Swimming in the Hot Springs

Greetings!  My sister Denise, Gracie and I went swimming at Bonneville Hot Springs on Wednesday.  The water was extra warm and it felt nice as my feet were kind of cold, the weather was rainy and chilly.  My sister snapped some photos in the lobby while I brought the car around.  The lodge staff were involved in decorating while we were there.  Below is a cute Santa.

The fire was blazing in the lobby.

The tree was up but not decorated yet.

When we drove over the Bridge of the Gods in Cascade Locks from Oregon to Washington, we enjoyed seeing several lighted displays leading to the bridge.  On the way back it was getting dark already so I snapped a few photos.

I just got these two, but there were many more clever lighted scenes, skaters on a frozen pond and even salmon jumping up a waterfall.  :-)

My son and his friend went sturgeon fishing yesterday afternoon in Ernie's boat.. they did not catch a fish but my son did catch this image which I thought was kind of cool.

Yesterday we attended the Portland Women's Forum meeting which was fun, we exchanged gifts, sang Christmas Carols, had a great lunch and had a white elephant sale.  Then we came home and waited for the furniture delivery man.  They took away our old sofa and love-seat and brought in the new antique red sofa and a chair.  It's a lot roomier in the living room now.  I'm going to decorate in there today and will try to take some photos for my next blog post.

Do you decorate for Christmas?  Do you do it minimally or go all out?  Here's to a wonderful weekend!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Thanks for sharing the neat photos you, Denise and Travis took! I'm glad you had fun at your PWF party, and I hope you stay well and have fun decorating this weekend. A tree, wreaths, and a special tablecloth and candles are my main Christmas decorations. Other Christmas treasures like the wooden Nativity set my folks gave me and the glass jar Nativity scene you made for me I keep out all year to enjoy :) xx

  2. Glad you had a good time at the hot springs. It's quite minimal round here, although we do have a tree and we have a box of decorations. The children love putting them out. Hope you have a good weekend. I shall look forward to seeing your new furniture. CJ xx

  3. I started decorating today, it will take me a few days as I do go a little overboard. I was impressed by the size of the tree even though it wasn't dressed yet and the photo your son captured was a delight. Have a great weekend.

  4. Swimming in a hot springs is something that I have never done . . . I am so cold right now that I would dive right in. The temperature is only 39, but the wind is blowing and it goes right to the bones.
    Wishing you a lovely weekend.

  5. It sounds like you girls had a wonderful time. I enjoyed the photos of your day and can't wait for the furniture "unveiling"! I decorated very minimally this year. No tree as it's just Dennis and I and I just don't have the energy. The little glass nativity you gave me is out all year and I added the ceramic one I made our first year married. A few other snowmen and I'm done. It will be a quiet holiday for us.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  6. Gosh the place where you go swimming is beautiful - must feel like real luxury being there. Its starting to look very Christmassy over there. We haven't started yet - have been tied up with painters doing the inside of the house and the landscaper finishing off the paving at the front. Still waiting for the outside blinds for the back of the house and pergola and then we'll be ready to start thinking about Christmas - after my DD2s birthday on 14th. I was very impressed with those pretty roadside decorations - are they on private property or does the council do them? I also think the photo your son took of that ship is kind of cool. Hope you're enjoying the weekend. xox

  7. Love the night boat shot! We went to a local hotel that decorates lavishly for Christmas. It was good to see it full and bustling with customers. I posted the gingerbread contest photos on my blog today. We do decorate for Christmas. This year I have 3 big felted stockings to put up. We are slowly decorating. Im far ahead in my shopping so we are kind of doing it backwards this year. Always fun and we are expecting snow tomorrow!

  8. Great photos today Teresa. I do decorate as you know but have tried to minimize int he last few years. That means I am down to 7 big bins of decorations that is not including my ornaments. Still I gave a big back of things away this year and plan to give more away next year.

  9. Oh I enjoy the Christmas decor and lights. I've not put our decor out yet. I'll work this week on pulling out different items. Tree. Nativity has been out all year. Maybe put it away in Jan. I decorate less thsn I used to. Need to give away things I don't use any more. Enjoy your new furniture. I'll have to come try it out one of these days. The photos are so pretty!!! We saw the Willamette Queen sternwheeler when we were in Salem yesterday.

  10. So the lodge will still be there but the springs are going to be used for rehabilitation? The light scenes are lovely. I will decorate a bit since both my boys are coming home for the holidays. First I gotta get their room in order. :) Have a good week.

  11. What a beautiful place to go swimming. I would love that! I've been decorating less and less each year. The past two years we have only had a table-top tree instead of a regular sized one. I would like a big tree this year, but time will tell. I haven't done any decorating yet (was out of town last week). Can't wait to see your new furniture!!
