Shawl, Falls and Roses

Hello!  Thanks for visiting!  My friend Shirley and I volunteered at Multnomah Falls yesterday and I got a few more rows done on my Elise shawl.  I'm loving how it's coming out, lacy, soft with the alpaca/silk blend yarn.

The falls was literally ROARING yesterday!  Snow melt, rain, springs.. a LOT of water coming over.  The stream was full and rushing.

These roses jumped into our cart at Costco on Wednesday.  Along with a lot of other interesting items.  I got some chocolate covered dried mangoes.  Oh yes I did and they are delicious and totally healthy as it's dark chocolate and fruit!  :-)

Oh do I ever love to see a lovely bouquet of roses on my dining table.  It makes me feel civilized.. lol.. I have a fun tablecloth on the table, the center is a field of sunflowers and the border around is cows and barns and green fields and white wood fences.  Perfect for a farm table in a farm house in the countryside of Oregon.

The flower lady at Costco called this selection of roses the "rainbow" roses.  OK.

I thought for those of you who are tired of winter I'd give you a big dose of rose closeups to make you feel better.  Did it work?  Are you smiling?  I hope so!

I leave soon for lunch with my 2 sisters and friend Shirley.  Then I'm off to swim with Gracie.  After swimming we're going to an art store together.  Fun fun!  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  5. The roses are beautiful. Have you ever noticed how the scent of roses never seems to leave your memory, I can smell them. The peachy one is such a lovely shade, then of course so are all the others. I have never had much luck with growing roses. I know they require a lot of fuss, and around here they need to be covered and protected from the harsh winters. I bet that falls is roaring and the water is moving on. We have some flooding and standing water in our roadways. Many places have warning signs to give advance notice. I went to Perrysburg yesterday in the rain, a good hour away to go into Hobby Lobby for 1 skein of a red yarn that I needed to match the one I bought almost 2 years ago. Lucky me I found it, lucky me, a dye lot did not matter. I came out of there with a dozen things. Did I need them, probably not. Did I want them, why sure I did. I struck up a conversation with a woman who was looking at counted cross stitch books. I think we talked a good half hour, unfortunately I didn't get her name nor she mine, but it just goes to show ya that if there is a common interest then you can chat with just about anyone. Come to find out we had a lot of interests, crochet, knitting, quilting, counted cross, embroidery. She said she kinda liked the long winter, it gave her plenty of time to pursue her hobbies. I agreed on that one. I found it interesting that she has made enough counted cross stitch ornaments that she had to buy a second Christmas tree for them all, lol. Anyways, this sounds like a post instead of a comment. I love how your shawl is coming along. That color is just perfect and it would be just right for a romantic evening out, maybe next Valentine's Day or your anniversary. No matter what it will be looking good on you. I think red is your color. You asked me how far away I was from Washington Township. I am thinking that might be where your family lives here in Ohio, well it would be maybe a good 3+ hour drive if it is close to Lima and that would be traveling the interstate I-75. I would have to Google it and see because I'm not sure. I have a GPS and it would tell me. I had better scat. I am doing a bit of house cleaning (more like a lick & a promise). I have company coming tomorrow and right now I would rather be crocheting, lol

  9. Oh, I loved seeing that peach rose! So gorgeous. Yes, it made me smile. Your shawl is coming right along. Keep it up, one row at a time, and it will be big before you know it. Isn't that how it always works for you? It does me. Just suddenly it's big! Hope Dayle is still doing well.

  13. The Elise shawl is looking better and better every time you bless us with another peek at it! And, as for the roses--the peach is beautiful, but I also like the cream/ivory/whitish one. Can you believe it? In just a few more months we'll both have roses blooming in our gardens. YIPPEE!
    Have a great weekend Teresa!
    Blessings,

  19. What beautiful roses, a good buy indeed. As was the chocolate covered mango, it sounds delicious. We have two packets of dark chocolate covered cranberries that the boys persuaded me to buy last week. But there's fruit in there, so they can't be too bad, can they..? Lucky you, going for lunch and a swim and a trip to the art shop, it sounds so very civilised - wonderful.
