The Best Christmas Ever

Merry Christmas to you!  I strung lights around my young long needle pine that I dug from the woods many years ago and have raised in a pot to be big enough to plant.  This Spring I will plant it here on the farm.  It lights our door.  Welcome!

Last evening the boys got to open two presents.. a pair of candy cane striped pajamas and a Christmas book.

A tradition in the making.. last year Daddy read the book.. this year each boy took turns reading their book to us all.

After the boys were safely snug in their beds.. magic happened and the stockings were filled.  After Kristi was safely snug in HER bed.. some magic happened in her stocking.  :-)

The boys and their daddy had lots of goodies in their stockings.

Kristi even filled our stockings.. Dayle's is the old wool blanket one, Buddy's and mine.. I made mine, patchwork style, several years ago.

One last shot of the tree with all the presents underneath.. and then I headed to bed.

Kristi and the boys kindly left us abed until 8:30 am at which point we were rousted, but Kristi had our coffee made and a cinnamon roll for us each that she baked from scratch.  :-)  Mrs. Santa Claus handed out the gifts.. one for each of us and then another round until all were opened.

The aftermath.  :-)  Everyone was so happy with their surprises!  Kristi was totally surprised by a new laptop of her own, the kind that is either a tablet or attaches to it's keyboard.  We got her some sewing notions and a sewing basket and I'm going to teach her how to hand sew and mend.  The boys got Legos and a fun little toy rifle that makes sounds like it's really shooting - they match the one Kristi got for Travis.  :-)  Dayle got some nice shirts and hats.  I was spoiled with a fountain pen and scent infuser from my daughter and a neat photo album of my grandchildren, a wooden basket made from a tree root and lots of other fun things.

This ornament brought tears to my eyes.. Kristi had it made for me.  I love it.

Dayle got me an old coin.  :-)

We are now comfortably ensconced in our easy chairs and everyone is playing with their new toys.  Travis had fun setting up Kristi's new computer - and she got him a blue-tooth speaker that he can use at work.  The boys are making Lego things by the fire.  All in all a wonderful Christmas.  I hope you had a good one!  What did Santa bring for you?  Do tell!

((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Merry Merry Christmas to you and your family Teresa! We had a great day as well, so much fun to be with a little one. We are trying to teach him how to ride his new bike, he is getting it slowly but surely, not easy with legs that just don't want to do what you want them to. My oldest has been so wonderful and patient, sweating outside while pushing those little legs down to get Little Buddy to understand what to do. It is sweltering here! Still all and all a wonderful day.

Give yourself a hug for me,
    Meredith

  2. Merry, Merry Christmas Teresa! It sounds like you had a wonderful day so far. We've had a quiet morning. We face-timed with all the grandkids, (even Jamie's kids)! No presents were opened. Our cruise next month is our Christmas gift. Dinner will be at friends in a little while. I did some laundry. We shoveled snow that fell again last night. Some knitting on mittens has been done. All in all a bit of a different Christmas for us, but Dennis and I were together and that means everything to me. Much love to you and Cayle.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  4. Hi Teresa! And a very Merry Christmas to you and your family. It sounds like you all had a lovely Christmas! Although I didn't expect it at all, as we really don't exchange big gifts at Christmas, Greg got me a new computer. I wanted a Dell. I loved my previous Dell and this is a nicer one with a 17" screen. I was thrilled as can be. I am eager to get back into the groove of blogging again. I have so missed it!
    Love to you,
    Kris

  15. We had a happy but quiet celebration even though three of the little girls have barky coughs/colds. Some legos and books appeared here, too, and there were some tears of appreciation too for some of the sweet gifts given. This afternoon I went to my monthly art group and we had fun sloshing around paint on paper to make angel themed pictures...so much fun to see all the different results folks had! xx

  16. Love the boys pj's - very appropriate. Also like the idea of getting to open a couple of pressies on Christmas eve. At that age, the suspense must kill the little ones. Our little Oliver had a lovely day and got some nice gifts, as did we all. One of mine (from DD2) was 1kg box of chocolates !!!!! My diet will have to start in 2016. Your grandma sign is gorgeous - what a lovely keepsake for you. xox

  20. How wonderful to see your sweet family all enjoying Christmas together. Ours was quiet . . . I spent most of my Christmas in bed, but after 12 days, I'm finally starting to feel like myself again. Nothing makes you appreciate good health like a spell of being that sick. I still have a cough but nothing like before. Thank you for your sweet comments and encouragement, it meant a lot. Oh, and I loved your whimsical musical lyrics . . . you're so creative.
    Have a lovely day!
    Connie :)
