Making Flowers

Hello my friends.  I hope you had as relaxing and as nice of a weekend as I had.  I played Scrabble and Word With Friends on my iPad, crocheted flowers and added to my blanket project, watched TV and enjoyed spending time with the family.

The worst part of this pattern or any granny square type pattern are all the color changes.. and all the ENDS.. and all the weaving in of the flipping little offending yarn tips and snipping of them.  I don't save my ends.. I happily toss them in my little refuse basket by my chair.

The next challenge in this pattern is trying to come up with unique color combinations and making sure you try not to do many of the same design.  Some are prettier than others.. some are downright.. why did I do that?  But interestingly when you put them together they all turn out okay?  I try to spread out the more intense colors with the pastels.. but it's hard to not put similar colors near each other.  That might be the part of this that makes you somewhat crazy.. but it's okay.. right?

Then I have favorites.. this one in the middle below is one of them.  I like the raspberry, purple and turquoise.

Which one of them is your favorite color combo?

At first I was doing one flower at a time and adding it.. then I did more at a time and added them.. now I'm doing a bunch of centers and will try that.  I like to mix it up so I don't get bored.  But really.. you can't get bored with this.

Today I head off to my Daughters of the American Revolution meeting, then leave that and go directly to the pool for swimming.  I will come home dragging.  Dayle is doing much better now.  He wants to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and good wishes.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Can I tell you they are so pretty I do not have a favorite color combination; the whole made up of the parts is a symphony of color.

  4. Teresa your blanket is turning out so pretty. I'm working on another red, white and blue granny square lapghan for the VA home right now. And I agree with you on the ends. The ends always drive me crazy. I think your color combinations are very, very nice. I went to the eye doctor this morning. My eyes are so dilated I could barely read your post! I'm glad to hear Dayle's doing better. I've been thinking of him a lot. Have a wonderful afternoon my friend.

  5. Sounds like a lovely relaxed sort of weekend. Your blanket is looking wonderful and I love all the colours but if I had to pick a favourite I'd probably go with the purple one at the bottom left hand corner. I did a similar type of blanket a few years ago and agree that all those ends are a pain, but I had a ball making it - such fun. I put colours I wouldn't normally dream of putting together and it turned out beautiful (my humble opinion).

  8. Picking a favorite is impossible...but...my eyes keep coming back to enjoy seeing the middle middle square and the lower right square :) Dayle, I am so glad you are feeling much better! I enjoyed our swim visit today, Teresa, and hope we can enjoy another great swim on Wednesday! Love to you and yours xx

You are moving right along with that granny creation. I Love them all but the top right square is my favorite. Fireman has begun to swim again this year. He uses Paddles , do you?

  12. Hi Teresa, your flower squares are looking very nice. I hope you're still enjoying working on them. My big flower blanket took almost 6 months to make, it's somewhat tedious work but it's very rewarding. I don't have a favorite of yours or mine either; I tend to see these blanket designs as a forest-for-the-trees kind of thing. They look best as a sum of their parts. :)
