Happy New Year - 2021

Here is to 2021 - I hope it's a better year for us - one and all!  We spent the day yesterday packing up Christmas decorations, we're pacing ourselves, there is a lot to do.  :-)  One thing I do is to "banish the red".. I put out soothing natural colors as an antidote to the bright red and green of the holidays.

I put my new jadeite compote and candleholders in pride of place, the center of the dining room table.

I'd ordered a box of natural beeswax sheets and rolled up 6 of them for the candleholders on the table.

Have you ever smelled beeswax sheets?  They smell divine.

All set to replace the red candles on the table.  (Photo at top)

My advent sentiments are so fun to read.

I have a jadeite bucket list.  :-)  This is called a trinket box although I think it was used a lot as a cigarette box back in the day.  It has been adopted by me.  It will be on my chair-side piano stool where I keep my morning coffee and my mug of ice water the rest of the day.

I love roses and I named our place "Rose Hollow Farm" when we bought it in 1984.  So, I kind of had to get this, right?

A great place to keep a small bottle of Aleve.  I found this neat vintage doily at a barn flea market in Amish country in Berlin, Ohio when my daughter Amy took me there for a visit.  Click HERE to see the wonderful Amish photos I captured.

On New Years Eve.  Dayle prepared a FABulous broiled filet mignon, baked potato and asparagus dinner for us to ring in the new year.  It was deeeee-LISH-ous!

The house smells amazing as Dayle has a pork roast in the oven that was brushed with olive oil, minced garlic, salt and pepper.  He'll serve it with fried potatoes with onions and glazed carrots.  :-)  A great way to begin 2021!

And that brings us to this moment, I have a long-standing resolution to eat healthier and move more and be be a good person and a positive influence to those around me and that includes you, my readers, my far-flung friends I've made here in my blog space.  We've been trying to be safe and make it to the other side of this virus and this whole year.  I hope we can stay safe until we can get a vaccine.  I hope the same for you.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. Happy New Year Teresa! We had an exciting New Years Eve. Dennis picked up a pizza on his way home from work and he was in bed by 9:00. Of course he was at work at 5:30 am so I don't blame him. I stayed up until 11:00 and we both woke up when the fireworks began, just long enough to say "Happy New Year" and go back to sleep. Ha! Real party animals!
Right now I'm sitting in his office waiting for him to finish up some emergency or other. I figured I may as well ride in with him for a change of scenery and we're the only people here so it should be safe.
I can't wait for the vaccine. Life can begin anew!
You're jadeite is beautiful, especially the little box. I would use it next to my knitting chair for progress keepers, stitch markers, etc. The new candles are really pretty too.
Take care and have a wonderful New Years afternoon. I'm making beef & bean burritos for dinner at Dennis's request. Super easy.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  6. I like the doily that has flowers around it. I remember seeing something like that years ago. Maybe one that my mom had!! It's been raining most of the day today. We stayed up late but it was good. I have a few things going on at home. No out and about til Sunday. Have a blessed and happy 2021 to you and Dayle!!!!

  8. I've never even seen beeswax sheets before, but can imagine they do smell pretty good. I put all my decorations away on the last day of December so that we could start fresh for the new year. This month I think I'll make some snowman, snowflake themed projects. Also concentrate on gratitude. So happy that January 20th isn't far off. Wishes for a healthy, happy new year. Take care.

  11. I had to banish the red also. I didn't put up my tree or really decorate until Christmas Eve this year and that one week until New Year's was just enough. I think I will make it a yearly tradition from now on. I really do want to just have a Merry LITTLE Christmas from now on. Even in good years it stresses me out.
    Happy New Year!

  19. Your home is so fun to look into Teresa! And those filets...ugh. They look wonderful. Hoping for a very very healthy new year for you and Dayle. And Mocha! I think you are very positive. I thank you for helping me make some decisions last year about volunteering at a place I loved. The stable is having students . It saddens me to know that is over in our lives. But, I can find another volunteer job with meaning. Who knows what it will be?
