We've had our chicken house for 3 years. We've had it in 3 locations. I hope this one is the best. We loved our chickens and loved the wonderful fresh eggs. But tragedy struck in January when coyotes made their way into the hen house and took all 3 of our dear hens. :-( So, we're starting over and moving the hen house to a more accessible spot and will be making all sorts of security improvements. Dayle used the tractor and some tie down straps to move it all by his self, what a guy! He then has spent a few days painting it. Isn't it pretty? While I was swimming yesterday I was thinking of how we could move our little galvanized stock tank to the side of it and plant it with flowers - and move the little windmill there too.. and how cute it would look with a rooster weathervane on top. :-) We've found a place not far from here that sells young hens.. but first things first..
One of our Stargazer lilies is in bloom! And my wonderful "4th of July" rose is still blooming away for us! Doesn't it look like fireworks in the sky?
Loooooooooove it!
This is a quick post as hubby and I are both meeting my blog friend Gracie for lunch and then we're all three going to my favorite Mac store to look at the new MacBook laptops. Gracie needs a new computer and I want to show them to her and I've got my eye on the new Retina display MacBook Pro.. and I want to see it with my own retinas. :-) More about that later... ciao for now!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
What a hard working Hb you have Teresa, the chicken run is looking fab. What lucky chickens they will be ;0) Enjoy your afternoon, it's evening here already ;0)

ReplyDeleteTHOSE ROSES!!!! Beautiful!
The chicken house looks great! Build a good strong fence to keep those coyotes out because I live vicariously through those that get to have chickens.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your new 'ladies'. Those flowers are so pretty. Talk to you soon. XOXO
ReplyDeleteGreat color on the new hen house. I swear you must be the only place in the country right now getting rain. I so enjoy seeing all you flowers. My garden leaves a lot to be desired this summer. Glad to have popped by. Doing much better on some of the health stuff I have been working on. Miss blogging but knew a break was in order to refocus. I will be back as you know when I'm ready. In the mean time, I still am enjoying popping by when I have a sec.

I love, love, LOVE the chicken house! I want one! Love all your ideas for decorating for the hens! They'll be sittin' pretty! And your rose! Oh that rose! It's amazing! I would love to see that in person!!!! I just can't get roses to perform here in Virginia. If the humidity doesn't finish them off, the mid-summer invasion of Japanese Beetles takes care of them! =( I never appreciated my prolific bushes in California...I took them for granted. The Mac store, eh? Can't wait to hear more about that little adventure! I'm on my way to the camera store today to look at remote shutter releases. I went to a meeting of the local camera club last week and the speaker was critiquing various member contributions. Almost every one of them was a bit blurry and he was hard on everyone about taking photos that aren't crisply in focus. He also encouraged everyone to quit using the auto settings on the camera and to venture into learning how to shoot on "manual". I've done a whole lot of studying on that subject this week and am proud to say that I'm now shooting manual. But I still see a little blur in some of my shots...my hands/arms shake if I'm taking numerous photos in a row. A tripod will help that...but so will a remote shutter release. Have a good day...and I'm glad you're my friend too! Hugs, Annette
