📖 A Good Book 📚

I am enjoying the sunflowers on the dining room table and the sunshine this week.  It's been a hot one, so I'm thankful we have a couple of AC units which keep our home pleasant.

So.. I finished the Peter May trilogy set on the island of Harris, Scotland in the Hebridean islands.  They were good!  But you know how it is.. you finish a book and feel bereft.. what now?

I had been tempted by this title on several occasions but didn't tap on the "Buy" button.. then I was reading one of the blogs on my list and saw one of them was reading this and liked it, so this is my new "read".  I'm really liking it so far, set in the South in the swamp.. I won't tell you anymore as if you want to read it I don't want to ruin the story for you.

On Facebook they have this feature where they show you photos of what you posted on this same day years ago.  This popped up on that page, it kind of took my breath away because it was my sister Roberta who posted this 8 years ago.  Yes, the same sister that we lost not long ago.  It was like she was reaching out from the other side.

Our son Travis, his wife Kristi, their boys Hayden and Caleb, Dayle and I were enjoying ourselves on the little island at Waldo Lake and my brother Robert, his wife D'Ann and their daughter Jessica.. and my sister Roberta paddled up to say hello as they passed by in their kayaks.. and my sister snapped this photo.  What a treasure it is.

And look.. who has decided that when no one is looking she jumps on our bed to nap.  Gotcha!  Silly dog.

Well... time to head off to swim.  Then back home to read some more!  LOL!  Do you have any weekend plans?  We don't.  Which is fine by me.  Have a good one!!
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. Happy Friday Teresa! I almost purchased the Peter May books when Lorraine shared about them. I have so many book piled up to read though and I never seem to read much anymore because I have so much knitting to get done.
I love the photo of Waldo Lake. How precious to have yet another memory of your dear sister to hold onto.
Meeka is one smart dog. What a sweetie she is. Chloe sleeps on our bed when we're not in it too. She's such a baby.
We plan to go the the Texas Roadhouse tomorrow for dinner for our anniversary. We've never been there before and it's been recommended by lots of people. The one we're going to is in Coeur d'Alene but they are building one close to our house right now.
We're hoping to get our trailer back next week, but who knows? The weekend will just being hanging around home with a trip to the lake tomorrow to work on the sprinkler system there.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  3. Your dining room looks so bright and cheerful. What a treasure that photo is, I love taking casual family photos like that. Where the Crawdads Sing is our next book club book but there is a 15 week waiting list for it. We are meeting in a couple of weeks so I guess I'm going to have to buy it!

  8. Thanks for the book recommendations, I’m about to start the second in the Lewis Trilogy by Peter May. He’s such a good writer. Lovely to see such a special photo of your sister especially as you only recently visited that area with family. Hope you enjoyed your swim. The water here is lovely and warm and I’ve been swimming nearly every day. B x

  9. You'll be pleased to hear that the Lewis Trilogy is not the only series of books Peter May has written: there is another series centred around another McLeod, Enzo. Here the link so you can find out more: http://www.ur-web.net/PeterMayMain/EnzoPage.html

Your kayaking family trip sounds like so much fun, and the weather looks just perfect for it, too. Have a good weekend. xx

Oh what a treasure to have the photo of your sister come up. Meant to be. She is your angel now!
We just walked around the lake, to see all the tourists. It is lovely out. Plans: knit , blog, continue to clean up now that we are back to just the two of us . I weeded a ton today. Watered and weeded.

  11. I'm so glad a sweet memory came to you on FB, Teresa! Your dining room looks so nice and fresh painted yellow--the sunflowers are perfect. I was going to buy some today, but sadly they looked awful. We're quiet this weekend here--maybe something good on the grill and that's about it.

  14. Your dining room looks so lovely and sun filled...love the table cloth and your flowers. I always have to have a book to read...I feel lost if I don't have one to pick up and be immersed in. I haven't read the Peter May ones though so will put them on my list. It must have given you quite a shock when the photo Roberta took appeared like that....so lovely to remember your dear sister and those happy family times. Have a great week dear Teresa XXX

  16. I love your bright, happy dining room with your sunflowers and yellow walls. Patch would love to get up on our bed too but so far we haven't caught him at it so I think he's being good... for now. It's really warming up here too. Winter only finished 4 days ago and we're already talking about putting the a/c on of an afternoon. :( xx Susan
