Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

Hello!  How is your week going?  One of the best things about blogging and reading other people's blogs is sharing successful recipes we try.  A very beloved blogger who also lives in Portland not far from me is Alicia Paulson of Posie Gets Cozy blog.  She recently posted about a chicken one pan meal and it looked so good that I printed out the recipe for my DIL Kristi who loves to try new recipes.  (Yes, I'm spoiled!)  Here is the link to the recipe.  Both women used a cast iron frying pan to make the meal and so we used the vintage pan we picked up at an antique store in Missouri when we spent several days with our daughter and two granddaughters on the Lake of the Ozarks last summer.

My friends, you must try this!  It's an easy one pan meal and the sauce is divine!  You might think it would be very mustardy, but it's not.  It tastes like something from a really fancy restaurant!!  We definitely plan to make this again, but next time we might use a bigger pan as that serves 4 and we're 6 and the best part is the boys loved it.. even our picky gourmet 6 year old, Caleb.

Not much else to show you but I thought I'd share my crochet project how it looks when I'm working on it on my lap.  Yarn spaghetti!

I was thinking of the perfume that came in the vintage Devon Violets bottle and so did a bit of googling.. I came up with Yardley "April Violets" so I ordered a bottle.  It arrived yesterday and I really love the fragrance.. it's very light and refreshing.  But it doesn't smell like real violets.  Which is what I was hoping.  Never-the-less, I will use this perfume as it's super pleasant and I can recommend it.

Kristi also got a box yesterday from the UPS man.. she ordered a few things from King Arthur Flour website.  She got some crumpet rings.  The order is for 12 rings.  She read the recipe and it makes 24 crumpets.. so she got two orders of crumpet rings.  When she told me I burst out laughing and told her that we didn't have a pan large enough to make 24 crumpets at once.  I kidded her mercilessly and giggled and laughed.  I can't wait for crumpet day.  I will be sure to record the event.  LOL!!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. I am loving the yarny colours in your blanket. But the thought of sewing in all those ends! I said to one of my facebook friends last night that the person who invents a machine that sews in all the ends will be a Squillionaire!
Thank you for the tip about the chicken dinner. I might give it a go!

  2. Your chicken dinner looks delicious. I hope you enjoy the perfume. I've smelled that one before and it's very nice. I think Yardley has nice packaging. It's funny and weird, but when I was a kid my grandmother who saved everything still had some of my mom's makeup from when she was a teenager in the 60's. It was mostly Yardley products, and while I didn't open any of it, I loved the designs on the outsides of the tubes and bottles. Hope you're having a good week, Teresa.

  3. That recipe sounds yummy I don't know how I missed it on Alicia's blog. Look at all those yarn ends! Lots of weaving in ends in your future. Crumpets. I don't think I've ever had crumpets except when I was in London. We went to a high tea and had scones and crumpets. It was a lot of fun. We have a beautiful sunny afternoon here I hope you're having one in Portland to.
    Blessings, Betsy

  12. Delicious recipe...one to put on my to cook list! And how yummy crumpet day will be :) I loved the little bottles of Devon Violets perfume when I was a child and always used to bring one home from our Devon holidays....the gift shops there used to have shelves crammed with Devon Violets products in white china with those pretty purple and green flowers and I loved them! Your pictures are so pretty Teresa, thank you for reminding me!

  14. Hi Teresa, I'm going to go look at that recipe when I finish typing this, it looks so good, and I have a thing about not wanting to get into a meal planning rut. I think it I an easy thing to do. I need to find someone to show me how to make a granny square. My Momma taught me years along, but I didn't keep it up and forgot how. I'm looking forward to crumpet day . . . I've never had one or even seen one, but have been hearing about them all my life. It will be good to see exactly what a crumpet is :)
    Have a marvelous weekend.
    Connie :)

  16. Hello friend. Thank you for sharing the recipe. I'll have to add it to my list of "recipes to try". We bloggers never seem to run out of good things to salivate over. I am so glad people post their actual work spots in their homes. It does my heart good to know that creative souls do some beautiful work even when they have a mess on their laps and surrounding areas. I bought a fragrance called "L" from a Soft Surroundings catalog. It was a bit pricey but a dab goes a long way. I have had several compliments when I spray a bit on. If I don't get my well fixed and have some running water soon I may have to douse myself with the whole bottle, lol. Just kidding of course.
