Children's Christmas Party 2012

Yesterday we treated our sons and DILs and grandsons to the Children's Christmas Party at Portland Yacht Club.  Each year the Commodore and his/her First Mate select the decorating theme and it was really pretty this year.  I especially loved the wooden dinghy filled with wrapped gifts.  The tree is tall and beautifully decorated.  Christmas music filled the great hall.
Each year there is a craft for the kids and this year they had little wooden sailboat parts and all 4 boys worked on making one.. with a lot of adult participation.  Grandpa helped, I did too, and our son Travis helped.
Hayden proudly shows his finished sailboat, complete with a string of Christmas lights!
I snapped a photo of Michael and Gabriel in front of the tree in the dining hall.
I especially liked the look of this wreath, hung from the rafters with the stars hanging down.
This is the sailboat marina behind the clubhouse on the Columbia River.  Our boat, Stargazer, is 3rd from the end on the row on the left.  You can just barely see a speck of her black stern.
Our table full of family is on the far left.. the great hall looks so festive!
They have pages of color books for the kids and color crayons to use.  The boys and DILs had fun with those.
I love how they decorated this antique ships model in a glass display box in the entry.
And the huge ship's wheel above the crackling fire, with crossed oars tied with a big red ribbon.
They had a balloon artist and here is Hayden's Christmas "Monster" hat.  The kids love his creations!
Rawwwwwrrrrr!
And then we heard jingle bells.. and Santa arrived!  Caleb and Hayden enjoyed their visit with him.  Hayden asked him for "World Peace".  :-)
Hayden was pretty fascinated with Santa. :-)
Gabe asked Santa for an iPad.. I'm not sure that Santa has an account with Apple. :-)
The obligatory family photo.  :-)  Michael had his face painted.. he's not ordinarily green on the forehead and orange around the mouth. LOL!
I hope they had a good time. I did!  Now, I'm off to my DAR meeting at the Red Lion in Portland.  More fun and gift exchanging.  I hope you're having a great holiday time!

  4. I guess the most touching thing about this post was your sweet grandson Hayden asking Santa for world peace. Give that boy an extra warm hug and a kiss on the forehead for me and all the other souls who pray for it as well. God Bless you Teresa and your family.
