Happy Days Are Here Again

Hello my dear readers!  Thank you for dropping in for a visit.  The sun is shining, my heart is happy, the future looks bright and all is well in the world.  :-)  I finished 2 more rows of color on my Meadow blanket that I'm doing with Lucy at Attic24 blog.  3 more colors before I have used all 15 colors, then I will repeat the pattern.  I must say I'm enjoying the color play in this.  Lucy designed 2 colorways, random stripe and a "color story" which has the colors of looking at the meadow with more greens at the bottom and going to blues at the top.  She also shows us a "color sample" where she melds the colors which is my choice, I'm on "team color sample repeat".  The colors I will do over the weekend are Cloud Blue, Lavender and Wisteria.  :-)

Dayle got his Covid vaccine yesterday at the Veterans Administration facility in Vancouver, Washington.  I am happy he got it but I have to wait until February 28th.  Wah.  On his way home he stopped at the "Candy Basket" and picked up a few goodies.  They make their own chocolate in a factory there.  :-)

He also brought me some chocolate covered peanuts.  Peanuts are healthy, right?  :-)  I put them in one of my jadeite refrigerator containers.

These are yummy.

Dayle made a family favorite recipe - it's called "Cocktail Meatballs" but we call them "Sweet & Sour Meatballs".  We serve them over rice and put crushed pineapple on top.  Mmmmm.

Cocktail Meatballs

1 lb ground beef
2 TBS bread crumbs
1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 C chopped green pepper
1/2 C chopped onion
2 TBS butter
1 can tomato soup
2 TBS brown sugar
4 tsp Worcestershire
1 TBS mustard
1 TBS vinegar
Optional - serve with crushed pineapple on top over rice

Mix ground beef, crumbs, egg and salt.  Make about 50 small meatballs, brown in frying pan or under broiler, turning to brown on all sides.  Saute pepper and onion in butter until tender, stir in rest of ingredients.  Put meatballs in shallow baking pan, cover with sauce.  Bake 20 minutes at 350°.

Introducing my newest jadeite plate, it's a Fire King "Sheaves of Wheat" design which is as rare as hen's teeth to find.  If you're an antique shopper and ever see one of these, please let me know!  They also have bowls, tea cups and saucers in this design.  My grandparents were wheat farmers in Oklahoma so this speaks to me.

My newest "babies".

This is a Fire King Restaurant Ware 5 compartment grill plate.  This is good for people who like to keep their food from touching.. LOL!

And these fun fired on green salt and peppers.

Chef Dayle prepared baked pork chops using Shake N Bake, fried potatoes with onions and buttered corn for dinner.  Mmm.

l am going to work on getting my Valentine tablecloth on this weekend.  I look forward to getting out my cute little heart things.  Now is a perfect time for love and hearts, don't you think?

((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  4. Teresa,
Did you get to finish the crochet shawl project you started a while ago? I wanted to see it after completion.

  5. How lucky you are to have a man that likes to cook!!! Both my sons are great cooks but The Mister can't even open a can of soup.
You've made a lot of progress on your blanket. I think it took me almost a year to finish the one I did. The CAL was long over before I crossed the finish line. Araignee

  10. Dayle is definitely a keeper. He goes and gets a jab and then buys YOU things! lol. Seriously, how is he feeling? Any side effects? Dennis is approved to get a vaccine because of his age and he is an essential worker but there is no place to get it. My cardiologist says I'm high risk so I need the vaccine, but the state website says I don't have the "right" heart conditions. Apparently a pacemaker and my other heart issues aren't enough! So I'll wait awhile I guess.
Hopefully we can find somewhere to get it for Dennis soon.
The meatballs and pork chop dinner look delicious. I don't like my food to touch so next time I eat at your house I'll need to use one of those new plates! :-)
Take care and you two have a wonderful weekend. Oh, and I love your blanket. I want to try that stitch soon.
    Kisses to Mocha from me.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  11. Definitely time for love and hearts. I'm so glad that Dayle has had the vaccination, that's really good news. The chocolate covered peanuts look absolutely delicious, as does all of Dayle's cooking - you are a lucky woman! I love the new jadeite wheat plate, and how interesting that your grandparents were wheat farmers. I'd love to hear more about their lives if you cared to share. Hope you have a lovely weekend. CJ xx

  12. Good to hear Dayle got his first vaccine dose. It will be months before I get an appointment (but may be vaccinated already, I am a trial participant). I love meatballs, quite fancy some for my dinner. I am not so keen on sweet and sour dishes but never had sweet and sour meatballs, maybe I should try! We have tofu Katsu curry tonight, looking forward to that. Have a lovely weekend xx

  13. Hi! So glad you have a happy heart, Teresa❤️ I just caught up on your posts I missed, and enjoyed learning more about the history of your antique cabinet and how you are bringing it back to life! And I admire how your beautiful blanket is growing. Wonderful to hear Dayle got his vaccine and you are scheduled to get yours. Lis got her second shot and is doing well. Thanks for sharing your yummy looking recipes. I have a pot of chicken vegetable soup on the back burner. It was 28degrees here this morning. I hung a heart I made from your pattern on my Christmas tree, but need to get it out again...its not too soon for me to celebrate❤️🤗😘

  15. Glad Dayle got his vaccination. At least February isn’t too long for you to wait. Not sure when mine will be. Love the jadeite sectioned plate. My husband would love that lol! Well done on the blanket; it’s looking good. Have a lovely week. B x

  16. You are certainly finding a lot of lovely jadeite. I actually always thought it was mostly just decorative pieces but you have proved otherwise. Chocolate is always a good idea, though I mostly go for dark chocolate now. Saw on the news yesterday that all the Godiva stores in the states will be closing down. A friend in Lebanon had the virus for 17 days and finally tested negative. She said she is feeling about 60% recovered. Seems a lot of places are short on supplies so hopefully they get that figured out for the ones who are keen to be vaccinated. Take care of yourself. Have fun crocheting away. :)
