Beach with the Girls

Hi there!  I'm going to have to make this quick as we are packing up to head off for more beach adventures and then the drive home.  We're going north to Seaside then Astoria.  Here is Haystack Rock, our view from our room at Tolovana Inn.  I'm looking out at the Pacific Ocean as I type.  :-)

Backing up a bit, this was Wednesday on our way here - we stopped for lunch at Camp 18, a huge log restaurant.

This is the interior.

They have a LOT of bird feeders, so we got to enjoy them while having our lunch.

Look how many Goldfinches at once!

We got to the room and was very pleased with the view and the comfortable living room.

The girls made themselves right at home.

This is what I'm looking at right now.  It was gorgeous when we got here and warm enough to sit out on the deck.

Just a turn of the head north and we see Haystack Rock.

It's such a neat rock!

The girls ran right down to play in the sand and wade in the sea.  They were in heaven.

They enjoyed themselves so much.

Jenna takes care of Paige.

There are feral bunnies here, meaning they aren't wild ones, but tame ones someone let loose and they've multiplied.  Beach Bunnies.  :-)

Yesterday we headed out after breakfast in the room for an adventure to see if we could find agates, we went to Arcadia Beach two miles south.  Not one agate was found, but here are Amy and the girls on the beach looking.

The girls on the hunt.

Another Beach Bunny.. these are a bit out of order but I'm in a bit of a hurry.  :-)

There was an extremely low tide yesterday which is why we thought we'd find agates, Dayle walked a long way around and saw what is usually underwater.

I walked along the wood fence and took some shots.. there were honeysuckle in bloom!

More shots of the seaweed exposed in the low tide.

A honeysuckle ready to burst open.

After the beach adventure we drove into Cannon Beach to look around - we snapped this shot of a beautiful VW Bus!

The gardens in this town are exquisite.. this hydrangea is alongside the walkway.

We went into the candy store to get a bag of saltwater taffy for Kristi and the boys.  They were making Cranberry taffy at that time and it was on their taffy pulling machine!

As we drove out of Cannon Beach we saw another gorgeous VW bus!

The inside of the candy shop.. talk about colorful!  The girls were in heaven!

Across the street from the candy shop was a yarn store!  I took Jenna in and got her a few skeins of yarn.. and I got a skein of self patterning sock yarn.  Yes, I'm going to try a 2nd pair of socks.

Lots of hand-dyed yummy sock yarn.

Then we went to the Wayfarer Restaurant for lunch.  I snapped this of the girls behind the restaurant.

Gorgeous flowers all around the place.

Daisies!

Our super view from the table.. a great lunch.

My girls.

A really pretty variety of hydrangea.

As we returned to our hotel we saw a young Beach Bunny, someone had fed it some little carrots.  Cute!

Evening shot of a fishing boat.

Sea gulls looking for something.. anything.. to eat.

Day is done.. gone the sun..

OK, time for me to pack up for the next adventure.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  3. Oh My Goodness! I don't know where to start on this post. I love it ALL! You know I love the Oregon coast. AND a yarn store. AND Socks that Rock yarn! Tell me you bought some. I've used that yarn and it's wonderful but I didn't know where I could buy it. I'll have to get the yarn stores name for my next visit. Your pictures are beautiful, but my favorites by far are the ones of your girls. You can see the happiness and love on all of the faces. Enjoy and enjoy every moment my sweet friend.
    Blessings,

  8. I'd love to stay in a place right on the water like that ! Pretty pictures of the scenery and so good to see your special girls again. Gosh they've grown haven't they? Trust you to find a place that sells such gorgeous yarn - is it sock weight or WW ? Those bunnies on the beach are so cute and look very cuddly. I suppose they wouldn't let you get close though. Love the one with the carrot. xox

Socks that ROck is awesxome sock yarn. You can probably go to 4s or 5s with that yarn.
it is easier to see what you are doing than on zero and double zeros with the lightest sock yarn. Im so excited. I posted a basic Stephanie purl mcphee sock pattern link for you on my blog today.
