Daffodils and Shamrocks

I do so love to decorate for the seasons.  The one holiday that I didn't have decorations for, until last year, was St. Patricks Day.  Last year I found a neat little thing with an Irish boy and girl on it... this year I found a cute little Irish girl and boy figurines by Bethany Lowe on eBay and they arrived last week.  Here they are with a little jar the kids found with a bouquet of tiny yellow Narcissus growing in one of my big pots.  I bought a little plant of these a few years ago and planted the bulbs on the deck after they bloomed.

You can see how tiny the Narcissus are compared to the bouquet of big Daffodils on the table.  Oh my do they smell wonderful!

I had this green tablecloth for years and the woven in design looks like Shamrocks, too!

Tiny little baby daff.

Live, Laugh, Dance.. that's the little decoration I found last year.  A good motto.  I even put my little knitting bunny out as her dress has little shamrock shapes all over it.  :-)  I have Scots and Irish blood in me - my g-g-grandfather was a McAlister.  He married an Indian woman.  I always thought it was interesting that my sister was red-haired and freckled and I had an olive complexion with long dark straight hair.  I'm also a lot English.  :-)

Hello!  Can you conjure up the aroma of a fresh-picked garden Daffodil?  Wonderful!!

My son Travis went with me to pick up Dayle from the hospital yesterday before noon.  He's now learning how to negotiate getting in and out of his recliner with his quite painful abdomen - they cut him about 8 inches there are 4 laproscope holes around the large incision.  He's grumpy and snarky but we're taking good care of him.  :-)  I hope you have a great weekend!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Poor Dayle! I hope he feels better soon! I love your adorable Irish decorations. And those Daffs are magnificent! Funny thing is I normally plant my bulbs and sew sweet pea seeds around St Pats Day for spring! "May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks. May your heart be as light as a song. May each day bring you bright, happy hours. That stay with you all the year long."

  2. I sure hope he feels better soon for his sake as well as yours. No fun being in pain especially when you are used to being so active. I hope you get a LOT of rest this weekend my dear Teresa,

  4. Your pretty Shamrock plant photo in your header is a great introduction for this post and your table looks happily springy! I'm still cheering you and yours on to good healthy days. I'm off to go swimming soon, and hope to go to my worship art group tomorrow. xx

  5. I'm so glad Dayle is safely home. Healing always seems to go better when the patient is at home. I do hope he is in less pain very soon. I don't celebrate St Patrick's Day, although all of the city centre bars have jumped on the bandwagon and are using it as a marketing opportunity to sell huge quantities of alcohol. It annoys me slightly that there are huge fake celebrations for an Irish day and almost nothing for the English saint's day. Sorry, didn't mean to come here and rant! Love your little Irish girl and boy though, they look very springlike with the narcissus. Gorgeous daffodils as well, I do think spring must be on the way. I hope you have a good weekend, no doubt you will be staying close to home with Dayle. Best wishes to you both, CJ xx

  7. Oh no! Poor Dayle...and the rest of you too. It's hard on the whole household when someone isn't feeling their best. Love your tablescape, (a new word I just learned this week). The flowers are so happily springy. My knitting bunny is out on my Hoosier cabinet enjoying the sunshine today. I am feeling great today. Maybe I just need to tell you when I'm having an icky day and it will go away! That's what friends are for, right? Have a wonderful weekend Teresa and love and healing prayers for Dayle.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

Being ornery is a very good sign that he's on the road to recovery.
