Hello, thanks for stopping by - and for sending so much care and good thoughts for Dayle as he begins the painful process of healing from his knee replacement surgery. He's a tough ol' bird, but this is giving him a run for his money... it's some of the worst pain he's experienced in his whole life. But we're taking good care of him. Did you ever read "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" by Oregon's own Ken Kesey? Or did you see the movie? Nurse Ratched was one mean old nurse. It was a joke as we're being as nice as possible even when he's grumpy. Well, I've told him I'm happy to help him as long as he's nice. :-)
So I'm sitting with my patient and crocheting. On the boy blanket. I need to get this done as I'm.. dare I say.. in need of working on something different for a change?
So, here we are.. :-) Exciting, aren't we? Woo hoo. LOL! Kristi is over there and Buddy is on her lap. Our patient has compression socks on.. he's so stylish.. and an ice pack on his knee and pillows to elevate it.
This is Lucy at Attic24's "neat ripple" pattern. I'm using a discontinued yarn (grrr) that I love called "CottonTots" by Bernat (grrr). I'm mad at them for taking this away from me.
I've got that red yarn waiting.. hook hook hook..
So, this is what we have going this weekend.. what are you up to? I hope it's fun! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
You're funny, Teresa. I'm sure he's glad to have you all helping him out, even if he's a little grumpy. That poor leg of his looks pretty uncomfortable. My father-in-law needs to wear compression socks all the time because he has had a history of blood clots. Gosh, those socks do not look pleasant, especially in the summer. I hope Dayle is getting better every day. Your blanket is looking great but I understand how you feel about needing something else to work on, it happens to me all the time. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that blanket you are making and its colors, and sympathize with your hubby with the severe pain. Give him medications please! I am sure you are taking tender care of him.
ReplyDeleteSending more good wishes to Dayle and to you all xo Lovely ripple blanket.
ReplyDeleteI have made a skirt (sewing), first one in decades lol
take care ♥
Oh poor Dayle. I'm praying for him, that his pain will soon ease and he'll be up and around the farm soon. I'm sure sitting around isn't his favorite thing to do. He has lots of people helping him out which is a wonderful way of showing him how much he's loved by all of you.
ReplyDeleteYour blanket is really growing. How much bigger is it going to be? See you soon my friend. We're going to Olive Garden tonight for my birthday dinner and then I'll be "on the road again" tomorrow morning, heading your way. See you Tuesday.
Blessings,
Betsy
YOu are a lovely wonderful Nurse!!! I love the crocheted blanket as it is so cheerful!
ReplyDeleteKnitting, family time, resting this weekend. maybe working too
Nice looking blanket. Prayers for less pain and for healing of Dayle's new knee. I've read and seen thr movie One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. Quite the story. Your probably a nice nurse! We're enjoying the nice weather. Getting cold again later in the week, no snow or rain for that matter. I'd better figure out what's for dinner and make it. Have a good weekend. ☆《★》☆ ♡☆
ReplyDeleteYour boy blanket is very handsome, Teresa! I am so sorry for the extreme pain Dayle has had, and am praying he will feel rapidly better! You picked a good week to miss swimming. They were working on the pool Monday and Wednesday and the water was coolish Monday, COLD Wednesday, then finally blissfully WARM on Friday :) Missed you, but I am glad you on Dayle's nursing team xx
ReplyDeleteSending healing thoughts and prayers for a fast recovery! The blanket is beautiful! I love the colors.
ReplyDeletePoor Dayle! I know you are taking really good care of him though. Hopefully he will be feeling better quickly. I know he is a go'er and a do'er, so being down must by hard for him.
ReplyDeleteI love the blanket Teresa! It is turning out so nice. Love the brightness of it.
Today, I rested. And sewed. Nice day.
xo Kris
Poor poor Dayle! Hate compression socks....I know they are necessary but they really are uncomfortable. It all just looks painful. He's lucky to have such good nursing care. ;-) He'll be back on is feet soon though and with a whole new knee. It will all be worth it in the end. The blanket turned out beautiful! Love the colors and it looks very soft.
ReplyDeleteSending healing hugs Teresa.....the acute pain will settle soon and Dayle really needs to keep his exercises going! Enjoy the blanket when you can ;0) x
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to your dear Dayle for a very speedy recovery....he definitely deserves to be spoiled now and I know he will definitely have the best nurse in you, Teresa! ('One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' is a great film ...one of my favourites...and I always intend to read the book but it's still on my 'to do' list)
ReplyDeleteYour crochet blanket is looking lovely!
