Trim, Roses and Being Real

Hello my friends.  I wanted to show you how pretty the trim on the front porch looks which Kristi is painting.  Our next project is to replace the porch boards which have deteriorated and re-paint the porch deck.  The front facing boards on the steps down will also be painted red, soon.

Kristi picked a bouquet of roses from our garden and put them on the table.  They are all fragrant and lovely.

These two are called "Double Delight" roses and smell divine.

IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY MY "POLITICAL COMMENTARY" ON MY BLOG - PLEASE READ NO FURTHER.  THANK YOU.

I was criticized this week on Facebook for talking on my blog about my concerns about our current administration.  In fact the discussion got heated which ended up in one family member being "un-friended" and blocked by another family member.  This made me so sad.

I have thought long and hard about this and have come to the conclusion that I have to be "real" on my blog.  I cannot put on rose-colored glasses and pretend that I'm not thoroughly concerned about the social climate of my country.

I really appreciate those that disagree with me and that still like me enough to read my words and stick with me.  You know who you are.  :-)  I also really appreciate those that agree with me and have my back during these difficult times.

I don't need to tell you what is happening this week in our political arena, most of you are seeing it on the news even around the world.  But the tide is turning a bit and people are beginning to take a stand on not accepting the white supremacist behavior of the person in the White House and his entire team.

There is hope.  Thank you for reading this far.  You get a gold star.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Teresa, I have been missing for a wile with my son being ill. I am so sorry things got heated on Facebook. I was alerted to a post by a friend to another friends that was defending Trump and the words he choses to say all the while saying no president has ever been under this kind of scrutiny. I went back three times to say something but I didn't. I was to angry and frankly Fox news the entire time Obama was president placed him under that kind of scrutiny. The reason it is so much worse now is because this president is so much worse. It is horrific all he has said and done. We should not be surprised by his words or actions, this is what people voted for. Thank God not me!

Your house looks so wonderful. IT was wonderful before but the red just seems to make each angle of the house interesting. Love your flowers and might I add the boys are getting so big!

    Hang in there my friend.

  2. I am with you in spirit Teresa, I'm sorry the political situation in your country is spilling over into your family but this is what happens when so much hate and bigotry is spoken by such an ignorant person. I hope you all have a peaceful weekend, Fiona x

  3. Those roses are lovely. Luckily, we live in a free country and can voice our opinions. I admire you in that you are true to yourself. Right now I kinda feel like those naive people who voted for Morsi (Egypt) and found out they got someone completely the opposite! Enjoy your lovey family and garden. Pat xx

  4. Your house looks absolutely stunning!I can't wait to see it all finished! As for your political views, I'm with you all the way! For anyone who was raised with any decency, morals, integrity, etc.,they knew how wicked, evil and hateful Trump was and if they didn't, shame on them for not doing their homework before voting for him! It's not too late to wake up,get involved and speak out against all the hate, bigotry, misogyny, and whatever other disgusting beliefs this jerk stands for.

  6. This is your blog and you should be able to express yourself honestly on it. Those who don't like it can choose not to read it. On a lighter not, your choice of new house colour is lovely, very Nordic. As for your roses, oh my, they are exquisite. I have never seen a Double Delight before but would love to get one for my garden.

  7. Dear Teresa. I am so sorry to hear that you got criticised for voicing your opinion on this blog, via FB. This is your blog and you should always feel comfortable to write whatever you want. Your world view is part of what makes you the person you are. I feel honoured to have met you here in this place. I don't often comment on anything political on my blog, not because I don't have an opinion but because I think I am not articulate enough to put into words what can be really strong feelings. Watching the news is like watching a bad sitcom, not a day passes when Mr Trump doesn't do or say something unspeakably awful or plain stupid. I am hopeful that the tide is turning now because this man single handedly threatens to rip the fragile threads that hold the world together.

    I am sending you love.
The roses you show us today are beautiful, I have never seen this variety before, really stunning. xx

  8. I just wanted to say that we are about to move the the USA for my husbands work for several years with our children, friends have asked if I don't have concerns given the current politics and I am able to reply, thanks to people like you who do speak out, that the words of one man are not representative of the country and I know many people who profoundly disagree with his words.

