Season's Greetings! The kitchen fire clean up and painting is almost done. They will hopefully finish up on Monday. The crew chief is Sandra and she made sure they concentrated on the living room so that I could decorate the tree and room. The tree has most of the decorations on it.. but we can't find the tin with all my hand crocheted red hearts and the white snowflakes! Eeek.. where are they? So.. the paint selections have been a challenge. We (I?) selected a deeper, richer shade of yellow called "Bread 'n Butter". Now that it's up and in some light it's rather orange-y. :-O But we're getting used to it. The other color for the living room, kitchen and bedroom - it used to be sage green and I wanted something brighter. We made a rather hasty decision on a color called "Spring Chartreuse". It's rather lime green. But guess what? I love it!! You can see it here behind the tree.
It sure brightened up the bedroom! What do you think?
This is a truer color without the yellowish lights on. It sure does look nice with our new duvet cover! Our turkey dishes arrived! They are stacked up on the table right now, there are still boxes every where.. of things that were taken out of cabinets by the crew so they could move them and paint.
The turkey platter is really nice sized.. and they are a very high quality china.
I just snapped a few photos so I could touch bases with you -- we're using this rare and wonderful free day to get things more in order and decorated. The last room they will paint is our family room. Where we spend our time. Our "nest". Now that is going to be unsettling to say the least. I will be going to a DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) meeting that day, so poor Dayle will be here overseeing things himself.
OK, I must get back to tidying and decorating. I hope you're having a fun or peaceful weekend, whichever is your heart's desire. Tomorrow we are going to Portland Yacht Club for the Children's Christmas Party - the kids will see Santa and it's always fun, they give them a fun gift and there is usually a clown. You know I'll be snapping some photos.

ReplyDeleteProgress! :) The colors look good to me...but I have the worst time picking colors. Glad you are getting sorted out and still enjoying some of your normal activities, too. We are packing some boxes to get in the mail on Monday. I am going to try to crochet a little star today. Hope you find your tin of hearts soon! xx from Gracie

Your tree is spectacular looking and I am in love with your bed. It is so stately and romantic!
ReplyDeleteYour tree is looking stunning and adore your bed too.
ReplyDeleteHugs and Merry Cristmas to you too xx
Girl! How on earth do you manage to be so many places at one time without dropping in complete exhaustion? You make me dizzy with all you are doing, such a busy life you lead. Your tree is beautiful, and I knew it would be. Hope you find the misplaced decorations you made. The wall colors look very homey and warm. The dishes are very festive and will look wonderful on your holiday tables. And, the bedroom looks grand enough for a cozy nights sleep. I think the wall color matches the bed spread perfectly.

I can't wait to use the Turkey platters...I better start walking! I am glad your painting and decorating is all going to plan. xxx
ReplyDeleteLove the new paint color! I've wound up doing most of our rooms in yellows and greens -- despite the fact that I always said I like blue and white best. Our house just lends itself to the yellow family. I think it's because of the natural woodwork. So glad you'll have the fire clean-up done before Christmas.
ReplyDeleteExcellent color choice. I think you will continue to like it. It will be great too in the spring and summer with the sun shining in. I have a French Provence yellow in my kitchen and am not sick of it yet. It does need a fresh coat, but I'm not sick of it yet. Have a fun weekend planning all kinds of meals for those fab turkey dinners.
ReplyDeleteNice colour choice. Very cheery. And so is your lovely tree!! Happy Holidays to you and your family!!
ReplyDeleteLove the colours you have chosen particularly like the bedroom. Tree is gorgeous as is your new dishes. I have been putting a few bits and pieces up today first time I've felt like bothering so hopefully getting better. Hope you find the hearts and snowflakes. Love Anne x
ReplyDeleteLovely post. Those turkey dishes look wonderful. I decorate a little differently here, but then I like being different lol.
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom looks great too.
Gorgeous tree, Teresa! Love the lights on it..your bedroom took my heart the first time I saw it:) and now especially. this wall color looks really good, so no worries.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead! Anna
I love your tree and the paint colors too! I think you made really great choices. I always have a terrible time choosing colors and then I stress over them once chosen! We just got home after a whirlwind trip to Helena. Snowy, nasty mountain passes and it's great tone safe at home again.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
