It snowed early this morning. I was awake for a bit early and there was no snow, then I woke up at 7:47 (don't you love how digital clocks changed how we view time?) and the skylights were covered with a blanket of snow. I love having skylights over the bed - you can tell the minute your eyes open what the weather is like. :-) I finished (due to losing my turquoise skein of Stylecraft yarn) my guest chair blanket (it's in my view from my chair so I'm bringing color into our life.. :-) -- and so I finally began my long planned round granny pillow cover. It will live in front of the colorful ripple.
I have about 4 or 5 more rows to go on THIS side. I think I'll make a totally different color pattern on the other side.
Can you say.. COLORFUL?
Brightening up our world. Below is the dining room -- I love when it snows and the light reflects off the snow and it's so nice and bright in the house.
The place looks so different with the big maple down -- there's not much snow, but it's pretty. There are downed limbs from the wind we've had recently. We had a new housekeeper come for a few hours yesterday - just to clean the bathrooms and do a bit of dusting. She's a young lady I've known since she was born. She did a great job and the best part of having someone come in to help is it gets us going on some projects we've wanted to do. There were some plants in my garden window that needed pruned, re-potted and cleaned up. Hubby handed them all out to me to work on and he cleaned the garden window up and cleaned the leaded glass window above the sink. The bromeliad is from my daughter's wedding 12 years ago. Each year it sends up a new plantlet and the old ones die and I have to cut off the dead plants. I love how a plant becomes a part of the family, like the Christmas Cactus I rescued from my mother's room right before we lost her a year and a half ago. It's my connection to her that is alive - the one on the far right.
Dayle took this photo of the snow falling on his way to get The Oregonian newspaper and walk the dog.
My daughter is going to Skype with us in 20 minutes on my iPad - it will be our first time. I sure do miss the girls. I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Your window garden looks lovely with your much loved plants...that is why they do so well it is all the TLC. I have never used Skype...I don't quite understand it...I hope you have a lovely call. Keep going with the crochet it looks like you need all the warm cushions and blankets that you can create. :)
ReplyDeleteYour house is beautiful I love everything! Take care in the snow, we've not really had any this winter just keep getting Frost but it has been cold : )
ReplyDeleteLovely photos...I love the beautiful colors of yarn you have usted to make the pillow. It's lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings always
We had snow overnight too and more is expected! It is so pretty. I love the colors on the granny pillow cover - so cheerful!

Hello Teresa - firstly I just wanted to say that I do feel for you re your granddaughters, as you know mine live close by and I see then often and could not bear the thought of not seeing them. My bgrandsons live further away- nowhere near the distance between you and you gd'S but it's not round the corner and here in England we judge distances differently as we're not very big anyway lol.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful - snow - a lot of folk here don't want any but I would like a bit. It's so pretty when it first falls and you can just settle down at home all cosy and warm and you don't seem to feel you need to get on with much - just craft. You said you'd had some high winds well we've had those so may be we get the snow next. Hope so. What do you call the semicircle glass thingy hanging at top of your window it's gorgeous. Anne x
OH, the snow looks wonderful! I fear we will not see one flake this year. It was sunny and 65 degrees today. Supposed to be 70+ tomorrow! Glad you got to see the GDs today on Skype. I know you miss them so much.
ReplyDeleteTeresa, you must be so happy to look out your window at the beauty of winter. I love the pictures of the snow, and of course I always love to see your cozy home. Hope skype went well, I have yet to try it myself.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you,
Meredith
As always, I am envious of your green thumb. One of these days I'll be brave enough to try to keep plants healthy in my home. And I love the leaded glass pane over them all! It is very pretty indeed. Enjoy your skype time!

I hope you have a good skype visit. I love a bit of hibernating in winter. Other times of the year are so busy for us.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos!!!
ReplyDeleteYour round cushion is gorgeous! Perfect to live in front of your colourful ripple! :-) I hope you had a lovely Skype chat with your girls! xxxx
ReplyDeleteWe had snow too Teresa--hoping for more already. Love skylights-have always wanted them but could not talk my DH into some. Hope your Skype chat was fun--:)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Aimee
PS: Your leaded glass hanging is absolutely beautiful--what great taste you have!
How are you teresa? Getting use to being without the girls? I think it would be so hard to get used to.. My mom never stopped missing my kids. She is so happy to live near us again! *big hug for you!
ReplyDeleteSnow is still magical to me (although a lot of it causes chaos here in the UK). How pretty everything looks and great to see the colour in your crochet projects. Keep warm Teresa,
ReplyDeleteJane x
I love the pillow and the blanket!! So bright and happy!!
ReplyDeleteI love the your snow. We haven't gotten anything yet. It's actually supposed to get up to 60 degrees this weekend. Yikes, that's not winter weather?! The blanket and pillow look so cheerful. That will be such a cozy spot.
ReplyDeleteOur snow is melting but I got some good pictures this weekend and I plan on posting some soon. Love the cushion it is so bright and cheery.
ReplyDeleteYour cushion and blanket are wonderful, love the gorgeous colours. It's really cold and frosty here but no snow. Hope you had a good Skype chat with the girls ((hugs)) Joanna xx
ReplyDeleteEven a little snow is rather lovely, isn't it. It was snowing not sticking in Sandy today when I went to my first lap swim in many years. I made 10 leisurely laps. Your ripple and pillow are so cheery! I want to try making some...I've made 4 of your hearts so far! Blessings to you and yours <3
ReplyDeleteThat my friend is what we here call a smidgen of snow or a little dusting. Either way, it's a beautiful way to start your day.
ReplyDeleteNow about that pillow, it's totally fabulous with you ripple. I love the grannie circle. I did a square one a while back and did the opposite colors on the other side. Sort of like from out to in, and then from in to out, does that make sense. It does make the other side look totally different and very cool.
Finally settling in back home. Had an awful time with checking blogs on the laptop, so I'm off as I have a lot of catch up to do.
Love your bright beautiful crochet colours and the ripple pattern and granny circle too, Teresa. And I was DeLiGhTeD to see that picture of your red barn in the snow!! Enjoy your skypeing with your little grandgirlies.

I have a new laptop so skypeing is a wonderful thing. To talk to my sis in Minnesota - where they have snow - and see her boys (nostrils). We collaborated on a doll bedding project for our great-niece this Christmas via Skype. So nice to be able to see each other's fabric choices.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, in canbyland, we did not get to enjoy the snow other than watching it fall for five minutes off and on.
I love your plant window with the half-circle of beveled glass decorating it.
This last photo of the red barn in the snow is soooooo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnd ohhhh, the leaded glass window...how wonderful is THAT? My hubby loves bromeliads! I haven't tried to grow any here in VA, but we used to have them outside in our garden in So. California when we lived there! As always, love reading your posts! Hugs, Annette
