Red Farm House

Hello my friends!  I continue to try to convince brainwash my husband into agreeing with the idea of a red farmhouse.  Thank you to all who voted on what color to paint it.  Especially the ones who agreed with me.  :-D  I did a google search for images of red farmhouses and was further encouraged that it was a perfect choice.  Because before that I googled paint colors for farmhouses and didn't see one that I loved as much.  THEN.. I opened the photo of our house in PhotoShop and did a bit of "paint bucket-ing" to see what our house might really look like in "barn red".  And guess what?  I like it!  What do you think?

We've had another nice long run of beautiful warm days so on Sunday our son got the little quad ATV (all terrain vehicle) running for the boys to have some fun with.  We took some lawn chairs out and enjoyed watching the little guys zoom around.

Caleb loves it when I take photos and was more intent on smiling for me than watching where he was going.  His daddy had a talk with him about that.

They took turns and this is Hayden coming around the track towards us.

We are near the flight path for airplanes heading to land at PDX, Portland International Airport and I zoomed in and snapped an image of this big jet flying over us.

Hayden again.. they sure have fun riding on this little thing.

Those two trees to the left are pear trees and they are budding out!

In fact, we were sitting under another pear tree and I zoomed in on the buds for you to see.

Caleb, wave at grandma!  :-)

Our Kerria Japonica, aka Japanese Rose, aka globeflower.  This is very early for it to be in bloom.

I have 3 more colors in my blanket since my last photo - Turmeric - a coppery gold, Cadet - a dusty blue, and Ice Lily - a dusty rose.

Shhh.. don't tell Dayle.. but I need him to help me roll up "Spearmint" in a bit.  I think my 3 favorite color run is the taupe, aqua and grape.

Buddy got a haircut a week ago.. we asked for a bit shorter and they did!  But this cut will last longer than the last one.  :-)

I think I might need to start putting out some Easter things.. it comes early this year.  I even have an Easter tablecloth.. of course I do.. right?  Today we're taking the boys and Dayle for a haircut then out to dinner.  That should be fun.  What are you up to?  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Lovely to see those pear buds. Not long until blossom now. I'm laughing at the expression on Buddy's face. I have a photo of my littlest boy in the kitchen, taken after he gave himself a haircut(!), he looks very similar. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day. CJ xx

  4. Your Japanese Rose is gorgeous--I LOVE everything about it! This spring-in-winter weather is truly amazing and I am enjoying it immensely, even though we really need some rain. So happy you were able to get a "preview" of the red paint on your farmhouse :) :)
    Have a great day!
    Blessings,

  5. I'm home! And I adore your house in red. I didn't think I would but your photo shopping it has convinced me. (Sorry Dayle.). The boys look as if they're having great fun zooming around. Spring does indeed seem to have "sprung" while I was away. I'm loving it and have my doors and windows open this afternoon. And now I have to get some things done around here. I've already tackled the grocery store and Costco.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  11. Clever friend! My imagination was not as good as your computer "painting," Teresa :-) I was afraid you would be disappointed in red, but now I can see [literally] you may not be! Now as for Dayle.... :-) Buddy looks very handsome. Have you ever knitted or crocheted a sweater for him? Please give him some love pats from me. Your flowers, pear buds, and blanket are so pretty, and I am glad you had fun out in the beautiful weather with your family on Sunday. xx

  13. Looks like the boys had great fun. Our weather is becoming more Spring like but it's still cold and very windy. No sign of buds on any of our fruit trees just yet.

  15. Hi Teresa, I have always thought that red was a great color for farmhouses, especially when you have a big red barn like yours. Barn red is such a warm and cozy color. Your husband may be opposed to painting the house barn red, because he thinks that then he will have to give the barn a fresh coat of paint too.
Your blanket is coming along beautifully and I noticed your yellow walls. My living-room is painted yellow, too. I love how cheerful it looks each morning when I pull the curtains open :) Well, I've got to stop blogging and get on with my day, before our neighbor calls and comes over. We told him that he could borrow our garden tractor and trailer to clean up his yard today. He just had two trees topped in his front yard and he has been cleaning away the brush with a wheel barrow.
Have a great day and enjoy this gorgeous weather,
    Connie :)

  17. The boys are so cute in their quad and I have to agree with you, the red looks very beautiful. I love, love the ripple blanket also. You inspired me to finish mine ( with rainbow colors) which I started 2 years ago. Lovely colors my friend. Have a good weekend.
