Hello my friends! As you may be aware, this time of year I am a heart-aholic. So.. on Facebook I started a group a few years back called "We Love Lucy II". I am in the Ravelry group called "We Love Lucy" but I spend more time on FB so I thought.. why don't I start a group here? WELL.. it's done well my little group and now we're up to 2,259 members! The page is dedicated to those crafters who are inspired by Lucy at Attic25 blog fame. To join the group on Facebook, click the link above for "We Love Lucy II" and then click on the button there to "Join Group". I'd love to see you there and lots of wonderful crochet ideas are shared. Which brings me to a new project that I found there. Here is a link to the lady who created the pattern - Crochet Milan. I had just the colors I need in KnitPicks Curio cotton thread!! I plan to launch into this over the weekend.
I have a big girl camera that scares me. It's a Nikon D5100. I was so confuzled when I tried to use it when I got it that I put it in the closet and tried not to think about it. My first attempts at a moon shot was a big fuzzy white blob. I got it out the other day and charged up the battery and had to try to remember HOW TO TURN IT ON.. gah.. and how to change the zoom lens to the regular one.. gah.. and how to take a photo.. GAH.. but this is one of the photos I got with it. My lighted Valentine tableau.
Trying out a closeup.
And trying it out on a flower on a new orchid that Travis and Kristi got for me. To be honest I'm not that sold on the BGC. It's heavy as heck and I don't think these photos are any better than my pocket sized Lumix! Oh well. I still think I might need a Lumix middle of the road camera that has a better zoom than my pocket one.. I want better photos of the swans and the moon. :-)
It's a swim day.. and we have no weekend plans. How about you? ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Oooohhh sounds like a very grown up camera lol - still getting used to the lumix one!!! We are supposed to be having our granddaughters tomorrow for a sleepover. Not plain sailing at moment. Long story. Hugs Anne x
ReplyDeleteI love that new pattern Teresa. It's beautiful. I can't wait to see how yours turns out. I'm always amazed by the beautiful photos that you take. I'm down to just using my iPhone camera for everything and trying to be content with that. Ha! I have an appointment at the cardiologist in about an hour and then I'm hoping to go to knitting group this afternoon with some friends. We have no plans for the weekend. We were supposed to be gone on the cruise still. Maybe we'll go out to breakfast tomorrow. I'm taking dinner over to Larry and Nita tonight since she's in a wheelchair for a few months with her broken foot. Have fun swimming with Gracie. Love you!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Betsy
Not sure that I could cope with such a good camera, technology and I are not good friends. You have certainly taken some amazing photos, I love your Valentines tableau. I am going back to my daughters Sunday and staying until the baby arrives. Enjoy your swim.
ReplyDeleteI have a big girl camera, I use it but you can see by my photos I am no photographer. I love the new heart pattern, you are so inspirational but I am not joining in, I am still into the Hitchhikers you got us all into.
ReplyDeleteHave a great swim,
Meredith
You will eventually love your big girl camera..although I must say..I have always found your shots..good enough to take second looks... at least:)
ReplyDeleteThe bridge photos lately were lovely! What were you using? A point and shoot?
I do have one I love too:)
But a DSLR w/ lenses ..so fun.
I agree re the camera Teresa. As you know I too only use a Panasonic Lumix....they are such brilliant cameras. I have now owned 3 and wouldn't change to anything else. My phone fills in the gaps when I don't have my camera with me. Hood luck with your crochet group. Enjoy your weekend x
ReplyDeleteCheers for you trying out your big girl camera! I really like the new pattern you found, and I hope you enjoy following it. I plan to get some more rows knit on my Super merino blanket while watching the Super Bowl this weekend :) See you soon! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you dear Teresa for the fabulous pattern link. I just crocheted one of your heart patterns. Your photos look great with your new camera. I especially like the table shot with the lights. Have a fabulous weekend, Pat xx
ReplyDeleteId love a big girl camera but have decided my little pocket sized Samsung who I call Kevin, is just fine for now. Lovely photos though. Your table setting is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI've started keeping Kevin on the kitchen windowsill, to take photos as there are lots of spectacular Rainbow Lorikeets, Honeyeaters and Wattle birds are hanging out in my pear trees jist outside the kitchen window eating all the fruit. No loss to me as the nashi pears were full of bugs. And theyre such beautiful birds!
Gorgeous photos, your Valentines table looks so very cosy. Lovely to see those twinkling lights against the gloom outside. Not many weekend plans here. The forecast is for gales and heavy rain all day tomorrow. Might be allowed to stay at home... I hope you have a lovely weekend. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteI stopped carrying the big, heavy Minolta years ago. DD loves it so it was given to her.
ReplyDeleteI do fine with my phone camera and my small Nikon coolpix. I'm happy to view your photos of the moon.
I might look into the lumix if one of mine fails.
Swim little girl!
I'm sure you'll get used to the camera over time. I remember that it took a few months to get really accustomed to my first DSLR when I began using it. I'm no longer using Facebook (still have an account but haven't logged in for over two years), but I remember your Attic 24 group. I thought it was a nice group. I'm glad it's been so successful. I hope you have fun with the new pattern and that you enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteJust keep practicing with that camera! Don't put it away! You can do it!
ReplyDeleteThe valentine's tableau really shows what your big camera can do with lighting and ambiance...it's magic. Lovely shot. My BGC is in the closet, too. I have an older Lumix with a nice Leica lens which has served me well in the last several years, and now it's mostly iPhone. I will have to check into your Lucy facebook group. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh I love the Heart Mandala pattern. .. I am making it up right now! I have requested to join the Lucy page, can't wait to check it out! Have a great weekend xx
ReplyDeleteI love my Nikon, but I can understand why others might not like a DSLR. I think there are pros and cons to both DSLRs and super zoom cameras, and it's awful nice that people have many options to choose from today:) As far as this weekend, I am looking forward to getting outside after all that has happened lately and enjoy some drier weather while everyone else is watching TV. LOL
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Aimee
Lovely mandala......my samsung tablet takes neat simple pics so today took quite a few of baby April xxoo
ReplyDeleteAll your pictures are gorgeous Teresa! I love the heart mandala. You will learn all about your new camera with practice I am sure.....you are a very clever lady. I have found recently that I like taking pictures with my little camera more than with my much bigger heavier fancier one and no one can tell the difference from the pictures!! Wishing you a very happy weekend.

