Hibiscus and Garden Images

My red hibiscus bloomed!  The plant is kind of naughty.  I have cared for and enjoyed many blooms over the years and so I got a big huge pot for it so it could enjoy more "real estate".  Once I potted it I severely pruned it to give it a new lease on life.  Well.. it did grow.. and grow.. but refused to grace me with the blooms I so love.  Hmph.  Ungrateful tree!  But yesterday was the day.  It is somewhat out of the doghouse, but I don't see many more buds.  :-)

Have you ever kept a hibiscus in the house or can you have them in your garden?

I did a side shot so you can see the amazing pistil of the flower.

The old apple tree is covered with apple of unknown variety.

The Canna Lily in the pond bloomed.  I think this is a "Tropicana".

Most of the Hydrangea blooms are dried up but I noticed two newer flowers so I snapped this cute little one.. I love the blue and purple of the petals.

Our Douglas Fir, Oregon's State Tree, is covered with fir cones.

A high branch.

Our community has a few Facebook group pages - one is called "Corbett Unstuff" - this beautiful cheese board/tray was listed yesterday for $10.  I couldn't pass it up.  I will use this for our next dinner or meal under the gazebo.  I will also use it as a hot pad on the table.

The beautiful handles are silver-plated.

Mocha looking very cute.. *snap*

We got a bag of avocados from Costco so more yummy lunches on toasted English muffins.. I mash the avocado and add a tablespoon of mayonnaise, salt and pepper, a sprinkle of Nunu's Cajun seasoning and a new thing...

My daughter's SIL in Ohio suggested this for the top so I got some and oh my goodness.. the garlic and onion really put it over the top.  You might want to pick some of this up.  I got it on Amazon.  :-)  It has
White Sesame Seed, Sea Salt Flakes, Seed, Minced Onion, Minced Garlic, Black Sesame Seed, Poppy Seed in it.
Well.. this it for me.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend, rest if you need it, adventure if that is what you crave.  There is nothing on our docket.  Thank goodness we're okay with that.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. That looks much like the "Nothing but the bagel" seasoning that I buy at Trader Joe's. It's in the other trailer or I would compare ingredients. We're out in the mountains northeast of Spokane camping in our little trailer. We've been here for two night and are going home tomorrow. We just needed to escape life for a few days and recoup. It's great for social distancing. Hardly anyone here at all and it's gorgeous and quiet. We'll probably be making another whirlwind trip to Omaha very soon, Karen isn't expected to make it through the weekend. Life is hard these days and we needed to escape for just a couple of days.
    Hugs to you and Dayle.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  5. Your hibiscus is so vibrant. I have one tree with gorgeous flowers and three others with a ruffled petal that are more of a soft orange color. I am a bit jealous of your vibrant red. Mocha is adorable. I eat avocado toast many times a week, just like yours minus the spice. Stay safe Teresa, sending you and Dayle lots of love.

  7. Lovely red hibiscus blossoms, Teresa! I had a couple for a 15 years that stopped blooming and had to bring them into our Fl room for winter. Two years ago they were added to the compost pile. The bagel spice mixture sounds really good. I may have to order some. Enjoy a relaxing weekend. We're doing the same.

  10. That one glorious red hibiscus blossom was worth the wait! Wow. I don't grow hibiscus here in Wisconsin, but when I was a child in SoCal we had them in the back yard, along with oleander and bougainvillea. Flowers for a temperate climate. :)

What a gorgeous cheese board, and that Mocha sure is photogenic. I loved seeing what's blooming and fruiting in your yard, Teresa.

  11. Gorgeous cheese board Teresa - so lovely. I use that "Everything But the Bagel" seasoning all the time - it is great sprinkled on veggies that you then roast in the oven. Yum! Your Hibiscus is gorgeous! Our red one has not yet bloomed this year. Love your picture of the pine cones against the blue, blue sky!

  12. Such a beautiful hibiscus flower! This plant wouldn't do well here in Glasgow but I always admire it in my godmother's back garden in Turkey. The cheese board is almost too elegant to put cheese on. I like whimsical but useful items like this board very much. Have a wonderful week x

  13. My daughter in law loves everything bagel seasoning. She said that she sliced up one of the cucumbers we gave her and sprinkled the seasoning on them and it was delicious! The cheese board is beautiful... what a great bargain!
