Jammin' and Celebrating

Our daughter-in-law Kristi did some jam making.  She made me some special low seeded raspberry jam.  She also made marionberry and loganberry freezer jam.  Here is the raspberry puree before she added the sugar and pectin.

Here is my special jam - I have diverticulosis - and have to be careful with seeds and nuts - so Kristi sieved out a LOT of seeds and made me 3 jars of jam.

And here is my breakfast, toasted English muffins with crunchy peanut butter topped with my special raspberry jam.  Yum!

Up in Corbett one of the homes has a truck with a big boom on it and they put a big flag on it to celebrate the 4th of July.  :-)

We went to Costco yesterday to get chicken and ribs for our 4th of July BBQ tomorrow - when we loaded up the car and headed home we noticed the temperature on our dashboard - 100 deg F!  But this is wrong, it showed 101 just a minute later but that photo was fuzzy.  :-)

I went out last night to get a photo of the full moon but it hadn't raised up over the apple tree so this is what I got.  :-)

I just went out to snap a photo of the flag fan banners in the sunshine.

I'm so enjoying our new pebbled and weed free "no-man's-land".  :-)

Oh beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain, for purple mountain majesties, above the fruited plain.  America, America!  God shed his grace on thee and crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea!

-:¦:-·:*'""*:·.-:¦:-·* HAPPY 4th of JULY! *·-:¦:-·:*'''''*:·-:¦:-

I'm loving all the flowers on the deck and you can see them all from the inside of the house through the windows in the dining room which is neat.

Kristi went to the grocery store for a few more things and I asked her to bring me some eggs for the potato salad I'm making for the BBQ.  I asked for cage free brown eggs and look what she brought home!  The coolest egg carton of eggs EVER!  It's blackboard art which is really *hot* right now.  I love this!

It even had this tiny newspaper tucked inside telling how well they care for their chickens.

Kristi also brought home a pretty patriotic colored floral centerpiece for the table tomorrow and a cake for one of the kids that are coming to the BBQ that is having a birthday tomorrow!

These are the flowers in the bouquet, they are growing on succulents, so we can plant them after the party.  :-)

Soon I will head out to meet Gracie for lunch before we swim.  Crab salad is what we're going to have.  Yum!  Oh.. I decided to order more white alpaca to finish my shawl, hopefully it will get here before I leave on our trip!  Which by the way we will pull out early on Wednesday.  Getting excited!  I hope you have a wonderful happy weekend.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. What a lovely egg box and info sheet, brilliant. And your decking is looking absolutely beautiful, you must work very hard on it. Raspberry jam is just about my favourite, such a delicious flavour, well done Kristi. I'm not familiar with marionberries, but I bet they're good too. I'm picking tayberries at the moment, they're really nice. Wishing you a very happy 4th of July and an excellent weekend. CJ xx

  5. Hi Teresa, Happy 4th of July! I love those flag banners, but have never purchased any. I'm thinking that if I go shopping on the 5th, I might just find some for half price. Then when next year rolls around, I'll have them . . .that is if I remember where I store them, LOL. Your jam and English muffins made me hungry:)
Oh, I love the tree branches silhouetted by the moon.

  8. May I borrow Kristi for a few weeks? After all, I'm an invalid right now. Ha! Ha! I jus so enjoy seeing what you've all been up to on the farm. Where did she get the eggs? Love the carton and newsletter. I bought some cage free brown eggs at the store yesterday. As always, I checked to make sure none were obviously broken by looking at them at the store. I keep them in an egg basket in the fridge so took them out of the carton when I got home only to find that two were broken on the bottom and we're stuck like glue! Bummer! They cost too much to lose two eggs. :-( are you pulling your fifth wheel on your trip or staying in hotels? I'm looking forward to going right along with you and Dayle through your pictures.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  10. I don't care for raspberry seeds - they get stuck between my teeth - I always make raspberry jelly.
I have a conical metal sieve (like my mom's, but I bought mine at an estate sale) that has a stand so it can sit over a bowl and it does a fab job of getting 99% of the seeds out. I could use cheesecloth but that seems to be a pain in the pa-tutti.
I'm going to pick a few more raspberries tomorrow so I'll have enough juice to make the jelly.
    Happy 4th!
    Safe driving on your trip.

  11. Happy 4th of July Teresa (and family). Now you've got me curious as to what peanut butter topped with jam tastes like? I've heard of PB and jelly - that, I imagine would be the same as what you ate ?? Never tried it though. Love that picture of the moon with the branch in front of it - very creative. I see (above) that Betsy is after Kristi too - don't forget who gets her first. :)

  18. It looks like you had a fun celebration! The jam looks delicious. I would enjoy making raspberry jam someday. I can't pick any here so I always wait for them to get really cheap in the store, which doesn't happen often here. Hopefully someday. I hope you had a nice time with Gracie. Stay cool!