It takes a while to get used to the dslr cameras. They are a bit intimidating. But I think once you get the hang of it you'll love it. Don't give up.

Well, I for one think you are doing a bang up job with that newer camera. The pictures are so pretty. I know what you mean about having to learn to use a new toy. They are a bit intimidating aren't they, that is until we use them more and get comfortable with them. I love hearts too, always have, but in nursing I hated cardiac nursing, go figure, maybe it was the color red I loved more. The doily will be fun. Can't wait to see it when you get it going and finished.
ReplyDeleteHey, I posted today...yes, I really did. I know I have been making all those promises and for one reason or another never made it in here to the pc. have a great weekend.
Susanne
Great group success! I will go to check it out on ravelry. Happy swim. Your lights are twinkling. And lovely
ReplyDeleteYour candlesticks look so pretty all lit up.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the heart coaster pattern. I will give that a try this weekend. Still a week until Valentines Day!
I was looking for some new heart patterns the other day. I still make the simple ones that I give away but want to make something different. I'm not a FB person though. I find that my phone is the easiest to use for picture taking and the quality is pretty darn good. I do, however, use my Canon for moon and bird photos though I never really learned to use it properly all the years we've had it. Have a good Sunday.
ReplyDeleteI have a big fancy pants camera, it takes amazing pictures SOMETIMES a but it's so hit and miss clearly it's just luck that I sometimes get it right! I think if I learned a few tips and tricks it could be so much better but possibly also I need to be more patient, I'm definitely a point and click type of photographer!
ReplyDeleteYou're heart scene is so pretty, I love the fairy lights :)

I enjoy my Canon RebelT3. It's not as big as some of the others, which is fine with me! I don't think it's as big as your Nikon though. Have fun experimenting with it and you'll get used to it. Your heart table is so lovely and that window is so neat! I'm catching up with a bit of grocery shopping today, later. Busy last couple days so I couldn't get to it! Have a great week, my friend!
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa! I will have to check out your fb page. I don't spend a lot of time of fb. I don't like how people post the same darn thing on fb as their IG accounts. It is just a time waster for me.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos takes with your BGC!! So pretty. I still think the pocket camera is great!!! Your photos are stellar. Always!
We are watching the game. Eating junk, and enjoying the day. High 80's here. Crazy!! I want winter!!!!
xo Kris
Oh oh oh .. A new camera !! Lucky you. I'd never venture past the point and shoot stage as I'd get totally lost with all those settings. I'm sure you'll have it worked out very quickly though. The photo of the purple flower is gorgeous and of course your heart table looks so pretty. I saw your post on Facebook this morning re the pretty little doily - must check out that - not that I really need any more projects to join my long line-up of UFOs. Have a great week.xox
