Caleb had his 2nd piano lesson on Wednesday. I really am impressed with his teacher. She is teaching him the "rules" of reading music. Teaching him quarter, half and whole notes. I love listening to what she's teaching him. He even played Old McDonald Had a Farm. She said he is doing very well.
She talks to him the whole time, teaching, explaining and he's learning. :-)
He has to practice 3 times between lessons. He'd doing it right now. It's SO convenient that she comes here to teach.
I volunteered at Multnomah Falls yesterday with my sister Denise. It poured down rain the whole day. We can't park by the lodge now due to the fire and the potential of landslides and rocks falling. So, we had to park out in the middle of the freeway and walk under the freeway bridge and the railroad bridge and over the creek bridge to get to the lodge. It poured the whole way and by the time we got there were pretty wet. Last time we went under the railroad bridge when a train was going over and it was SO loud and quite frankly scary. I'm glad a train was not going over this time. It was too rainy to walk up to the fence to get a photo of the massive amounts of water going over the falls.. it was roaring. I snapped this from my car.. can you see how much rain is coming down?
I snatched this photo off Facebook.. it's hard to get the lodge and the falls in one photo.
I have to go to a meeting soon about the writing of a book about Vista House. Should be interesting. Have a fab weekend!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
I love that shot of the lodge and the falls. We are having rain here today and mild (60) temps. Tomorrow - back to the COLD. Nice that you have a piano teach who will come to the house. hope Caleb is enjoying the lessons.
ReplyDeletelove those doilies and candlesticks on the piano:) thanks for sharing your life;)Someday Caleb will be grateful for the lessons.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! I love Multnomah Falls. Fun to hear about the piano lessons; I thought it was interesting she told your GS how many times to practice. Sounds like you found a keeper!
ReplyDeleteI used to take piano lessons, as a child. I walked to my teacher's house. How wonderful that the teacher comes to the child!!
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon Teresa. Caleb is so cute sitting there at the piano. Your piano looks exactly like mine; is it a Ludwig/New York? It's a shame about the fire devastation in your area. Those falls are amazing with the amount of water coming down. Have a wonderful weekend. Pat xx
ReplyDeleteI love the piano,my grandad had one in his home and I always wished I could learn.Caleb sounds as if he is a natural.Love the photos, your home looks soooo cosy,I could curl up there and have a nap.We get rain like that too lol.xx
ReplyDeleteOh I always wanted to learn to play the piano! Caleb will learn fast- children always seem to pick things up quicker than adults. Those falls look wild!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend Teresa and those falls sure are full of water ♥ Would have been great if we could go to see the falls while doing our British Colombia trip in September, but time runs out. So cute seeing Caleb play the piano, I am impressed with him for sure.
ReplyDeleteA joy to see Caleb learning the piano, I wish I could play. Such a great photo of the house and falls, you are certainly blessed to see such beauty.
ReplyDeleteYou are very busy my friend. The Falls are so beautiful in every type of weather. Hope you dried out!
ReplyDeleteWhen someone in the house plays music, the house just has a whole different joy to it. Im glad Caleb is learning to read music. It is very difficult I think. I got the right hand scale, but my left never caught on. I should have stuck with it. I wish I knew ONE song to sit and play, just one. Our piano just sits there. At Christmas a great neice sat down and played and it was mesmerizing.
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely that he is learning on just one piano. Makes life much easier. Bet you got soaked looking at that rain. Hope you’ve dried off ok :)
ReplyDeleteI'm delighted to see Caleb learning the piano Teresa, I have played all my life and adore it. How perfect that the teacher comes to you too...I wish him well. Gosh that's a lot of water at the fall..keep dry! Enjoy the weekend. Hugs xxx
ReplyDeleteI might add teaching piano in a year and a half.
ReplyDeleteI have all my kids books as well as mine. Music helps the brain understand math. I'm glad Caleb is learning how to play. {much better than beginning violin}.
I think it's fun that you get to listen to the piano lessons and that he's learning music theory too. I think that's as important as playing the notes. I also enjoyed seeing the doilies. It makes my heart happy! :-) The falls are so pretty. We made reservations for the fall to go to Beverly Beach State Park for a week but I'm hoping to make a trip over there before that. We'll have to see. Home late last night and it's good to be here but missing our girls.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Hello Teresa. Lovely seeing / hearing all relating to your grandson and his piano lessons. Our eldest son had lesson from 7yrs old until he went to Uni at 18 yes old! How we then missed his playing and concerts. Enjoy ! Falls look impressive! Hope you have had a super weekend. Anne x
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are able to enjoy the boys lessons and practice! I enjoyed seeing the Falls in the rain but am sorry you got so wet. I got caught in the rain while out several weeks ago and had to change my clothes when I got home because I was so wet! :) xx
