Queen Anne's Lace Scarf

It's done! How nice to have a one day project for a change!! I like the variations of color in this but my next one will be out of a softer fiber.  I think this scarf is very classy looking, but in hand it's very scratchy, so I would not recommend Noro 100% wool if you like soft scarves - which I do.  But these colors are almost like a watercolor, real organic looking.

  1. That is so pretty! and as a matter of coincidence, I am making a pink and fluffy one for my son`s girlfriend as a Christmas Present. The only thing is, it looks nothing like yours so I am frogging it as we speak and will endeavour to do a better impression next time around!(I seem to have too many `holes` in mine!)

  3. Nana - I'm wondering if a fluffy yarn would be hard to see the lace-y-ness of the design? I must say that this was a fast and fun project!

    Clara - thanks, you're sweet!

  4. Yes, I think you`re right about the fluffiness spoiling te effect. I`ve frogged it all now anyway so it`s gone!I recently finished a ruffle scarf with Noro Kureyon and agree with you about the `scratchiness` of the fibre. It looks good though!Have a good day.

  5. Try washing gently with some Soak,it might soften up? The scarf looks fab.

  8. So beautiful! I made a Noro jacket and before I wore it I put it in a wash as was advised by my local yarn shop owner. It was a big mistake as it made my sweater grow to sizes even a NFL player could not wear. I had to frog the entire jacket. But it may be the thing for your scarf. It will soften it up and if it is a bit longer it will be fine.
    Good luck,
I think I would like to make one, too! have a great day,
    Meredith

  9. Have you tried Noro Silk Garden? Much less scratchy. lovely to knit with I am sure it would work for crochet.

  12. Well i succumbed and had a go love the pattern but..... wasn't happy with the size of motif's hehe i need bigger i did use the largest hook i own which was a 5.5mm :( scratchy is not good i would def try the washing hopefully it will soften up such a pity as Noro seems to one of those sought after yarns pricey too? hope you can find a good alternative i'll be watching xxxx

  13. Vera, Melba and Erin - thanks for your input! Will wash and look at the silk next time.

Meredith, gads that jacket experience sounds frustrating! For sure I will try washing this and will try the silk some day.

Anne, for sure the colors in this are awesome!

Hookin It, I know about the scratchy around the neck! Ew!

Manda, did you use a little hook and thin yarn?

  14. This caught my eye in your sidebar. I love this pattern. I've made one so far...but want to do another. I purchased yarn, similar in color to yours, but it's in my "to do" stash! I had a horrible experience with the first when I tried to block it. No long story here, suffice to say that it was a learning experience. It turned me off the scarf and I have yet to wear it because the memory isn't good. I buried is somewhere...need to find it and wear it! Such a beautiful pattern...and worked with the colors...yummmmmm!
