Enjoying the Summer Garden

We have had a nice easy going weekend.. I wandered around the garden last evening and saw that my purple Astilbe is starting to fluff out.  I adore this plant.. another hardy "girl" that comes back each year, better than the last.  So far hubby hasn't pulled it up when weeding. :-)
They look fluffy until you look real close and see individual florets.  Such a pretty color!
One of the geraniums Dayle wintered over in the basement -- it's a unique color.
He also wintered over two begonias and this one is finally in bloom, isn't it just amazing?
My sister Denise texted me when she was shopping and showed me a photo of the coolest hydrangea... a Shooting Star variety.  I'd been looking for a white hydrangea so I asked her to grab one for me.  Isn't this pretty?  I'm going to plant it behind my normal hydrangea.
Look close at the star.. doesn't it look like a fake white poinsettia?
There are new buds on the 4th of July rose - here is one of the 2 that are in bloom.  I'll never get tired of this rose which looks like fireworks exploding in the sky.
Now there are 3 flowers on the hydrangea.. the colors of lavender, creamy white and lime green inspire me to use them in a crochet project.
Filtered sunshine over the creek, falls and pond.
Fuchsia and garden statue..
Our $3.50 koi are getting really big.. don't tell the Blue Herons.
I saw a bunch of movement out in the creek yesterday, which is why I grabbed my camera to see if I could get a shot of a huge flock of birds that were bathing in the water.
As calm as the weekend was, this day has begun with a lot to accomplish.  I head off soon to take Buddy to the groomer, then on to my swim workout for an hour.  Then hopefully pick up the dog on my way home, then I'm off to lead a board meeting of the Friends of Multnomah Falls.  Tomorrow.. my daughter and two granddaughters arrive near midnight.  Woohoo!  Enjoy your summer week!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  6. Your flowers are so lovely. The Astilbe, I'm glad you showed that, I have a pink one and couldn't remember it's name. In fact my daughter asked me just the other day what the plant was called and I told her I had no clue. You are right, it does come back every year, when someone isn't trying to pull it up. I bet you are getting excited to see your granddaughters. Hope they have a safe trip and many happy days to visit you.

  24. I've never seen that kind of hydrangea, Teresa. How neat! My hydrangeas are sagging because of this terrible heat. I'm rather alarmed. I think I have to go out early tomorrow morning and give them a good soaking.
