We having a lovely run of sunny days. To be precise, the weather is perfect. Cool evenings, warm days, easy breezes.. lovely. The view from the dining room out onto the deck with all our pots of flowers. Happy scene.
I wanted to show you the flowers that Kristi brought to me from Pike Place Market in Seattle. Really pretty. One of the orchids she brought home bloomed again, too. :-)
It's so neat to have one re-bloom.. and pretty quickly too!
Kristi harvested all this zucchini when she got home from their trip - she's going to grate up the big ones and freeze it so we can make zucchini bread all winter. :-)
Our wildcat Simba missed Kristi while they were gone. Dayle spoiled him while they were gone, though.. giving him lots of moist canned food along with the dry. Dayle got close to him and thought the cat liked him and went to pet him and *SWIPE* he got a nice bloody scratch for him efforts. :-)
The guys and Travis' work friend Ernie went fishing yesterday on our C-Dory and took the boys. They caught 2 King Chinook Salmon, they hooked 3 more and lost them right at the boat.. but "boated" 2 of them. Caleb was inside the cabin on his Kindle during this picture. :-)
The guys had a beautiful day for their trip. And this was after the guys got off work and the boys got out of school. Tonights dinner menu will be baked salmon, steamed zucchini in butter and jasmine rice. :-)
This pretty VW Bus was parked in front of the Springdale Tavern yesterday - I stopped dead in the middle of the road to snap a photo. Isn't it pretty?
I just finished this book and it was really good. I highly recommend it. PLUS, I just found out it's been made into a movie which is out right now! I might try to go see it. What amazes me is that this is this woman's first novel!
Eek, I better finish this and pack my swim bag, Gracie will be here soon and we're heading up the Columbia River Gorge for lunch and a swim at the mineral hot springs! I hope your week is going well. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Fresh caught fish and fresh vegetables . . . dinner doesn't get better than that:) Your flowers are spectacular!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, fresh salmon - sounds wonderful! I love this time of year with the cooler nights and pleasant days (though today is still pretty hot in Eastern PA...a cold front by tomorrow with a high of only 78 - YAY). I have been seeing more and more VW buses lately (though not as nice as the one you photographed). I wonder if Simba will ever be tamed....
ReplyDeleteWe're all happy with Simba being a well-fed wild cat. :-)
DeleteWhat's your flower pot secret? Do you miracle grow? Clip them back?
ReplyDeleteDeadheading and plenty of water. Dayle also fertilized all the pots with pellets.
DeleteHow fabulous to cook and eat fresh from your own catch! Mineral springs sound interesting .I have never seen one. I imagine it's healthy. I am off to our heavily chlorinated gym pool but will shut my eyes and try to imagine I am in a fresh air thermal spring!
ReplyDeleteFresh caught salmon and home grown vegetables sound amazing, I do so wish I lived closer so that I could pop over for dinner. Any news on the lost fisherman? Take care.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's some fish .. well done guys. I thought for a minute there we were going to have a Simba 'breakthrough' (and I don't mean Dayle's skin) ... wish he would realise you're good people and wouldn't hurt him. I'll have to look up that book you mentioned. I'm a keen reader - I list all the books I've read each current year down the bottom right hand side of my blog if you're interested. xox
ReplyDeleteMe again Teresa .. Just looked up that book on Amazon and I do believe I may have read it awhile back. Can't actually remember the whole story - might have to re-read it soon. xox PS .. Australian book too.
ReplyDeleteSo many good things today. Purple flowers from Pike Place. Gorgeous late summer days, (we're having those too). Fresh fish and fun on the new boat. AND swimming with Gracie. You have the best life my friend. Tell Dayle I hope he heals quickly. Blessings,
ReplyDeleteBetsy
That was a good book but I was not happy with the ending, is that just me? The boys look like they are in Heaven on that boat!
ReplyDeleteHugs to you,
Meredith
Flowers and fish and fun, but I am sorry Simba is still a wild cat and scratched Dayle! The VW bus is one of the prettiest I've ever seen. Thanks again for a lovely drive through the Gorge, a good swim and a good visit xxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteThat view from the dining room is magical ♥
