Yesterday was one of those rare weekdays when I didn't have any commitments. So, I asked my dear husband if he would like to accompany me on an Autumn drive to enjoy some of the trees that I'd seen turning lovely colors. So, off we went to see what we could find. There is a long line of trees near Mt. Hood Community College that is always stunning.. this is them. I believe they are Sweet Gum trees.
I spied this Maple in a parking lot. It's kind of bronze.
More beautiful color on Stark Street.
Yellow.
And gold.
We got the car washed, filled the gas tank, went out for Chinese lunch and bought a bag of dog food.... this is that line of Sweet Gum on our way home. What's neat about these trees is they turn ALL the colors.. not just one. Green, yellow, orange, red and even purple leaves. Amazing.
I turned the corner and we pulled off the road and Dayle snapped some shots for me of the sun illuminating the leaves.
Oh so pretty..
Each tree a different shade of fall.
Oh!
Pretty!
Our Vine Maples in our woods are not at their peak color as yet.
I just got some fresh air and walked down to our pasture as I'd spotted some color on our pear trees.. and yes, it's turning colors!
There are 3 pear trees left in our pasture, I believe that there was an orchard of them at one time here in the days of yore.
I popped into Pier One Imports yesterday hoping to find some fall colored candles and I found just the right thing! I look forward to lighting candles in the evening during the darkening Autumn days. I got in a bit of trouble with Kristi.. she said I have enough candles! But not in these colors! LOL!
I will be working on my Treasurer's report for the Portland Women's Forum today. The meeting is tomorrow. I'm avoiding the gym today as it's an open house where everyone can bring their friends and family and I was worried that the pool would be a zoo. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :-) I hope you're having a wonderful week! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
The bronze tree is just like the one in my yard. Love that tree!
ReplyDeleteYou're right to avoid the gym today. No one wants to swim when it's a zoo - (smile). 😜
One can never have too many candles. Love those colors!
I'm looking forward to this Fall turning into a bone chilling season, but it looks like a cooler version of our usual summers. Oh well, if I decorate enough with autumn colors I can squint and dream it's Fall inside and out. Give Buddy a hug from me. (((Hugs)))
I'm laughing about the candles. You can never have too many candles. What if there's a power cut! The trees are absolutely glorious. Still lots of green here, we're not as advanced with autumn yet. It's been warm and sunny this week, so hopefully the colours will be good when the time comes. Enjoy the rest of the week Teresa. Don't feel guilty about avoiding the pool for one day, you are normally so very good at going regularly, I'm always impressed with how often you go. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteLove the autumn colors especially as we head our Indian summer.
ReplyDeleteOh soooo pretty!!! Thanks for sharing :) I laughed about the candles, too. Did I tell you I got some pumpkin pie spice scented votive candles and enjoyed burning some several times before I got this cold?
ReplyDeleteHope your report is falling into place. I'm working more on my shawl. xx
Happy almost October Teresa! Our trees are all turning too. In fact some have already lost ALL of their leaves. I think it's a bit early for this. Today is 82 and I'm so enjoying the sunshine. I love candles too but find myself using the sense burners quite a bit so I don't have to worry about the flame. Hope your report is going well.

Betsy
What a beautiful array of colour, such a stunning sight. I smiled about the candles, I am a fan also and loved the colours you have chosen. I also love some of the scented ones, evoking the senses and bringing back some great memories. Good luck with your report, I wouldn't have gone swimming either.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous post today Teresa. I love all the colours of Autumn as you do. All of your pictures are beautiful. Of course we're coming into summer and our trees are blossoming - I hope we get a good crop of apricots this year and also hope we can beat the Sulphur Crested cockatoos at getting them off the tree. We usually get a nice lot of cherries around Christmas time but the birds love them too and its always a battle there too. Hope all your books balance :) xox
ReplyDeleteYou got some beautiful photos of the trees. I just love fall, it's my very favorite season! I hope all went well with your report. Hope you have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat incredibly beautiful trees, the colours are just stunning aren't they! Your photos of them are beautiful too. So nice for the two of you to go leaf hunting together. I like your candles, and understand the need to have some new ones! xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful just beautiful tour of your colors. OH MY OH MY
ReplyDeleteLovely autumn colors Teresa and I love your new candles! The photo of your pear trees/barn looks so peaceful...
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Aimee
Gorgeous photos . . . thank you for sharing them with us. Please bottle up your energy and put it on the market, I want some :)
ReplyDeleteThe colors are gorgeous Teresa! We are not there yet, but I hope the colors do change. They say with the dry weather we may not get the colors, BUT it's rainy now.....so who knows
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, xoRobin
The tress are magnificent, just so beautiful. Start burning those candles right now and Kristi won't be able to say a thing. So sorry to hear of that horrible shooting, what is wrong with people? Of course if there were more restrictions on guns.......

Meredith