Happy Sunday!,
Susan x
I'm glad your husband is recovering, but I'm sorry to hear it has been such an ordeal. The blanket is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI hope Dayle's healing will be quick. I have bad knees -- had surgery on my left knee when I was in 8th grade and many times since it has popped out of place, and let me tell you, that is the worst pain I've ever experienced, so I can imagine what Dayle is going through with having had knee surgery. At least you have crochet to keep you busy while playing nurse. Take care, Tammy
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa! I'm feeling for that poor hubby of yours! But you too! It's not easy being the nurse! The ripple blanket is lovely. Why DO the mfrs. feel the need to change it up all the time? I pout about that frequently! Take care and ripple on! Hugs, A.
ReplyDeleteSorry he's in so much discomfort. But at least he has good company while he mends. I hope things improve soon. We've been out clambering about outside, ready for a nice evening at home now.
ReplyDeleteOh your blanket is lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about getting a little burned out on them, though....and the red yarn is calling your name I am more than sure. :)
Sending prayers to Dayle for a speedy recovery.
Blessings always
Why do they discontinue the best yarns...just to needle us I suppose (groan ;) All the best to Dayle, I know how he feels, I had the same surgery 6 years ago aged 42....the lady opposite me in hospital was 85 if she was a day and running round on her zimmer frame the same afternoon, the nurse said recovery was nothing to do with pain felt (or not) and that you are not a wimp if it hurts, pain varies hugely amongst different people. Huge improvements after 1 week, 6 weeks and 3 months and 6 months..just make sure he does ALL the physio for best recovery and take the painkillers so you can do the physio rather than trying to be macho and doing without. Sympathies to you, it's far easier being the patient than the carer. Fiona xx
ReplyDeleteSuch cheerful colors in the blanket -- so springlike.
ReplyDeleteI see Dayle is settled into the recliner that must be really hard work getting him in that. Yes, best to keep those pain meds going and keep the pain under control. I had back fusion surgery in 08, worst pain in my life, but now it's all a blur and I'm so much better! He'll be up and cooking before you know it!
ReplyDeletePoor Dayle! I know how he must feel...you know I do! Tell him to hang in there and it will get better. Sounds like something that will take some PT after a few weeks if not sooner. I've never had a leg injury or surgery, but I imagine it's a huge pain in the arse as well as being uncomfortable. Get well soon! (Love the blanket still. Are you going to have enough yarn to finish it?)
ReplyDeleteI am such a wimp. I hate hospitals and any kind of medical treatment so my sympathy goes out to you both . I can't wait to see pictures of Dayle up and about again. Easy goes it though xxx to you both
ReplyDeleteI have taken care of patients who have had knee replacement surgery. It can be a tough road at first and hopefully your sweetie will come through this part of his recovery with flying colors. Yes, physical therapy is no doubt on the agenda and he might get a bit crabby during that time, but just give some TLC and you won't be tempted to kill each other, lol. I do say, that blanket for your grandson is growing and I like the colors. I know all about the need for making something else when you have been working on the same thing for ages. Boredom takes over and when you have other ideas waiting in the wings, especially some pretty yarn you can't keep your mind off of, then it does make finishing a project quite the challenge. Hang in there friend.
ReplyDelete(((HUGS))) Susanne :)
Happy to hear you both are getting along hahaha, I know it can be tough. I was nurse Ratched when my husband broke his elbow a few years back!! I was nurse Flo and became nurse Ratched as he got grumpier and grumpier. We still laugh about it!!
ReplyDeleteHugs and healing thought, xoRobin
Oh dear, poor Dayle is certainly laid up - please give him my best wishes for a quick recovery. Love the ripple blanket you're working on Teresa - great colours. Have a good week and take it easy. xox
ReplyDeleteI hope Dayle is able to keep his pain under control. Best wishes for his continued recovery!!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember CottonTots yarn - grrr indeed! It was a very nice yarn. What a cheery blanket and such happy colours.
ReplyDeletePoor Dayle - I hope his recovery goes well and smoothly. Joint replacements are no joke.
LOVE the color combination! What a beautiful blanket. I admire your determination to finish.....I tend to bail on my projects when I tire of them!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Teresa
Oh dear sounds like a miserable time for Dayle. Good he has a caring team looking after him :-) I do hope the pain lessens each day and soon goes! The blanket is lovely. Hugs Anne x
ReplyDeleteOooh I like your new banner, how appropriate :-) I don't really do valentines day but today is our 8th anniversary, yay!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same about the blanket I'm knitting, although I'm enjoying it I want to start new things but I know if I do I'll never finish!
Hope you've got enough yarn left to finish yours :)
As so much has been going around here with my Mom, I am just catching up on your posts. I'm so sorry Dayle is having so much pain. Knee surgery is tough, I've had both of mine replaced, one has been done twice but tell him to do that therapy and he will get along great! I remember those "cute" socks. Oh how I hated those things. I love your blanket, love the colors. Be a good nurse to Dayle, I know he has the best care.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sharon
