Giveaway, Spinning and a Puppy

I want my readers to know how much I appreciate you - so I will be giving away these Autumn colored Millefiori lamp-work glass beads made in Milan, Italy, topped with a Carnelian, with sterling silver daisy spacer and ear wire.  I will send anywhere in the world.  I'm all for making things easy.  Just leave a comment for 1 entry.  Tell me if you're a follower, you get two entries.  If you post a link on your blog - three entries.  :-)  If you don't wear earrings, I will change these to stitch markers for you if you like.  Or you can hang them on a silver chain to make two necklaces.  DEADLINE:  Sunday October 11th, I will announce the winner on Monday the 12th.  Good luck!

I have two spinning wheels.  One older one, which I do love, it's handmade of solid cherry wood.  Dayle brought it out the other day for me to oil - I used coconut oil and it looks and smells so nice! :-)  I was told by the person I got it from that it was made by hand in New England.  I wish I knew the name of the person who made it and more of it's story!

Cherrywood is really glorious.. don't you think?

There needs to be one repair on it, the "Drive Band Tension Adjustment Screw" has been a bit stripped out.  I have no idea how I can get it fixed.  Ideas?

Our son Shawn and his family got a new puppy, so they invited us over for dinner yesterday to visit and see the new baby.  How many people can you get on one sofa?  6?  Michael was playing a game and our little grandsons were watching intently.

Introducing "Shadow" - a black German Shepherd.  She joins Schatzie and Meeka.  I held her and she cuddled with me and stuck her little nose around my neck and I was smitten.

Kristi found the alpaca roving that I bought last year or so, I look forward to spinning it up.

I got a large batch of gray alpaca roving and a nice dark chocolate brown/black one too.

Can you believe that we are having another sunny day?  It's 75 deg. out, too.  What is with the weather?  This is very unusual.  I'm starting to think that Oregon is the new California.  :-)

I am going to sell my Kromski Polonaise spinning wheel.  Anyone interested?  They retail for $800 but I'm selling mine for $500.  This is what it looks like, but this is the Kromski professional photo, not mine.

OK.. I did swim on Friday and I'm heading off soon today.  What are you up to this week?  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  4. I love that photo with the sunlight streaming in. We've been having glorious weather here too, although there are a few showery days forecast now. Your spinning wheels are gorgeous, I shall look forward to seeing the roving turned into yarn. Thanks for the lovely giveaway, you know I'm a follower I think! Wishing you a good week, and well done on all the swimming. CJ xx

  5. Beautiful wheels Teresa. I would love one, but since I just sold my spinning wheel last year I don't think I'm getting another one. There isn't enough time to do all of the things that I want to anyway. It's almost 80 here today too. I was at the lake but had to come home for physical therapy. So sad. The sky is SO BLUE today. that is a very cute addition to your family. I love puppy kisses. I would love to be entered in your giveaway and you know I'm a follower too. I would rather have stitch markers. :-)
Have a lovely day my friend,
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  11. Lovely earrings! But let my chance go to someone else ... as a beader I have too many earrings already. :)

Cherrywood is so beautiful - that and maple are my favourite woods. What a lovely spinning wheel and the roving looks wonderful.

  13. Your new granddog is adorable. I'm not in to win as I don't wear earrings but they are lovely. It is interesting how our weather has been so warm. At least the nights are cooler and am enjoying the stars when we are out walking in the evening. Spinning wheels are so pretty and I've admired how people use them to spin fiber into yarn then make that into lovely pieces of work. Have a good week my friend!

  19. If you Google 'fix stripped screw' you'll find several options.
The weather has been glorious especially with the sure knowledge that it will cool down at night. Indian summer at it's best.

  20. What beautiful colours in your ear rings and what a lovely family you have. I hope you are enjoying your cooler weather we are having a very hot beginning to our spring/summer season here in Australia.

  21. Hi Teresa. Love the earrings you made. They are just right for the autumn season. Please include me in your giveaway, I am a follower and my next post will be this week, so stop by in the next few days. Your spinning wheels are darling. I have a friend who has a huge one, but not sure if she even use it or just has it around for decoration. I have no clue how to find the part you need to fix it. Maybe going to one of the yarn and fiber shows where they often have women spinning would be of some help in solving your problem. That pup is cute! He has come to a family where there is plenty of love and attention to go around. It helps to be with animal lovers too. Our weather has been lovely too. It was foggy this morning with plenty of delays. We are expecting rain on Friday. The farmers are working like crazy to get the crops off their fields before that rain comes.
    (((Hugs))) Susanne :)

  30. First of all the puppy is totally adorable. I love the earrings but I have a pair from you already, it might be a bit much for me to enter my name and expect pair number two! If I could spin I would buy that wheel from you in a heartbeat, but I can't add another time consuming craft to my schedule. Enjoy your beautiful weather,
    Meredith

  31. Teresa,
It just dawned on me where you could get some information on your cherry spinning wheel.
There's a great group of hand spinners at the Aurora Colony Hand Spinners group in Aurora - just beyond Canby OR. Wheres their web site ~ http://auroracolonyhandspinners.com/wp/
You can contact them through their web site and perhaps send a photo of your wheel so they identify it for you.
Also the Old Aurora Colony Museum might be of help, too. http://www.auroracolony.org/
Please let us all know what you find out. ((Hugs))

  32. I'm in love with Shadow .... but then who doesn't love a baby puppy? She's a real doll and I'm sure she'll become a much loved member of her new family. Your spinning wheels are lovely - my favourite is the first one pictured - possibly because it looks more 'compact' and the rose wood is beautiful. I've never spun wool but enjoy watching others do it. Must be off now ... have to go to the library, bank, supermarket and service station (for petrol). xox

  35. What a darling puppy. Spinning wheels are pretty to look at. My mother has a very large one she used to display, not sure if it works (probably not). It's in her attic now. My daughter spins; she has a petite Ladybug wheel, so it doesn't take up much space. Please don't enter me in the drawing, but the earrings are pretty.

  36. Hello Teresa. The puppy is so cute. Love the spinning wheels though I've never ever tried to use one. Like the colours of both collections of rovings. The earrings are very pretty but don't worry re including me in the draw - am sure the postage would be great. Hugs Anne x
