Oh my goodness.. yesterday we had crazy weather! It was pouring down hail and rain in buckets! I just had to go out and try to capture a photo of the rain. Our back door is covered with a roof, thank goodness - so I stood there and snapped a few damp shots. :-)
You can't see the rain very well in this shot below, but it was heavy, let me tell you!
Sorry this one of the hail is fuzzy.. but you get the idea.
Looking up the hillside behind our farmhouse - Dayle spent the sunny day before this mowing all the pastures. He'd let all the grasses go to seed and waiting until autumn to mow it down, hoping that the grass will seed the pastures for next year. They will, they always do. I always see something in my photos that I go.. D'OH.. why is that plant stand with wheels on top of the kid's picnic table? :-)
I zoomed in on the chestnut tree and this photo really shows the rainfall!
And guess what? Today it's sunny! I am fully engulfed in a cold now. My head feels like it's filled with cotton and my eyes are burning and I'm coughing. I am going to stay by the fire and crochet and play Scrabble online. :-)
Survivor is on TV tonight.. do you watch it? We love it! Our forecast is for a dry sunny week.. I'm happy about that. I think we need to dry out a bit after our soaking. I hope you're keeping warm and happy wherever you are in the globe! If you leave a comment, will you tell me where you're at in this great world? I'll start.. I live in Corbett, Oregon, USA!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
I live in Boring, Oregon :) ....that isn't the least bit boring! You really did get poured on yesterday! We did too, but not with hail in our neighborhood. Sandy had a lightning strike, I think. Your farm is so beautiful. Thanks for the lovely photos. I'm so sorry you are not feeling well :( and am hoping you make a speedy recovery! I think you are beating me in Scrabble...again :) that should help cheer you up, my friend.
ReplyDeleteLove with hugs,
Gracie
Oh my goodness, that is some rain. I hope you feel better soon. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. New Mexico is known as the Land of Enchantment.

ReplyDeleteHi Theresa. I am from Queensland in Australia and we are in drought again so it was good to see that rain still falls somewhere. I love reading your stories and seeing your great photos.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Pammy Sue, and I live in Big Ol' Texas, USA. Hee-hee. Love the rain pictures. Wish it had been us getting all that. I'm sorry you're under the weather, but your day by the fire sounds wonderful! Get Dayle to make you some more of his chicken noodle soup. I have the stuff to make some. Wish you were close and I'd run you a pot of it! Get better.
ReplyDeleteHi Theresa, I live in Leesburg, VA. We had some lovely fall weather then summer came back. Fall has returned. We'll see if it stays. I enjoy seeing all your lovely posts. It was nice to see your craft room. I am forever organizing mine. Well, when I'm not crocheting!
ReplyDeleteThat's some rain, Teresa :d I live in the UK, in the (much-maligned) county of Essex. Our town is Manningtree. It's the smallest market town in England, home of the Witchfinder General, Matthew Hopkins and is mentioned in Shakespeare's Henry IV Part I.
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa. You sure did get some rain and hail. We had a bit of hail back in late Spring and plenty of rain all through the summer.....alas, all that grass mowing that I have whined about forever. Everything in your corner of the world is green, green and more green. I live outside of a one-traffic light little town of Green Springs, Ohio. Our little town use to be called a village until the school system joined up with a neighboring small town of Clyde. There use to be a Village Store that was always fun with stuff, but the owner retired and no one took it over, sooooo, that means we have zippo, nadda, and shopping means going a distance for just about everything. We have a small grocery, gas station, bank and post office. Oh, and a restaurant and 3 bars (of course). There is a nursing home and we also have the biggest sulfur springs in the world. There is a big hospital where I use to work, it was a Rehab Hosp/nursing home. Years ago the hospital was a TB Clinic and many famous people came here because they believed the natural sulfur springs had healing properties. When I worked there it was St.Francis Rehabilitation Hospital & Nursing Home. People came from all over the US, even Christopher Reeves when they had a grand opening of the new therapy floor. We specialized in physical, occupational and speech therapies.
ReplyDeleteSo you play Scrabble........MY FAVORITE GAME!! Maybe sometime we can play together. I do not discriminate, I gladly beat someone's butt, LOL Hope you get to feeling better. That cold business is nasty stuff, and makes one feel worse on a rainy day.
(((HUGS))) Susanne :)
Hi Teresa! I am from Mattapoisett, Massachusetts! That was crazy weather you had....but now, the gift of sunshine!

It's me! I'm in sunny Spokane, WA. USA. That was an amazing rain you had yesterday. Looks like what fell on Pipers birthday over there. :-). I'm sorry you have a cold. Stay toasty warm and cozy in your chair with your yarn until you're better. I'm much better today from whatever bug I brought home on Sunday, but now my head feels stuffy. Hope I'm not getting what you have.

ReplyDeleteHope you get to feeling better soon. I just got over a cold or a bit still lingering. I live in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. We had rain yesterday, no hail here. It was quite chilly here, 43 degrees this a.m. when I left for work at almost 10 a.m. Chilly when I got home. Headed your way soon! I know where Corbett is as well
ReplyDeleteStay warm!
Sending you 'get well' wishes from Haskell, NJ.....rain coming our way for the next few days...hopefully, it won't ruin the fun for the folks going to "Blaze" this weekend http://www.hudsonvalley.org/events/blaze.
ReplyDeleteSmiles, DianeM
I love rainy days, well rainy days where I get to stay inside and putter about. I am sorry your cold is now full blown, yuck a head filled with cotton does not sound like a lot of fun. But crocheting and staying by the fire does. I do not watch Survivor but local Tampa lawyer Brad Culpepper and his wife are on it right now so it is always in the paper.
ReplyDeleteRest and drink some nice hot tea with honey in it.
Meredith
Greetings Teresa- I love your rain photos. They captured the amount we get with a "normal" rain here in the high desert. I'm east of Kingman, Az on historic Rte 66. We had 2 microbursts about a month ago which took out the drought- for a few days anyway. Flooded the whole golfcourse fairway (and some homes) across the street from me. The mallards from the pond were swimming on the fairway! Today- more rain but much gentler.
ReplyDeleteHope your cold disappears but it's a great excuse to crochet!
Blessings- Reni
Yes, feel better! I live in beautiful West Michigan, the other west coast! Fall has arrived in the trees, which are turning beautiful colors, but the temps are still roller coaster-ing up and down. But the skies have been blue and filled with pufffy white clouds, and it's good sleeping weather at night! Part of my heart is in Portland, OR with my daughter and her two children, so I love seeing what things are like in your world!
ReplyDeleteFrom Green Bay Wisconsin. I hope you feel better soon. I alway marvel at your home. It is so pretty there! Looks peaceful. I just am facinated with the moss on the roof. I bet it appreciated the rain. Maybe not the hail though. We had a hard rain for parts of 2 days last week. We did need it though. Isn't it funny what you see in pictures that you don't see when you aim the camera! I am getting a little better, but it still happens. I hope you get some rest and feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa,
ReplyDeleteMissing Oregon so much!!! I'm stuck here in Knoxville, TN for now - but praying we'll be in OR by the middle of next year.
Thank you for your beautiful OR photo's. Especially love the one's taken in the "Gorge"

P.s. sorry for not answering earlier re what Lucy said - she, of course, recognised your name and said she gets your messages and thought it was lovely that you asked me to say a "special hi". She really is as nice as she is on her blog. A lovely, gentle, warm lady. A very special one too.
Wow, Teresa, that was some rain. Hope your cold is better.
