Diorama & Tamale Pie

Hayden had a project for kindergarten, a diorama of prehistoric times.  I helped him to paint some wooden dinosaurs for it.  He painted some too and did a great job!

It was kind of fun to paint a dinosaur!

Kristi went outside and collected some rocks, moss, ferns and tree twigs and we printed up a prehistoric background an put it on the lid and she set it all up.  Isn't it cute?

Hayden is doing so well in school!  He asks us to write a word for him then he copies it and practices his letters.. I glanced into the kitchen and saw him working on his writing on the floor while grandpa is working on tamale pie for dinner.  We have a tiny kitchen!

The tamale pie was a success!

Somehow he decided to double the recipe and we had two big pans of it.  Dinner is settled - leftovers!

It's a rainy day, but we have the pellet stove burning and it's cozy inside.  I will be working on Caleb's blanket today.  I need to go back to my craft room and search for some more of the Cottontots yarn.. as it's been discontinued and I cannot find it anywhere even on eBay!!  Have a super week.. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Teresa - Might you have a good macaroni salad or potato salad recipe to share? Your recipes always sound so DELISH. In fact, I've recently gone through your entire blog and saved all the recipes you have shared. THANK YOU so much.

  3. Hi Teresa. How the kids must love to have Grandma and Grandpa to help them with their crafts and projects! The Diorama turned out so cute! I remember when the kids had to do those all the time! I never throw shoe boxes away for that very reason! Nana made a great tamale pie too. Now I want some!
A lot of the cabins up in Big Bear use those pellet stoves. I can hardly wait to light a fire in our house!!! LOVE, love, love to have the fire going when it is chilly outside!
I have Noah home with a cold, and we are just staying in and having a jammy day!
    xo Kris

  4. You are such a wonderful grandma. My mother-in-law helps our kids with their work too and I can attest to how much kids appreciate that. The tamale pie looks so good. I haven't had that in a long time, it will have to go on the list of things to make soon. :)

  5. Hayden's diorama looks great! So much fun for him to get to do it with both Mom and Grandma. I bet the boys are just loving being with you and Dayle so much. I've never had tamale pie. Can you believe that? I'm not a big spicy food lover but hubby sure is. I came home from the lake a day early this week. It's cold and very rainy there too. Maybe we'll have a fire in our gas stove tonight. That would be a nice cozy way to end the day.

  6. What fun going back to school Teresa ;0) The finished result wass terrific..great work. We are still getting some lovely warm weather here in the UK, sending some your way x

  7. You are such a wonderful Grandmother helping out with the Diorama, I remember those well.
Hugs to you and Happy Autumn.

  8. Hi Teresa, such a heartwarming post! You made my day!

  9. How lovely for you all to paint and craft together! You are a lovely granny, Teresa, and the children will always remember these times. Btw, my little cream jug is a Greengate one!
Wishing you a happy autumn week.

  11. Hi Teresa, So great to visit you again. So you have a house full I'm gathering. Well, they are really lucky to have you two. I think you both are the best grandparents. The boys will have lots of great help with all their projects. It turned out great, bet we will get a good grade.
Dinner and leftovers a real winner. xoRobin

  12. Hello Teresa the diorama is brilliant. Today Phoebe my GD has been using my ink pads and stamps and doing some stamping !!! Had fun and it was relaxing - good as I am not feeling so well. The pie looks delish. Hugs Anne x
