Celebrations

Today is our anniversary!  We are celebrating 45 years since our marriage in 1970 and also 51 years since we met and began dating when I was a freshman in high school!  We married in Louisiana where Dayle was working as a helicopter pilot flying workers out to the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.  Dayle was a veteran of the Vietnam war and had recovered from being shot there while flying his helicopter near Khe Sanh.  I had spent time in Hawaii, 7 months during 2 trips there.  We were young and ready to begin our life together.  We got married at a justice of the peace, his family served as witnesses.  We didn't even go on a honeymoon, but went out to a nice dinner in a plantation style house.  Oh.. and I made my own wedding dress by cutting a circle out of a big piece of ivory fabric, cut a hole for the neck and hand sewed lace on the neck and sleeves, drew some lace around the sides and attached it to the dress with a funky faux cameo.  We've had a pretty good life and raised 3 good kids and enjoy 6 grandkids.

In 2003 we remarried on the Portland Spirit cruise ship and finally had all our family around us and we treated them to a dinner cruise.  The Captain of the ship married us with sea and boat themed vows.  Here we are after visiting the bridge/wheel room where I got to steer the ship for quite a ways.  :-)  What a terrible low-resolution image, I can't find the higher resolution photos on my computer.  But you get the idea. Older and not young and thin, but good people.

We are also celebrating our two youngest grandson's birthdays this week, Hayden turns 7 on Friday and Caleb turned 6 yesterday, here we are out to a celebratory dinner where both boys were treated to a candle-topped chocolate sundaes!

It's time for me to head out for swimming with Gracie, but I wanted to share with you our happy day.  Dayle is taking me out to our favorite steak place for a romantic dinner.  Awww.. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
