Dahlia Blanket, Mocha and One Pot Meal

I got my 1st segment of my Dahlia blanket done!  I am on #teamrogue - in other words, I am doing my own version.  I took two colors out of the mix that I felt did not go - the powder pink was too blue and magenta didn't look right so I'm using 13 instead of 15 colors.  I was going after the ombre look where the colors kind of melt into the next one.  I'm happy with this!  I will do 4 times what I've done so far for a nice lap afghan, it's about 3 1/2 feet wide.  The last 3 blankets I did were twin bed size and too big for keeping my lap warm during the winter, this will be just right.

Ombré /ˈɒmbreɪ/ (literally "shaded" in French) is the gradual blending of one color hue to another, usually moving tints and shades from light to dark. It has become a popular feature for hair coloring, nail art, and even baking, in addition to its uses in home decorating and graphic design.

Here is my trolley cart all set up for my 2 blankets on the go and my finished Sweet Pea Trellis on the bottom.  The one in the middle is my Dune blanket for my Granddaughter Paige. All of these were designed by Lucy from Attic24 blog.

I taped the Dahlia blanket label that was in the bag of yarn from Wool Warehouse on the front then printed up the color sequence that Lucy did for her sample of the colors.  Lucy's 2 designs she did for this CAL are a random stripe and a color wash one. I always go rogue and choose my own arrangement, but this time I used her sample group, just removing two colors I felt didn't work with the ombre plan.

I spent many happy hours over the weekend cozied up with my dog on my lap, next to my husband in our easy chairs by the fire.  Winter bliss.

Speaking of Mocha.. she has this habit of hopping into my warm chair when I go off to do something or refill my water mug.  Then when I come back she doesn't want to move.  She rolls over and wants a belly rub.  THEN.. when I finally pick her up to move her she growls and snarls at me.  HMPH!  I'm trying to train her to get DOWN.. but it's slow going.

This is her curled up in her daddy's arms while he has his cheerios.  Yes, she gets a few of them.  Which is why she's curled up there.  She's "food motivated".  :-)

We made another good One Pot Meal that turned out very good.  You put uncooked rice in the bottom of the cast iron pot, add some chicken stock and a bit of water, put your chicken over that and lots of veggies, we put 2 slices of bacon on the top which adds a TON of flavor to this and some teriyaki sauce.  YUM!

I went to my DAR meeting this morning so I'm doing this blog post after getting back home.  Have a super week!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Teresa, your blankets are really beautiful! I love the ombre patterned look of them. Makes me want to start a blanket. Mocha knows a good seat when she sees it. One smart little pooch! Your dinner looks delicious. All the right ingredients right there. Have a happy week!

  3. Your blanket is looking great and will be perfect for some colorful comfort. Jingles does the same thing when I leave my usual spot on the love seat. She is very ornery if I try to make her move. Funny that Mocha does the same thing. I would think he would be very happy to have you back so he could cozy up with you.

  4. I love how you have your blankets in your trolley. I have my cart next to my chair. It hold all of my crafting "necessities" yet I can roll in into the other room when company comes. I have one at the lake trailer too. It's sitting empty, just waiting for spring. :-)
Mocha is very territorial isn't she? It's wonderful that she's so comfortable in her surroundings, but also good that you're teaching her to behave too. She's such a cutie.
It's very cold and snowy here. Dennis shoveled the driveway again before work this morning. I snuck out and did the sidewalk. He'll probably have to do it again in the morning. It's a typical Spokane January I guess, but I don't have to like it. :-)
Take care and hello to Dayle.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  5. Loving the ombre look of the blanket. I've just started the Moorland blanket (Attic 24) for my daughter who's expecting our first grandchild in June. I thought it'd be good for her to snuggle under during the night-feeds! I don't know about Mocha being food-motivated, I think there's a lot of love-motivation there too! xx

  6. Your blanket is looking good and love the colours. I have done 6 of Lucy's blanket but am having a break and just done some plain colour ones for babies that are coming. Saying that I have just finished one in 25 colours for my B I L who is having treatment for cancer.

  9. I am just like Mocha - food motivated :-)

I love the Dahlia blanket and I look forward to seeing your progress. I wonder if it is time for me to make another blanket?

    Have a wonderful week x

  10. Mocha is like Tyg. The minute I get up to do something, if Tyg is indoors, he will jump into my chair. Those blankets are so pretty Teresa and your one pot meals sound delicious!

  11. Your blankets are so beautiful. You really have a talent for it. Glad you decided to try the eco egg. I usually change out the pellets when they wear down to about 25% of their original size. I have one that has a lily fragrance but really my clothes just have a clean, fresh smell. Mocha is the cutest. She would be totally spoiled at my house.

  12. Your finishes are amazing Teresa. You have great plans. I hop from one project to another without any plan. Whatever suits my fancy. I may do that hat bandanna thing next. But, should i use cotton yarn or cool wool that may itch me?
Also our dear, dear beloved dog trainer Gee Always said a growl is a bite that's going to happen. MOCHA !! ! No growling . Goodness! That doesnt sound like you

  13. Lovely cosy pictures....you do look organised with your crochet in the trolley! I have a crafter's trolley too though mine is extremely full of patchwork and knitting bits and bobs at the moment and needs a good sort out!Naughty Mocha growling and snarling at you when you try to move her....she must think it's her chair really!!....our last dog used to growl at other people if they came near 'our' sofa, but our present dog Molly never does! Have a happy week dear Teresa and enjoy your cosy times XXX

  14. Delicious one pot meals are the best aren't they! Your dahlia blanket is looking great too and I love the stitch Lucy has used. I'm trying to decide on colours for a blanket for my bed but can't decide on pastels or something with a bit more oomph. xx Susan
