Salad Days and Ducks Win

My new healthier eating regimen begun yesterday.  I attended the Portland Women's Forum meeting and for lunch I used to have a club sandwich and salad, this time I shared a cobb salad with my sister Denise.  And.. I refused the chocolate sundae, too.  For dinner Dayle whipped up the salad below.  It was good.  But I have to admit that at 10 pm I texted my sister and said.. "I'm starving."  LOL!  I found a protein shake in the fridge which tided me over.. but found it tasted like chemicals so I won't do that again.  Onward and upward.

On NY day we watched the Oregon Ducks play in the Rose Bowl game.  It was a good game!  They went back and forth.. at first we were ahead.. then they were.. and in the end we won.. by ONE point!  OMGoodness!

These are photos I took of the game on our TV.. look at this sunset!

Here is the end of the game.. what a celebration!

How are your NY resolutions going?  :-)  Today and this weekend we will be un-decorating and hauling decs up to the attic.  Hopefully by Monday it will be more minimalist looking around the old farmhouse.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Good for you in trying to eat healthy. I was doing well until the kids came and then have been "off the wagon" so to speak ever since. I will be joining you very, very soon in watching what I eat. I buy the Premier Protein shakes at Costco. They don't seem to have the aftertaste that a lot of them do and they're very low in WW points.
Dennis will be home tomorrow night, very late. I took the outside lights down yesterday so everything is packed away for another year. I leave my snowmen out until around Valentines Day.
Wishing you and Dayle a great weekend Teresa. I must say, I'm ready to have Dennis home. This house is big and lonely by myself.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  2. I find that a piece of string cheese is a snack that will tide me over. Eating healthy makes me hungry, too! lol

  4. I enjoyed watching the Rose Parade [my favorite parade!] but could not watch the whole game on any of my channels. I did get to see all the touchdowns in a summary report which was fun to see. Bravo on your menu plan and plan to pack away your decorations. I still have most of my decorations out, but the greens on two of my wreaths are dry so I need to get busy dismantling them! ((hugs))

  5. Happy New Year, Teresa! I don't make resolutions, but I do understand the hungry thing. I've been on a low carb diet for over a year now and I must admit I do feel better. A piece of cheese helps me when I get hungry or a handful of nuts. We've taken down most of our inside Christmas decor and still have the outside wreaths, etc to do tomorrow, but it's supposed to rain.

  7. Wow! That pink and purple sky! I don't think your house could ever be considered minimalistic. :) Food is fuel so listen to your body and just continue to be diligent in your choices. All of those protein drinks, no matter what they taste like, are definitely filled with chemicals. If I ever get a jittery feeling from not having eaten in awhile, I'll grab a handful of nuts and a couple of dates. That's actually one of my favorite snacks along with some green tea. Have a good weekend.

  9. Have you looked into the bone broth diet? I have researched it a bit for its anti-inflammatory benefits. You drink bone broth in the morning and eat sensibly the rest of the day. It is so easy and very beneficial. I think you should make your own shakes, they are so yummy. Good luck Teresa.

  10. Wow, what a sunset. And how beautiful with the mountains in the background. Your salad looks amazing, well done Dayle. And well done you for healthy eating. I am aiming for something similar, and I know what you mean about being hungry in the evening. I am wishing you and yours a very happy 2020. CJ xx

  12. Our day was quiet (as we like it) (also New Year's Eve was quiet). I've never been one for making resolutions, so none for me. It's back to work, and that's ok. Good to be back to routines.
