Tad's Chic Dump

Hello there.. I'm glad you came to visit.  We are in our easy chairs, watching The View and watching one man come in and out of the door with huge folded up carpet pieces.  We're listening to him bang and clang and make all manner of noise while installing new carpet in the upstairs bedroom, hallway and down the stairs.  I can't wait until it's done!

Last night we went to Tad's Chicken 'n Dumplins for dinner.  It's 5 minutes from our house and right on the Sandy River and is always delicious.  Half the sign burned out, hence the nickname "Chic Dump" - when they tried to fix it everyone complained so they leave half of it dark on the back side of the sign.

It was a lovely fresh afternoon so we sat in the view dining room where the doors slide open for fresh air and warmth.  The sun was sparkling off the river.. just beautiful.

This photo is pointing north to the Troutdale Bridge, unfortunately it's obscured by new leaves on the trees.

I got a huge kick out of Hayden - he tied the napkin around his neck by himself and was sitting there with his knife and fork ready to be served his mac and cheese!

I noticed some pretty pink in the forest out the window and those are wild Rhododendron in bloom!

I know you love seeing Tad's crispy fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans with ham and onions.  :-)

Just so you know I don't eat fried chicken every day.. this was my dinner on Monday.  Green salad with tomatoes, walnuts, dried cranberries, shrimp and avocado.

I just finished a wash or dish cloth.  100% soft unbleached cotton from KnitPicks - color "Marshmallow" in their Simply Cotton Worsted line.  I love using it!  KnitPicks "Dishie" in red for the single crochet border.  I used the "Gentle Ridges" pattern. I'll add it at the bottom for you.  I really think this is one of the best for a dish cloth as it's got a lot of texture.

I'm thinking of trying this as a face cloth instead of a dish cloth to see how it goes.  Wouldn't it be neat to have a nice stack of wash cloths that you made yourself?

How about this for nubble-y?

And so.. bang bang clang.. the day continues.  We're watching the "Young and Restless" - my favorite soap opera.  Guess what Caleb said the other day?  When is the "Young and Wrestling" going to be over?  I've been cracking up over that ever since.  I'm off to swim this afternoon.  Gracie won't be joining me as she's come down with a nasty flu bug.  Poor girl!  I hope your week is going well!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  8. Hi Teresa! We'll have to go to the Chick Dump sometime when I visit. Hubby's flying into Portland Friday night to spend the weekend with Piper. (Mandy & Brad too!). I'm jealous. I'm looking forward to seeing a picture of your finished room upstairs. Poor Gracie. How sad that she's sick right in the middle of springtime. Thanks for the pattern. I'll have to print it when I get home.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

Your dish cloths look very pretty, thanks for the pattern, too. :) Gosh, what a lovely view to sit at and eat your dinner...I'd want to linger behind and crochet for a while (or cross stitch)...love the river...and that splash of pink, too. Wishing you a most lovely day sweet friend. :)

  11. I love little glimpses into your life Teresa, and I would have loved the chicken but probably would have choose that delicious salad instead. I used to watch The Young and the Restless many, many years ago, Nikki and Victor were having big problems back then, are they still on?
    Hugs to you,
    Meredith

  12. I love the idea of making your own dishcloths and washcloths. It might be simple enough for me late at night when I'm tired and making lots of mistakes! I love the Chic Dump sign, how wonderful! It sounds like you had a nice meal. That little man is so sweet sitting there with his napkin ready for his food. Adorable!

  14. I live in SW Washington, and just love your nature photos! The good eats, woods, blue waters, stormy beach, wildlife and native plants, as well as majestic mountains with the backdrop of blue skies with fluffy white clouds all make my heart swell with the love I feel for the Pacific Northwest! My favorite place to be is outdoors, near water and woods with family and friends! I'm currently housebound due to chronic illness, and can't get outdoors. Your blog takes me there.
I can even smell the air... Love your blog.

  15. Hi Teresa :-)

I think the cloths would make lovely face cloths, much better than being used for dirty pots! Of course doing the dishes could be a lot more fun!
