Hello my friends! We are in our trailer and settled in for a week at the beach. This is our view! Our son, his wife and boys came down to the beach on Wednesday and spent the night in a hotel so they'd be here when we arrived so they could help us set up the trailer. Very nice of them and they had a wonderful time before we got here beach-combing. It was a nice warm sunny day with hardly any wind and they enjoyed themselves.
After all the hookups were done we enjoyed hanging out in the trailer and enjoying the view. Kristi and the boys went down to the beach but the tide was up and the waves were breaking almost right on the rock wall and so they came back up.
Then we all headed south down Highway 101 to Newport to have dinner at Georgie's Grill. The boys ordered hot chocolate and were amazed when a big cup was placed in front of them with whipped cream and a black cherry on top drizzled with chocolate. We all had a nice dinner and then hugged goodbye. The kids were heading out early this morning to go help our middle son pack his house up to move to California. Yes, their house sold really fast and Shawn and the boys drove down to take some furniture to Beth to hold her until all the furniture was moved. They rented a house while he was there. AND his truck was stolen.. then found.. with a lot of damage to it. But they are now back in Vancouver packing for the final move to Temecula, California. Here is the sunset view from our trailer.
And this is how the ocean looks this morning, although it's clearing and getting sunnier by the moment.
Kristi had fun showing me all the treasures they found while walking on the beach. Shells, small pieces of driftwood, agates and BEACH GLASS! To me the sea glass is such a treasure, like the gems of the sea. And I just adore the agates, each one like a jewel.
What a bounty of treasure!
What is your favorite beach treasure? Well.. in Florida occasionally a gold doubloon will wash up on the beach from a ship wreck.. wouldn't THAT be a find? :-)
Do you have agates and sea glass where you go to the beach? Or do you have a beach or sea that you can visit?
I think that blue piece has a lovely shape.
Sounds like great fun and lots of wonderful treasure to be found. As you know I am only a 5/10 minute walk away from the beach and don't go often enough. There is always lots of beautiful shells to collect, which the children love. Have a great break away.
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa it looks absolutely wonderful there and I wish you and \\dayle an absolutely wonderful time. I have only ever found a tiny bit of sea glass despite looking hard - maybe one day :-) Hugs Anne x
ReplyDeleteOh that view, it's absolutely divine. I feel more relaxed just looking at your photos. The sea glass is lovely, especially the blue piece. We have sea glass at some of the places we go to, but blue is quite rare. I hope you have a fantastic holiday. I shall think of you painting and drawing by the sea. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteWhile I have found many shells on various beaches over the years, I have never found such an amazing variety of treasures as Kristi and the boys found for you. First my eyes are drawn to admire the sea glass, then the golden agates, driftwood, and the cone shaped shell is so amazing, too! Thanks for the photos of the sea, also. I'm glad Shaun's truck was found, but sorry it was damaged. It is great that Travis and Kristi are helping with the packing, after helping you get settled to enjoy your week at the beach. Love blooms in and around your family! Wishing you happy creative days ...by the sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea, you and I, you and I, oh how happy we'll be...... [did you hear me singing :) ] xx
ReplyDeleteI know you will truly enjoy your time at the beach, it is so beautiful. That is a big treasure, better than any pirates treasure that is for sure.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you Teresa,
Meredith
That Kristi and your son:) So nice..and so are your views..!
ReplyDeleteThe pics of the treasures are wonderful.
Teresa - what a wonderful place to spend a week. your photos are gorgeous as usual. I love sea glass - it's just amazing what the Lord can do to create it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Judy
We drove through Temecula on our way to Arizona to pick up the biplane project. We stayed the night at a highway hotel/motel - long enough to learn how to pronounce Temecula...Sorry to hear his truck was stolen but glad to hear it was found.
ReplyDeleteCrazy people...
A lovely plate of sea treasures for sure ☺ So glad to hear Shawn's truck was found but sorry about the damage....Beautiful sea views sure can be good to the soul xoxo
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are having a wonderful time. My little grandson gave me a piece of seaglsss he found at Laguna Beach. Temecula is lovely wine country. It's just "over the mountain" from where I live. I hope their move goes well. Have a great weekend, Pat
ReplyDeleteHi again...I am testing to see if I get a bounce back message saying that my comment can not be posted. Hope you are having a lovely time. I got some more Fuchsias planted today and put out two Geraniums I wintered inside :) xx
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your week at the sea Teresa - looks like a very pretty spot.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I've not found sea glass yet. Sigh! Kristi's treasures are lovely. Just don't eat them even though they're on a plate. :'} My find was a couple whole sand dollars years ago. Still have it. And a big rock, like a thunderhead, I found my first time at Bandon. It's white and I keep it out of reach of my grandson cuz I know he'd probably throw it. I just created return address labels for Megan's university grad party invitations. The invitations came today and they are just how I wanted them printed, via Shutterfly! Have a great time at the coast for your birthday!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your beach week. No agate here, but was surprised last time I was at the beach to find many nicer shells than usual. Happy crocheting and creating.
ReplyDeleteHello Teresa, this looks like a wonderful place to spend some time. I sometimes find sea urchin fossils, as well as small driftwood pieces and sea glass on Calshot beach in the south of England but I am always looking for anything unusual. I just love beach combing. Have a lovely weekend x
ReplyDeleteOh I dream about camper life! The ocean is so powerful looking! I love the sea treasures.
ReplyDeleteI love when the glass is worn to a perfect smoothedge in the sand of Lake Michigan. I'm really missing little lakes right now. Im trying to talk fireman into a weekend on a little lake in a little cabin ...this year!
Hi Teresa. What a special spot to camp. Love all of the treasures of the sea!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your son's truck being stolen and damaged so.
Enjoy your weeks away!
xo Kris
How calming to sit by the sea with that view out your window! My parents had a double wide trailer not far from where you are.. their little "beach cabin" that they loved. We spent many happy times there. Never did find the treasures you have found though. I love the beach glass and agates. I guess down in Mendecino, Calif. there is a special beach there for just beach glass that has been tumbled for at least a hundred years! Would be such a treat to go there and find some. I think the blue is fairly rare and I'm amazed that it is right there on the Oregon coast! Have a wonderful relaxing time painting and crocheting.
ReplyDeleteWish I could be there with you Teresa. Looks abby.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful time!! xx
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog and seeing the sights of Oregon makes me feel closer to my daughter since she lives in Oregon> (were on the east coast of the US).
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa. Happy Birthday! I hope you're day is going very well. I'm sorry to hear about the truck being damaged, but glad he did get it back. Not a fun way to begin life in a new place is it? Kristi sure found some beautiful sea treasures, that glass is gorgeous. I don't have to tell you that I would love to be in the camping spot right next to you. :-)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
