Hello my friends! Thank you SO MUCH for all the wonderful and sweet comments about our anniversary.. it was like having a big worldwide party and it meant so much to both of us! The lilacs finally got to the blooming point to be cut for a bouquet yesterday - and here they are in all their glory on the dining room table, scenting the house with their exotic perfume. I *LOVE* lilacs! I have 3 color varieties, white, dark purple and good old fashioned farm lavender. Don't you want to bury your nose in here and breathe in deeply?
The dining room table all set up with my Easter collections. Oops, a light bulb is burned out but it's fixed now.
I had to move the things to the end of the table to get some good photos as they were backlit before. I put some of our fresh eggs in my vintage wooden egg holder and put out my 3 little ceramic Peter Rabbit figurines.
See the speckled egg? We got a chicken that was "supposed" to be an Ameracauna.. her name is Shelby and she's very pretty.. but seemingly did not ever lay eggs.. until now we have a different colored egg than ever before so I think she has begun to lay. The dark brown is from the Cuckoo Maran named "Hershey" as her eggs look like chocolate. The aqua egg is from Gracie - our grey feathered Ameracauna. The light brown egg is from Buffy - the Buff Orpington.
I made 2 more crocheted Easter eggs - they fit just right in my vintage glass chick egg cups! :-)
I love my Royal Doulton Peter Rabbit family of bunnies. Mrs. Rabbit and Bunnies, Fierce Bad Rabbit and Mrs. Flopsy Bunny. :-)
The cast of characters.
My basket of crocheted eggs, a chick and the Peep I made last year. I may need to make more of those!
Fun fun crochet!
A favorite is this Beatrix Potter figurine of Mrs. Rabbit and Flopsy Bunny". That she is knitting makes me smile so big!
My Peep.. I need a yellow one and blue one and maybe a purple one.. right?
I just took a walkabout outside and my first rose is in bloom! My 4th of July rose.. isn't that amazing?
We have a little volunteer in the yard - it was there last year and it's back - it's a Bluebell! Isn't it sweet?
My white Azalea is starting to bloom.. in my "white garden".. next to my white lilac. I think I need to plant some white Irises in front of them.
I peeked into our front walk garden in the picket fence and saw the beginnings of my Lily-of-the-Valley bloom. Oh boy.. I wait for this all year. Soon I will pick a full little bouquet of them and put them in my pretty little hobnail vases and set them about the house to scent the rooms.
A tightly furled Rhododendron beginning to open.
Our DIL Kristi got this amazing photo of my special tulip we bought at the Tulip Festival last year.. isn't it gorgeous?
Are you all set for Easter? We have a special ham, and I'm going to try making "smashed" potatoes and our birthday boys have requested homemade Macaroni and cheese - Kristi has all kinds of fun plans as it's also the birthday party for the little guys and our other son and his family will be joining us. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Now, I'm off to join Gracie for lunch and then swimming. ❀.•❤•.✿.•❤ Happy Easter! ❀.•❤•.✿.•❤ ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Thanks for sharing the lovely blooms with us, Teresa :) I can almost smell the lilacs through the computer screen! Wishing you and yours a Happy Easter as well xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous lilacs. Cute, cute crochet. I have yet to make peeps and have a little bunny motif saved that I want to make. Your flowers are all so gorgeous. I would think you don't need any scented candles with all the lovely natural aroma from the flowers. You don't even need to color Easter eggs because your chickens do that for you! Ha! :) Happy Easter weekend. Tammy
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty and springlike at your house. Those lilacs look heavenly, wish I could smell them!

Your Easter display is so pretty. I would love to be able to bring so many lilacs inside. I'm still enjoying my tiny sprig in the yard. :) I looked for the red currant ham at Costco but they only had the regular (Carando) one they always have. Bummer. But I do love the usual one, it's the best I've ever had! I love that dark egg, how exotic. Mine both lay brown eggs but they're a little different every day. I hope you have a lovely holiday with your family.
ReplyDeleteYou know lilacs are my favorite, I can almost smell those gorgeous blooms from here. Love your Easter decorations. I have not decorated this year, I am not sure why. I do have things for baskets that I have to get ready. Have a wonderful birthday party/Easter celebration.

ReplyDeleteYour lilacs look so pretty.
The eggs are so cool! Love them
What a wonderful display of your flowers! I can almost smell the lilacs... that tulip is so unusual... and I miss my azaleas that I had up in Washougal, Washington! How neat that you won't have to color your Easter eggs... and the mama bunny knitting is so precious. Love your little peep and rabbit.. do you have patterns anywhere for those???? I just made some of the pretty crocheted hearts that you gave us the pattern for.... made them in pink and white, and gave one to my sister, and one each to my 3 step-granddaughters for Easter... they were so fun to make! Love your blog! Happy Easter too.
ReplyDeleteThe lilacs...I can almost smell them from over here! Lovely.
