Hello! Yesterday our son Travis and Ernie, his friend from work, took Dayle and the boys fishing on Ernie's boat. They went to a lake in Washington and look what Dayle reeled in! A nice Steelhead. We're having it for dinner tonight. Doesn't he look proud? :-)
I am thrilled with our Stargazer Lily plants. Goodness, they get huge! I never imagined that we could grow such exotic and lovely flowers in pots on our farm.
Dayle brought in the first one to bloom for me to enjoy. The perfume from these flowers is quite literally amazing.
My beloved 4th of July rose is on it's second big bloom, it really produces well all season.
My succulent basket keeps doing so well.. I wonder if I'll be able to carry it over to next year?
The pond and waterfall and garden around it are lush with midsummer growth. Such a nice place to enjoy from the chairs on the deck.
The basket of Moss Roses is filling out.. I just love them.
A close up of a Moss Rose.. aren't they sweet? They are only about the diameter of a silver dollar.
Here is one of Dayle's successes of his wintering over endeavors. This is the 3rd or 4th year he's kept this Bolivian Begonia coming back.
The flower basket that Kristi and Travis got me for Mother's Day is doing fantastic, and the Jasmine perfumes the air.
I am heading to the pool this afternoon for my lap swimming. Tomorrow I volunteer at Multnomah Falls. The weather is predicted to get very hot the next few days. I hope you're having a good summer where you are!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Congrats to Dayle! He does look so proud! It is hot here too, like Africa hot. Stay cool!
ReplyDeleteLOL your stargazers look like the ones I see in catalogs and can never believe they would ever get like that.I have been proven wrong..yikes we get these red beetles that turn to black sludge and eat everything:(
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe yours..nor that fish:)And your flower basket..do you pick off the faded blooms? Honestly it's like a Ripley's Believe It Or Not..good for you.
Our daughter-in-law picks spent blooms off our flowers, isn't that neat? My husband also does it. I carried Stargazer Lilies in my bridal bouquet, so I adore them. You should try a Stargazer, it might do well for you!
DeleteI had some..those red beetles just chew the life out of them:(
DeleteThank you though..Lovely DIL and hubby to pinch off:)
Hi Teresa, I'm just getting caught up with your recent posts. The baby shower was lovely, I'm so glad your family did such a nice event for the new mom. As someone who did not get to have a nice time like that, I think it's very good of your family to do that for her. That is so neat about your new-found cousin, I have always wanted to try that DNA registry myself. The steelhead is huge! That is such a good fish. I'm glad you're all enjoying the new boat so much. Here's to many more exciting adventures.
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I'm sorry you didn't get a baby shower.. I was given one for my first child by the lady next door and it was so exciting for me that I went into labor that very night! You should try the DNA test, it's very interesting. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
DeleteWhat a catch with that huge fish!! Your flowers are just beautiful. I love that begonia. So unusual!

Those lilies are stunners Teresa. Lots of beustiful blooms in your garden. WOW to the fish!! Hoow are you cooking it?
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping by. The lady I met - Darnell- had come all the way from San Francisco to meet fellow crafters!!! It was wonderful to meet her and other fellow bloggers. I cannot believe how far she came to travel around the UK meeting her blogging friends. Hugs Anne x
Can I trade you my japanese green maples (end of season) for a start of your Bolivian Begonia? Seriously awesome. When Flock & Fiber comes around, maybe you and kristi can come out and get these small patio trees - which need to be planted out.
ReplyDeleteYou can throw in a steelhead if you want to.....lol
Yes I loved seeing that fish on facebook he looks very happy....beautiful garden post and that flower is amazing Teresa xoxo freezing again her lol
ReplyDeleteAnne, we baked one half with teriyaki sauce on it and one half with ranch dressing on it.. both were good! We had jasmine rice and hot peas with it. Very good dinner.
ReplyDeleteWhoa Dayle! I'm glad that fish didn't pull him into the lake! Congratulations! Your flowers are all looking so beautiful. We're having really hot weather here too. I came home from the lake today because I have that test at 7:00 tomorrow morning. The A/C here feels really good. :-). I need to find out from Dayle how to overwinter my geraniums. Stay cool Teresa!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
wow, your garden is looking truly wonderful Teresa. I love all your containers and the pretty waterfall.
ReplyDeleteHope you are ok in the heat. It doesn't suit me too well.

That is one gorgeous fish! I'll bet it was delicious.
ReplyDeleteYou two have such green thumbs! Looking at your flowers is better than trying to grow my own. :) Those lilies are simply stunning.
Stay cool!
Dear Sweet Teresa, your garden is so beautiful . . . I personally love it when you post photos. I cannot imagine that if you lifted a leaf or low blooming flower, that you would not find a family of fairies living there. I know how hard and how many years it takes to create a garden as amazing and enchanting as yours . . . not many of us have the knowledge or the green thumb to do this. You or someone in your family is a master gardener, it is beyond beautiful, but I just don't have the words. Your hard work has paid off in having your own paradise :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and that photo of your husband . . . I would frame it. Just look at that proud and happy face :)
I love night blooming jasmine. I may have to find some for our new home .
ReplyDeleteIt has been very hot and humid here. I get a little cranky in the humidity but I try to remember I prefer it to rain and 40s. Storms on the horizon now. Maybe it will cool things for a few hours
That is one huge fish, no wonder he looks so proud. The Lily and indeed all the blooms are looking good.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed eating that great big fish .. that's a beauty Dayle. Teresa, your Stargazer Lily is absolutely gorgeous - as is all your other beautiful flowers. The other thing I noticed is how big your fish are getting (the ones in the pond) - keep Dayle away from them :)
