Custard Cups

I forgot to show you a couple new jadeite items I recently acquired.  McKee Philbe custard cups.  McKee is the maker and Philbe is the floral embossed design.

They both glow beautifully under a black light.

This is the McKee mark on the bottom.  I found an inexpensive custard cup rack which I'll show you when it arrives.  You put your cups in it and put in a pan of water and fill with your custard mixture and bake in the oven.

I walked by the dining room table yesterday and the sun was illuminating my compote and it was glowing so pretty I had to take a photo.  I got the candle at World Market the other day and have been burning it as soon as it gets dark in the afternoon.

As we put our Christmas decorations away I use the opportunity to make a fresh display.  I decided to put some on the TV cabinet to spread the minty green around the house.  :-)  We got all the tree ornaments removed and safely stowed in my compartmented box, so the decks are almost clear.

A different perspective.. we always enter the house by the back door off the deck, so we come in to the dining room, the tiny kitchen on the left, the family room on the right, the living room straight ahead when you enter.

Green has taken over the china cabinet.  :-D

I thought it was time for Dayle and Mocha to say hello.  :-)

I'd been wanting to check out "The Handmaid's Tale" for a long time but it was never showing on a channel we had, so finally we subscribed to Hulu and gave it a try.. oh my goodness.. it's quite the cautionary tale.  We watch a couple episodes each evening.  Have you read the book or watched the series?  What do you think?

I'm looking forward to Lucy at Attic24's Crochet-a-long (CAL) for her Meadow blanket.  At least there will be something different for you to read.. lol!  I hope the new year is treating you well.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  3. Lots of green. You're really enjoying your Jadeite and it's really a nice way to brighten things up isn't it?
Dayle and Mocha look as if they're doing well. We just had word that Brad's uncle is in the ICU with COVID. We would appreciate it if you would please keep him in your prayers. I'm so ready for this to be over with. Stay home my friend and stay safe.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  6. Hi, Teresa, Dayle and Mocha!!! It is interesting seeing how various forms of light interact with the Jadeite...I think the Sunday sunshine illuminating it is my favorite effect of the photos you shared. [I'm so glad I made it out into the sunshine yesterday for a walk around Eagle Estates East since today we got so much rain!] Just read now about the Handmaid's Tale in Wikipedia because I wasn't familiar with it and its challenging themes. I'm looking forward to seeing your CAL Meadow blanket take shape. ((hugs))

  9. The jadeite is really so very pretty. And I love your yellow walls. I've heard of the Handmaid's Tale but pretty sure it's not my kind of show. A friend who moved to Germany gave me three containers of craft supplies and there's a bunch of yarn that I need to find the right project for. Will check out the Meadow CAL. Have a good day.

  10. That's a lot jadeite you have and it looks nice. I had a friend show me a photo of a hoosier at Mercantile store in Aurora and there was a few jadeites sitting on that as well. I thought of you. I heard they are retiring and closing the store. I hope to go there sometime soon with a friend who lives out of Aurora. I wouldn't mind having a hoosier even though it's less price than normal, I can't afford one right now. No work yet for me. So I have to be careful what we buy. Your house always looks so nice!! I am working on mine to get much better this month. Hugs and blessings, to you and Dayle and Mocha!! X------X

  15. Your collection is so pretty. You are all set for St. Patrick's Day decoration! I have watched the Handmaid's Tale in its entirety and it is scary. In the last four years we have witnessed how easily people can be persuaded to do despicable acts. Good to see Dayle and Mocha!
