We had a nice rain yesterday which we needed. And today there is not a cloud in the sky.. sunny and gorgeous.. and warm! 72 deg. F! The flowers in the pots on our deck are still going strong.. I wonder when the first freeze will occur?
I'm working on the neat ripple afghan for my niece's wedding gift every minute I can. I want to get it to them to enjoy. Especially when it's cooling off soon. I thought that this neutral colorway would work for them even if they are decorating in a modern theme. I've noticed that in the glossy magazines that modern decorated homes will have a handmade throw across a chair to bring in a crafted element. I hope they like it! I'm using Premier Home cotton yarn.
After taking the photo of the blanket I looked out the dining room window and enjoyed all the things still in flower on the deck.
This little corn plant brings me visual joy with it's lime green stripes. For some reason I am drawn to lime green.. do you have a color that just gives you the thrills?
Last night we took our grandsons out to pizza at "Flying Pie Pizza". They have video games and a great salad bar. They do not spare the meat on their pizza, do they? Of course Dayle and I got full on our salads and didn't eat a lot of pizza so we will be having it for lunch. And maybe dinner? LOL!
My favorite pizza toppings are Italian sausage, black olive and fresh mushroom. What is your favorite pizza?
Do you have fun weekend plans? We have an unscheduled weekend which is just fine with me. I am so busy during the week that I use the weekend for de-stressing. Maybe I'll get that afghan done? Enjoy yourself. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Your flowers are really happy on your deck! My fuchsias are reviving a bit after the long stretch of hot dry weather, but did not grow as full as I had hoped they would when we planted them last Spring. The blanket you are making is elegant and practical, too, and you are making good progress. I met a friend for lunch yesterday and we had another family birthday celebration last night so I have not made any further progress on my shawl, but plan to this weekend! Sausage with "everything" is my favorite pizza topping :) Swimming today? xx
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Indian summer Teresa. Your blanket is perfect for a modern home, what a lovely gift. Enjoy your restful weekend....I must be a rarity as I don't eat pizza! x
ReplyDeleteI don't eat a lot of pizza but would go for something quite plain as I don't like anything too spicy. Love the blanket you are working on perfect addition to any home, a truly wonderful gift made with love. No plans for the weekend, like you taking it easy.
ReplyDeleteLook at those pizzas! They remind me of a pizza place in Colorado called Beau Jo's, which sells what they call "mountain pies"; basically gigantic, piled-high, thick-crust pizzas and you save the crust for last and eat it with honey all over it. I wish I had one right now. :) I hope you have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely your deck is looking. Dark plummy red flowers always speak to me, but I do like the zingy lime green as well. Favourite pizza - artichokes, black olives, mushrooms and a little shredded leek. Scrumptious. Could eat one now in fact. Wishing you both a good weekend. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteThat pizza looks amazing. Nothing like a freshly made pie! I love most everything on a pizza, except anchovies. Festival weekend for us and then a busy week ahead. Fall break will come in a couple of weeks. We will need it!
ReplyDeleteLove your afghan. Beautiful neutral colors.
ReplyDeleteI love the rain we received. Today I went out in the lovely sunshine and weeded my front entry flowerbed. So easy. My husband - god bless him - wanted to do yardwork before it rained.
Hoping it will be nice next weekend for the Flock & Fiber show - shall we try to meet up again?
What a lovely present Teresa - good colour choice as well. Still have a lot of flowers in pots that are looking good. I enjoy chilli beef pizza but also simple like mozzarella and tomato ones. I'm definitely drawn to blues and lilacs. Enjoy your weekend. DH and I may pop to garden centre for lunch and I'm looking to replace one of my pots. Hugs Anne x
ReplyDeleteMy plans are to work on my ripple also. I am loving yours, the colors are perfect as they will go with every decor. Your flowers are beautiful, our flowers have had it with all the heat.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
They are going to love that afghan. We had pizza last night for dinner at home. No meat, just cheese and veggies. Hope you have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteIndian Summer is the best! It's my favorite time of the year.
ReplyDeleteYou know me Teresa! Purples of all shades are my absolute favorites. Your flowers are looking great. My geraniums are also reviving...just in time to freeze within a few weeks. Oh we love pizza! We just had Dennis stop at Pizza Hut last night after work and bring pizza out to the 6 of us here at the lake. Yum. We like the super supreme with everything on it. But I'll eat any kind. :-). It's cool this morning. The furnace in the trailer has been cycling on and off all night. Fall is definitely in the air.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Beautiful afghan. We don't have to much in flower anymore. But the coleouses help in that dept.
ReplyDeleteI love that afghan! Great choice and made with love. I m a pizza snob from Chicago and I Like the looks of your pie. My ideal pie has deep crust and sausage and green peppers!
ReplyDeleteI like your ripple blanket, very thoughtful of you to think of the style they would like. Your pots on your decking look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteYou do have so many beautiful blooms. Our growing season is getting closer and I'm planting more and more even though it's still hot as heck (109 for today). It's gotta cool off one of these days. The blanket is coming along nicely. Enjoy your Sunday!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I visit you I always leave saying wow! Look at your deck with those gorgeous containers of plants and blooms and oh this geranium!
ReplyDeleteLove a good pizza myself!
xo

I hope you have had a good weekend and enjoyed some crochet time! xx
ReplyDeleteYour afghan is looking lovely Teresa....I love the colour choice and it will be a perfect gift....Ooooh, how pretty your pots look on the decking!
ReplyDeleteHappy new week!
Susan x
The ripple blanket looks really great. I love that colour combination and have used it a few times, including for a baby blanket.
ReplyDeleteI am an admitted pizza snob. I love my Chicago style deep dish pizza - Gino's is my favorite. And I love the deluxe the best, with the sausage in a thin, thin patty as big as the pizza. Any pizza anywhere else is just not the same. Moving to Michigan was hard in that respect!
ReplyDeleteI love your deck, the flowers make it so inviting. I would never leave home if I could look at that all day long. Do you ever have trouble with critters like raccoon or possums? I use to have about 14-15 pots full of flowers but the animals would tear them all apart. Somewhere I lost interest in working my butt off to only have it all destroyed.
ReplyDelete(((HUGS))) Susanne :)
Oh yeah, pizza, my favorite food, pepperoni, mushrooms, banana peppers, black and green olives and of course BACON! Yum.............
ReplyDeleteSusanne :)
