Flowers, Salmon Dinner and Simba

Hello, how does your garden grow?  We're having lots of flowers which gladdens my heart.  Here is Kristi's Dahlia she got, it's quite unique how it's two tone.

Kristi also got this fun Chinese Lantern plant and it's been fun to see the little globes form.  It's almost as if they should light up! :-)

Here's a shot of the mixed Moss Rose colors - I just love the riot of color on them.

All the wintered over geraniums in full bloom hanging on the back of the house bringing color to the deck and from the inside of the dining room.

I wanted to share how we prepared the salmon that Dayle caught on Tuesday - Kristi prepared it for our dinner on Wednesday.  She baked one half covered with ranch dressing and the other half I suggested we try with teriyaki sauce.  Both were good.  She also cooked up some Jasmine rice in our Instant Pot and served green peas with it.  Delish!

Yesterday our feral cat we've adopted was sitting out in the gravel near Kristi - she'd just fed him and he was companionably sitting near her.  Well.. 3 feet away, but still.. he was with her.

I'm off to swim soon, Dayle is off to get the truck tires rotated for our big camping trip in a few weeks and the boys are enjoying running through a new sprinkler that Dayle got for them.  It's already 94 deg. here!  I hope you're enjoying your midsummer.. it will be gone way too quickly.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. I watered our flowers this morning. I was too tired last nite to do it. My red tiger plant, the one like Kristi has, has blooms coming on. I whacked off some of the leaves and it seemed to help. I enjoy summer with roses and other flowering plants. Tomatoes are coming on too!! Happy weekend to you. Yummy dinner! :-D

  4. I love how the cat is getting braver and brag, even staying so close to Kristi. Summer is at it's peak...I'm even waiting until evening to head to the lake because it's just too hot to be outdoors right now. Hope you find your swim chair. :-)
    Blessings,

  10. I'm definitely going to try doing what you do with your Geraniums next winter. Yours are looking so good. Simba looks quite happy - what a shame he isn't game enough to curl up on your lap yet. It will (might) happen one day :)

  12. That Salmon looks delicious! Just how I like to serve fish. Marinated with rice and vegies or salad. Yummo. I envy you that Dayle was able to catch it. We have to buy it here for $25-35 a kilo. Those summery flowers have me longing for warmer weather here. But only 1 month left until spring and I already have 1 tulip with a flower bud. xox Louise

  14. Do you deadhead your moss roses? I have some this year in window boxes and they aren't blooming as much as I'd like. Maybe they don't get quite enough sun. The dahlias are special!

    1. I occasionally pop off the spent blooms as they dry up and don't look pretty, but the new buds come out right next to the spent ones so you don't want to knock them off in deadheading. These are hot weather plants so they need maximum sun to bloom well. I love them!

  15. Those two toned dahlias are gorgeous!! I have a couple nice geraniums this year that I'd like to keep over the winter. Does Dayle have any helpful hints for me? :)
