa. Love and ((hugs))

  15. Your home and property are just lovely. It looks so peaceful and quiet. We are in a deep freeze and the birds are visiting the feeders much more often than usual.

  16. The peace of the pictures.......may it surround your whole family in calm . We have tons of snow. It is 1 degree out right now. It is a lovely scene however. And since the snowblower is working, we are pretty cool with it

  17. Your home is lovely all blanketed in the snow! We have snow and yesterday had ice. Just to be romantic on Valentine's Day we ventured outside and chipped ice from the downspouts allowing them to flow freely when it warms. Stay warm and cozy!
