Our son Travis and his wife Kristi headed off for a week of adventure to celebrate their tenth anniversary. They sure had fun and even traveled to another country! They went to the Washington coast way up north and then took a ferry to Victoria BC, Canada. I showed you the gorgeous shot of Butchart Gardens they took. My sweet son picked these earrings out for me in Victoria, they are by an artist from the Salish tribe on Vancouver Island. These are Orca. I love them! They really enjoyed adventuring around the island.
They visited the Craigdarroch Castle and were so impressed with the history and the woodwork there. To support the restoration of the building, they bought a gorgeous handmade leather journal.. for me! :-) Isn't it gorgeous?
I love the Celtic designs on this and the two dragons.
After they left Victoria BC they headed to Pike Place Market in Seattle. And there Kristi saw a man who made pens and convinced Travis to get this for me. I feel truly spoiled with the gifts they brought back for me! They also brought back a gorgeous bouquet of flowers from the market.
I've been thinking what I would do in this book. It's so special. I think some sketching will find it's way in here. Kristi said she thought I might want to do some drawing when we head to the coast for Dayle's birthday next month. Thank you, Travis and Kristi! You're so good to me!
I thought I'd show you where we hung my She-Who-Watches bronze sculpture by Lillian Pitt. I wanted it to be where I could see it most - so it's right by my easy chair. :-)
It's to the left of our family room window on the front of the house. I just love this window.
OK.. time to jet off to my DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) meeting - the first of the year after the summer. Then on to swim. Busy busy! I hope you have a wonderful week. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Wow - you scored. What did Dayle get?
ReplyDeleteI love your watercolor of your boats.
What lovely gifts. Congrats to Travis and Kristi. Teresa, I will attend my first DAR meeting on Wednesday - very exciting!
ReplyDeleteHappy 10th Anniversary to Travis and Kristi! I'm glad they had a good trip. I can imagine you enjoying sketching in the journal. I tried sketching an acorn this weekend, and have been arranging the acorns we gathered into different formations trying to find just the right arrangement for sketching :) xx

Sounds like an amazing trip. A wonderful anniversary celebration. You are certainly blessed with a thoughtful family, the gifts are stunning.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy your family had a great time on Vancouver Island. I love the special gifts they brought to you; you have wonderful children! A few years ago, I visited Craigdarroch Castle and bought a wonderful book about the Dunsmuir family entitled "The Dunsmuir Saga". It was a great read as it tells the story of how Robert Dunsmuir started out with almost nothing and later attained all these riches. I hope you're having a wonderful week! Pat xx
ReplyDeleteThe trip sounds very nice ♥ Happy Tuesday ♥
