A Day on the Farm

Our daughter-in-law, Kristi, surprised us this morning by arriving before we even awoke and weeded our garden around our creek, waterfalls and pond.  How wonderful is that?  A few hours later our youngest son, Travis, showed up with the our two grandsons, 2 & 3 years old.  Here they are below on Grandpa's tractor.
Below is Kristi, hard at work.
Below you can see H on the deck and Grandpa with C on the Kubota riding lawnmower.
Below Kristi rides on the tractor with Travis.
Below is my youngest grandchild.. baby C.. with his adorable curly locks.. and chocolate all over his mouth from granola bars grandma gave him.
3 year old H.. he's so cute!  Funny story.. he kept asking me to give him fish food for the pond fish - they're little round pellets.. we finally noticed that he was EATING the fish pellets himself!  Ugh! LOL
And this is the best... Grandpa had baby C on the tractor with him and motioned me to come see.. C was asleep in Grandpa's arms as they trundled along on the diesel tractor.  Awwwwwwwwwww!
And here are some flower photos I took around the farm yard.. below is a Chive flower.. so pretty!
I'm a sucker for lime green foliage, here is a Fuchsia that came back from last year, it's a hardy variety.
Below are some of my Shooting Star, a wildflower that grows in shady damp bogs... I have the pot in the creek bed and the plant is very happy.  I could not get the color to show right, these are lavender flowers.
A close up of the center of one of my Bearded Iris - this is a very odd colored one, kind of pink-beige.
The fuzzy throat must be where it got it's name.. "bearded".
Another of my lime colored plants, I can't remember what this is, but it's a nice ground cover.
A pretty patch of my "Star-of-Bethlehem".  Sooo pretty!
Another "Mystery Flower"... I call it "Beauty Bush"... but I'm not sure that is it's real name.
A close-up.. aren't these tiny flowers amazing?  They look kind of like a little orchid.. the flowers have these cute little fuzzy frilly "collars" at the base of the flowers.  Do you know what this is?
And then I was standing under my red maple and looked up and the sun was shining through the leaves and it was so pretty.
A "Coral Bell".
The rosebud Pink Azaleas opening up more....
And I thought that the Honeysuckle buds were cool looking.
I hope I didn't over-do the photos on this post!

Thanks for coming to visit and also thanks for the nice comments on my other posts -- you all are the best.

((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. There is NO way you can overdo pics of your flowers and beautiful gardens--love them!!

I laughed when I read your little grandchild had been eating the fish food--probably because I ate a doggy cookie one time (of course I thought it was a animal cookie)!

Love all those blonde curls--you are blessed grandparents:)

  2. Such a beautiful and delightful post! Gorgeous photos too!

  6. I do LOVE your flower pictures! Particularly since my yard is void of them. I tried, but I just can't seem to grow plants. Gorgeous!

  7. You can never have too many pictures of plants Teresa!

  8. Bleugh! Fish Food! lol I love the picture of the baby asleep on the tractor with Grandad, what a shot. How kind is Kristi? What a lovely kind surprise. It looks like everyone enjoyed their day on your beautiful farm. :)

  9. Teresa, thank you for your comment on my blog, I find it all very confusing. I don't quite understand! I am scratching my head...It is getting late here so I won't do anything about it now, but tomorrow I will look into it! I will PM you via Rav with my e-mail address :)

  10. What a perfect day on the farm. We are still at 96 today and wilting here. My flowers all need a good watering tonight, but must wait till the sun goes down, or I might go down.

  11. The pics of your family are so sweet...and your flower pictures are always so pretty. :)

When are we gonna see some hook action? :)

Blessings to you and yours always

  15. You always have pictures of the prettiest flowers! Keep them coming, there aren't many around my apartment!

    Sam :-)

  16. Aimee.. the curls.. are so cute, and now they're getting sun-bleached, they're adorable!

    Thanks, lovestitch!

Dorothy, the camera is a Canon, PowerShot SX200 IS with a 12x Optical Zoom. But as for the colors, I use iPhoto and under "Edit" there is an option called "Enhance" and if you click it, it brightens everything so prettily!

Jane, we do a lot of babysitting and so it was my DIL's way of paying us back, but it was extremely nice of her to help us!

Stitchy, I'm working on some baby booties! :-)

Suz, that VW Bug is my son's car, he loves old cars! I do hope some day you get an acreage, you would love it! But it's a lot to keep up!

GB, it's chilly here.. can we swap? LOL

Sam, vikki, Melissa and CK.. thanks for the comments!

Farmchick, whenever C is near I have to pet his curly head! :-)

  17. You have so many wonderful plants in your garden. I am amazed, you must be spending a lot of time there outdoors. Beautiful pictures.

  18. Oh Teresa, this is such a gorgeous post! I love the deliciously stripy rose (and my birthday is 4 July!) And your house is exactly the style of house I would love...your garden is so natural and beautiful I always enjoy seeing it. Lovely! Have a happy week.
