Cabinets Great and Small

Greetings dear readers!  Yesterday I took all the things out of my grandparents Hoosier cabinet and put them in the bottom of my old blue cabinet where they'll be out of the way.  Then I set out to find homes for my new jadeite collection spread all over our dining room table.  I put all the Jeanette glowing pieces in the kitchen queen, all things you'd use for baking and cooking.  The basket on the top I found in my grandparents chicken house, too.  This cabinet I found in my grandparents abandoned farmhouse and rescued it and hauled it all the way from Oklahoma to Oregon.

This blue cabinet was in the chicken house.  I put the Fire King jadeite items there.  I will organize it better soon.  For now I just wanted to get them off the dining room table.  :-)

I am happy to have these two cabinets side by side.  They are by the front door in our entryway.

I used my little blacklight flashlight to show how these glow.

And now let's downsize to my dollhouse miniature cabinet.  I ordered some mini jadeite mugs, the D and C handle ones plus the Jane Ray cup and saucer.  :-)

I've been enjoying having this little piece by my easy chair.

The USFS staff took this photo of the snow at Multnomah Falls, isn't this pretty?

The news of my son is that he is doing well!  He is so happy to be home and Kristi is taking excellent care of him.  He's walking a lot around the house and she took him to the doctor yesterday to get started on how to best care for him so he can get back to health.

I have something else to share with you.. on Friday.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. All that jadeite was meant to be yours. You have the perfect cabinets to display your collection. I especially love the Hoosier cabinet with it. And it is wonderful that these pieces have all found a home where they will be loved, cared for but most of all enjoyed so much.

Wonderful that your son is coming along so well. Spring will be much sweeter to you all with him on the road to recovery.

  6. Oooh, now I'm curious as to what you're going to share with us. :-) I'm so looking forward to having my Hoosier cabinet in our house. Mandy says there is a wall in the kitchen it should fit on. Dare I say I dislike the kitchen cabinets, but, I guess you can't have everything. I always wanted a vintagy kitchen and as this will most likely be my last one, I don't think I'm going to get it.
Love how all of your jadeite looks in all three cabinets, even the tiny one. It's all so pretty. What did you do with all of your other dish collections?
And finally, it's so good to hear that Travis is doing so well. Oh my, I prayed so hard for that boy. I'm so, so glad to hear good news. I know Kristi will take such good care of him too. What a gem she is.
Wishing you, Dayle and little Mocha a lovely evening my dear friend. Snow is forecast here again tonight but it's supposed to be 41 tomorrow so hopefully it will all melt. :-)
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

  9. I like the hoosier you have. Glad you were able to bring them home for yourself to use. Nice Jadeite, even when it gets lit!!! I just started cooking my chicken thighs for dinner as I was working on my blog post too long...it smells delicious, cooking in my Lodge cast iron pan. A nice day here with blue skies and warmth!!! Finally! I am glad your son is doing better! My nephew made it through his hip surgery on Tues. At home now but a bit in pain. Hugs and blessings!!!

And: Wow! The snow at Multnomah Falls looks magical. Is there any season when it isn't stunning there? I sure would love to go back, again, any time of the year.

  14. Dear Teresa, so happy for Travis he is doing better!! That will give you and your family rest and trust! The cabinets filled with jadeite are so beautiful! And inspiring! I am looking around the house if I do have some of it. So far I found a bracelet and necklace, that is all. :-) I can't wait untill we all can go to carbootsales and vintage markets, wich we use to have a lot in springtime ! But it looks like, due to corona, we will skip another year. Well, as long as we can kill the virus it is a very small price to pay. In the mean time I am helping schools when one of their teachers got ill or pregnant, wich keep me busy! I do have some daffodills in the garden, and the weather is lovely round here! Lots of love, Janneke.

  16. I love that you have your grandparents' cabinets and are filling them with such lovely collections. And I absolutely adore that sweet little cabinet with its tiny treasures. My Colorado boy had a snow day today as they had snow all night long. Glad to hear your son is home and healing. Take care.