  10. You are right on target with your views and you just keep right on sharing them. He is not my President and never will be. We continue to go backwards under this reign. Thank you and thanks for sharing your pictures. Your place looks lovely.

  11. The house looks stunning and your roses are beautiful. I totally agree with you re: 45, his cronies and his republican tea party. They are a danger to our country and the planet. We MUST take back America.

  12. Your porch looks fabulous! Trying to get back on track with blogging so I haven't been following anything.... I'll have to go back a few and check it all out ;)

And good for you on speaking your mind, whether I agree with you or not isn't the point, we live in a country with the right to freedom of speech and we should all be adult enough to allow people to speak their opinions on anything, including politics and politicians, in a civilized and respectful manner.

  13. Well done for speaking out for what is good and right Teresa. I'm sorry you have had some negative feedback and unkindness, that is unnecessary. I agree with all you say about Trump, he is an abomination and I still can't believe he is the leader of the free world. He doesn't seem stable and his beliefs are just plain bad.

Your house is looking wonderful, what a beautiful job you are all making of it. I hope you have a good weekend. CJ xx

  14. The painting and the roses are gorgeous! I am so glad I have the opportunity to get to know you and your concerns through your blog, my friend; and I am so sorry to hear about the negative FB experience you had this week. :( For me it highlights the root of the problem we have on a county, state, national and world level. Communicating respectfully and constructively on issues that are of vital concern to all of us and working toward the best consensus is so important to me. How can we individually and corporately better promote love and peace? Sending you lots of hugs and wishing you a happy weekend! :)

  15. Thanks for the gold star! ;-) We must all speak up against this evil that is surrounding us now. We simply cannot repeat the sins of the past in this country. The only way to do that is to stand up proud and loud against it. You have a very interesting and fun blog. You mustn't let anyone tell you otherwise.

  16. Your home is looking beautiful Teresa and I can imagine the smell from the roses..mmm. You know how I feel about blogs..I chose my way and you have the right to chose yours. I just chose to keep politics and religion well away from social media. It's not that it does not concern me or that I see life through rose tinted glasses, it's just that it is something I debate only in person...and yes it does get heated sometimes. However the internet enables some people to write insults which would never ever be said if they were face to face! I'm sorry you had issues on FB..again it's why I do not comment on there about religious or politics. I treasure our blogging friendship and I fully respect your way of doing things. Differences are what makes the world go around. I can read what I want to read so no problem here at all. It's your blog and I get a gold star today ;0) Enjoy a lovely weekend, hugs xxx

  17. I love the beautiful colour of your home, what a great job. I am saddened that you are having problems with FB we are all entitled to an opinion whether we agree with it or not. I like many others value your opinion and your friendship, stay strong.

  18. Hello Teresa. I am sorry to read about 'the unpleasantness' you have been experiencing. I love your blog. I happen to agree with your views but if I didn't I would still read what you write. It is your blog as well, and up to you what you write. I really don't understand why people have to be nasty.
On a lighter note those roses look stunning. Hugs dear friend, stay strong and true. Anne xxx

  19. A gold star for you Teresa for keeping it real and being honest. The world seems to be growing more hateful and hurtful day by day. It is sad. On a bright note, your house is looking gorgeous and those roses are amazing!

  20. Oh no, I'm sorry that your Facebook post caused drama! I have been a drama-causer on facebook, I've unfriended (and actually no longer talk to) a distant relative that disagreed with me on abortion because she was just so nasty. She ended up commenting on every one of my posts about how I was a baby killer! (FYI, I have never had an abortion, am just pro-choice and went to a pro-choice demonstration). I can have relationships with people that disagree with my views, but when they start attacking you, you have to put your foot down. This is your corner of the internet, and you can write whatever you want. Free speech and all :)

  21. Teresa - you are a brave woman and I applaud you for doing what you think is right. On a different note, the colors on the house are especially striking on the porch columns. Lovely!

  22. Part of the reason I love your blog is because you speak your mind. Don't change for those who don't get it! Be yourself!
