Beautiful Lake Tahoe

Thursday we left Corning, CA and headed south on I-5 to Sacramento, took a left and headed up and up and up.. when we hit the 2 lane windy mountain road the lightning, thunder and heavy rain began.  Quite a journey to Lake Tahoe!  But we got here, found our hotel and checked in.  I was charmed by the view out of our room!

Our cute little room.

There is a restaurant on the pier where we had lunch.  We walked out on the pier afterwards.  Not much sun.

Many boats are moored out by the pier.

The pier.

When I walked out on the beach, I snapped a shot of the big casinos on the Nevada side of the lake.  Harrahs, Hard Rock, a few others.

Looking back at our hotel from the pier, our room is on the right and the left side of that part.

Every time you look at the lake it looks different.  :-)

After lunch we did some sight-seeing.. we stopped at a really nice viewpoint at Emerald Bay... we were greeting by some cute, well-fed chipmunks.

Do you have chipmunks where you live?  The live in the mountains here.

Looking down at the crystal clear water.

There is only ONE island in Lake Tahoe!

Isn't it neat?

Looking out across the large expanse of lake.

A woman built a stone castle down there.. we did not visit.  But it's cool.

The mountain.. sorry I'm not giving my usual details, but we have to head out and begin our next journey.

There are HUGE boulders of granite all over here.. love the green lichen.

This green is one of my favorite colors.

We drove on to Harrahs for a steak dinner on the 18th floor.. oh my goodness my friends.. this meal was one of the best I've ever had!  The flavors were amazing!  The potatoes had garlic butter on top.  The steak was delish!

Here is the sunset I took from the 18th floor after dinner.

We went to the casino and I put $5 in a penny slot machine and in two pushes of two button and in 3 seconds it was gone.  I told Dayle that was it.. no more.. and we headed back to the hotel.  We're ready to go, so I will bid you adieu.  We may be skipping visiting Yosemite as it snowed there yesterday!  We might head on to Las Vegas.  Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping in!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. So wonderful to see my favourite place and to know that you enjoyed it so much!!! That island in Emerald Bay is amazing isn't it, the trees are hundreds of years old and are effectively bonsai trees, incredible aren't they! Hope the next stage of the journey is fun and goes well! xx

I have some photos taken almost exactly from where you stood! The lake is so huge and awe inspiring. I'm enjoying taking this trip with you!

  4. I love your views of Lake Tahoe and I have happy memories of days spent there, too. Did you go swimming? I swam on Wed. and hope that the pool is as calm and empty today as it was then :) I will be sorry if SNOW in July keeps you from Yosemite, but can understand your reluctance to run into poor driving conditions! Thanks for posting! xx

  6. Teresa, I LOVE The trip posts. I thought Tahoe would be more quaint. It seems BIG.
    Lovely water color though.
I want that dinner you had.
As for the green color you love: they have it in Isager Alpaca!

  7. Oh I have never been to Lake Tahoe, it is beautiful. I am so delighted that you are sharing your trip with us, that is so thoughtful. I was assuming that we would be waiting for your return before we saw photos. Oh, that dinner looked so good. What was the glaze on the steak? I haven't eaten today . . . going to the kitchen to make a sandwich, you made me realize how hungry I've become :)
    Have a FUN trip :)

  9. Wow, what a stunning place. Amazing views from just about everywhere. No chipmunks here, they do look ever so cute though. Well done on not getting sucked into the casino. I used to be a croupier and there's a lot of misery in gambling, I've seen it first hand. Your adventure looks brilliant, so glad you're having a good time. I shall look forward to seeing where you go next. CJ xx

  10. What a lovely place to visit. You always manage to get beautiful photos - I love the one where you're looking down at the lake through the trees. The chipmunk is very cute - we don't have them here, or any other animal similar. We have possums but they're more chunky. We used to have a possum living in the trees at the back of our yard and one night he fell onto the roof of a toolshed we have. Made a terrible dent in the roof. He used to make quite a noise sometimes. Haven't seen or heard him for ages now so perhaps he's moved on.

  12. Your photography is wonderful, as always. We have chipmunks all over the place. They come to our birdfeeder and gobble up the seeds on the ground and look very well-fed too. Have a great trip.
