Farm Market, Birthday Lunch and Chinook Salmon

Hello my friends.  On my way home from swimming with my friend Gracie on Wednesday, I decided to drive through the countryside and stop at Burns Farm store and pick up some fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables.  And a pumpkin.  :-)  Oh how I love this place, they are so friendly and I love getting things grown nearby.

This place is the best.

What colors are better this time of year than orange and yellow?

Everything you ever wanted is right there for the picking.  :-)

They have a big fluffy Pampas Grass plant on the side of the store.. oh how I want one of these in my yard.

I brought home 2 cabbage, red and white, a cauliflower, 3 zucchini, a carton of little tomatoes of all sorts, 6 "pluots" (a variety of plum/apricot), 3 different kinds of apples and 2 BIG apples for the boys - 6 ears of corn which we had for dinner before I took this photo and a pumpkin.  And a partridge in a pear tree.  LOL!

I wish you could see how big these BIG apples are, but this one is next to a normal sized apple.

They also had some locally roasted coffee which leaped into my cart.  I just had some this morning and it was delicious!  What drew me to the coffee is Portland Women's Forum State Scenic Viewpoint used to be known as "Chanticleer Point".

Here's my pumpkin next to the huge Chrysanthemum that Dayle brought home for me from his last trip to Costco.

I organized a birthday lunch get-together for my older twin siblings - we met at Multnomah Falls before Denise and I began our afternoon shift of volunteering in the visitors center.  Our table in the Falls Room had this view.  :-)

My brother Robert aka Rob and the gift from his "womb mate" Roberta.

Sister Roberta with her gift from her brother and his wife.

The party goers pose in front of the falls after a walk up to the viewing plaza after lunch.  From left, Denise, me, D'Ann, Rob, Roberta and her husband Ted.

The Benson Bridge.

Multnomah Falls.. the big leaf maples have yet to turn gold.

We struck up a conversation with this little one's father and his parents visiting from Sweden.  Isn't she cute?

After work yesterday, our son Travis went fishing with his friend from his job, Ernie and his supervisor Jerry and look what he brought home?  He caught TWO Chinook Salmon!  The big one is 31 inches long and the other one is 29 inches.  There was some fish cleaning and filleting going on in our kitchen last night.  Guess what's for dinner tonight?  What do you suggest as side dishes for salmon?

I'm so pleased that our Dahlia's are still blooming.

Can you say PINK?

I'm staying home today and crocheting.  It's raining and I'm tired.  What are you up to?  We're having salmon baked with raspberry chipotle sauce, cauliflower and Yukon gold potatoes.  Sound good?  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Pluots are delicious, I've had them dried and they are one of the most scrumptious things I've ever tasted. Wishing you and Dayle a brilliant weekend. CJ xx

  6. I LOVE salmon! We have it on a very regular basis here. Mmm. I wonder it my hubby dear would like raspberry chipotle sauce...I adore farm stores-especially at this time of the year. Love all the produce, baked goods some have and the autumn colored plants. Let me be honest here--I just love pretty much everything about this time of the year :) Looks like you had a great birthday/family celebration and, of course, the beautiful setting is perfection!
    Blessings,

  17. My brother Michael and I got to talking about the State of Oregon and of course being the world traveler he and his wife have been there and to your falls. He proceeds to tell me about the falls and I inform him I had the best authority ever on that falls and plenty of pics that I could check out from good friend Teresa. I told him you are very involved with activities there. Once again you have some pretty pictures to share with us. The produce is great, I am a fan of buying locally too from the area fruit and veggie markets. Nothing beats fresh.
