Flying Pigs, A Hibiscus and Hula Girl

How about a nice photo of my red Hibiscus to add some color to your winter?  It's full of buds, too.. I love this plant!

I finished knitting my large cotton washcloth in a pretty gold color.  It's SO soft and squishy!

I need to start a new one.. because...

I wrapped the little Guinea Pigs in the soft knitted cloth.. to keep them warm on their way flying 2,409 miles to my daughters home in Ohio.  She has informed me that it's not 3,000 miles.  It's still a LONG ways.

The cloth is a gift for my daughter, the baby guinea pigs for my 2 granddaughters, and I included 2 skeins of girlie colored yarn for Jenna as she is crocheting a lot!  She even told me on the phone that she is teaching her cousin Bella to crochet!  I am so thrilled about that.  She is 10 years old and I think of how many people she will teach to crochet over her lifetime and it fills me with happiness.  I sent two bags of truffles for the girls, and a big bag of beads from my stash.  I can't wait to see what they think!

See my new little pouch?  WELL.. I was reading my friend's blog - Running With Rocket - and she had made 4 of these cute little pouches for such things as your phone/iPod earbuds and I left a message asking if the little hula girl one was for sale and she emailed back saying Yes!  So, guess what came today in the mail?  Isn't this cute?  I spent 7 months in Hawaii in my youth after graduating from high school so this "spoke to me".

I admire her sewing skills.  She makes bags and all kinds of things.

Inside the little pouch was a surprise gift.. this cute little bird ornament!  I'm going to hang it on my grandfather clock.. thanks so much, Kathy!  There was a little note rolled up like a fortune cookie note that said "Lift me out carefully and set me free".  :-)

Our son Shawn invited us over to their new home to watch the Oregon Ducks play the Ohio Buckeyes last evening.  I was able to make a few crocheted flowers while the game played.. (my grandson Michael took this photo for me) I kept saying, is that good or bad?  Well, it was bad.  Oregon lost miserably.  But, they did make it to the College Football National Championship, so that is pretty neat.  :-P

The pool is closed tomorrow for maintenance.  I wonder what other mischief I can get into on a free day?

What mischief are you up to?  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. I love your guinea pig care package. They will have a lot of fun opening it.
    Just wanted to add - a cute way to send soft items like socks or crocheted guinea pigs is in a freezer ziploc bag. Tape securely and watch big smiles as the recipients see what they are getting before opening the package. {and know that we in the po are also smiling.}

  4. Your care package to your girls is so full of love. I know they'll love every thoughtful item you included. Your granddaughter is crocheting and already teaching others! How cool is that? I can see that she must be taking after her Grandma at a very young age. I didn't get into too much mischief today as the roads were icy and I stayed in much of the day. We'll have to see what tomorrow brings.
    Blessings always Teresa,
    Betsy

  13. It's great that your granddaughter is crocheting and already passing on her skills. I'll be going to my crochet class tonight where I have a new lady learning to crochet. I love being able to teach others this lovely craft. They always think they won't be able to do it but they always do in the end (and it doesn't take them very long to get to grips with it).

    Today I took Little One to school, read about five blogs, took Max to the vet for his check up and shots, now I am going to pick Little Buddy up and then go to work, no mischief for me.

  15. I wish I could see the girl's faces when they see their pigs! They are going to love them!!! Congratuations to your grand-daughter. She will inspire so many people in the art of crochet. Can you just imagine how many beautiful items she will produce in her lifetime. Maybe she will use some of the beads in one of her projects. Love the hibiscus! We have 2 perennials ones here. Always a is it or is it not going to make it this year. ( actually they). Hibiscus come up late here. Usually not until june. Way after other plants have emerged from their winter sleep. But the wait sure is worth it! Have a great day and I am sure that you found some "mischief" to get into.
