Birthday at the Beach

My honey and I are at the beach for the week to celebrate my.. ::gulp::.. 65th birthday!  We don't expect fair weather this time of year and when we pulled into our space in front of this beautiful Pacific ocean view - we got hit by a squall while Dayle was outside hooking everything up.  We spent a night with the wind bouncing us around and the rain pelting us like crazy.  Then yesterday we awoke to much nicer weather!

We mostly spent Wednesday relaxing and I made a bowl of potato salad for us to have with our Easter ham leftovers.  Then we went out later in the afternoon and found ourselves at a place I'd always wanted to try - Bay House.  It was beautiful inside and we were seated in a comfortable booth with the view out over Siletz Bay.

We both had a salad of mixed lettuce, pear, bleu cheese, toasted hazelnuts and raspberry vinaigrette.  Isn't it pretty?  The bread that came with it was a crusty whole grain with herbed butter.

Out in the bay there was a sand bar covered with sea gulls.  :-)

Since we'd eaten a light dinner.. well.. we had dessert!  Dayle had a bread pudding with house made vanilla ice cream  I had local honey and vanilla Crème Brûlée.

When we got back to our cozy little nest the ocean was looking wild and beautiful.

Yesterday it was a beautiful sunny day!

We headed out in the early afternoon to find a place for lunch and I did some online research and decided to try the place below.  Two thumbs up from us both!

The clam chowder was the best I've had so far.. savory and lots of potatoes and clams.  We'll be going back here!

I had fish and chips and they also were the best I've had in forever.  Panko crust on halibut and house made chips.  YUM!

They had beautiful roses on the tables there and they actually had a beautiful scent!

This is the view of the ocean out of the window in the bedroom of our trailer.

The obligatory photo of Buddy on the sofa.  :-)

The many moods of the ocean.

Our DIL Kristi is on her way down with our two littlest grandsons and my friend Shirley and her husband John are arriving soon, too.  So, we'll be celebrating with them today.  Thanks for visiting and I hope I didn't overdo the ocean photos! LOL!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  11. Many Happy Returns, hope you had a wonderful birthday. Love the photos of the sea, what a view!

The food pics look truly scrummy, btw, is a chowder something like a thick, creamy stew - we don't have it here in the UK.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend with your guests, and that the weather is kind enough for you to go beach-combing.

  17. This Saylor never tires of seeing the sea!!! I am so glad you are having a Happy Birthday celebration, Teresa !!! I checked on my last comment and see that my little pictures did not come through but I sent you a birthday cake, hearts, flowers, a sailboat, a caravan , and smiles :) I swam for an hour today and mostly had the pool to myself and definitely missed you, even though I am glad you are having a good time with Dayle and Buddy. I think the pool will be closed from the 28th-2nd but will have to call to confirm. Birthday blessings to you :) xx

  24. It looks like you are having a wonderful time. Where is Ocean Bleu? We'll have to try that next time we make it to the coast-the clam chowder looks delicious. Dennis just said he's kicking himself for selling our little camper. The one we have at the lake is pretty big to pull, but our little one would have been perfect for the coast. He loves the view out your bedroom window. The ocean calls to both of us. Happy Birthday again late.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
