Autumnal Falls and Crochet Colors

Hello friends!  Wow, the colors of the leaves here in our area have really exploded into yellows, golds, oranges, reds and browns!  As I drove to Multnomah Falls yesterday I was amazed at how beautiful everything looked.  The maple trees at the Falls were gorgeous!

Almost all the visitors had picked up "bouquets" of maple leaves and one woman even was using a handful of them as a hat during a bit of rain.  :-)  After we'd locked up the Visitors Center I snapped a few photos of the lodge and falls.

7500 gallons of water per second were crashing over the waterfall!

We had such a nice day volunteering yesterday.

A nice couple came in to ask some questions, I asked where they were visiting from, they said Oklahoma.  I asked the lady if she was Native American and she said yes, I asked which tribes she descended from and she told me on both her parents sides she was Kiowa, Caddo, Western Delaware (Lenape-Turtle Clan), Ponca and Lakota Sioux - Oglala Band.  Her name is Jamie and they were telling us about their cabin in this beautiful place and recommended that we visit there next time we're in Oklahoma.  It was Medicine Park in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.  I hope to do that!

When driving home I enjoyed the sun lighting up the golden leaves on the trees.

I ran out of yarn for the little blanket I am making, I have to go get some more of it today.  So, I started a second blanket using the corner to corner pattern.. this colorway is called "Polo" - the most amazing Autumn colors!

This is as far as I got on the other blanket.. I think it will take 3 more skeins to make it square!

When we pulled into the driveway after being gone at the beach for a week I was pleased to see our HUGE Pin Oak tree had turned a glorious red.  :-)

Isn't it pretty?

SO.. the phone saga.  My replacement phone was supposed to arrive on Wednesday but it didn't.. grrr.. so it came while I was at the falls.  I get home and start to set it up but I had a double security system set up - come to find out the security number could not be sent to my computer - the OS is too old!  And I'd taken my iPad to the falls.. and forgot it there!  So, we had to go BACK to the falls IN THE DARK and go into the VC and get it.. came home, tried again, got the code on the iPad.. and finally.. FINALLY.. got it set up.  SHEESH.  Yes, I learned my lesson on not sticking my phone out an open window going 60 mph.  So.. off to swimming I go.... have a GREAT day!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Its always a joy to see the beautiful falls and visitors centre, but even better with the beauty of the changing season. Those beautiful leaves are a joy to behold in all their Autumnal glory. Love both blankets, stunning colours in the yarns. How interesting to chat to a Native American, I would love to learn more about the different tribes. Have a great weekend.

  4. The Falls are so pretty with the trees dressed in their autumn clothes and I really enjoyed "meeting" Jamie. You meet the most interesting people while volunteering. I'm glad you got your new phone and now have it working, albeit with some trials and tribulations! :-). Love both blankets. I'm going to try to find the corner to corner pattern. Have a lovely weekend Teresa!

  6. Autumn in your part of the world sure is pretty. I love the look of your c2c blanket - what brand of yarn are you using? Glad to hear you finally have your phone problem sorted out. Enjoy your weekend. I'm suffering really badly with sciatic pain right down my left leg so I'm about to go back to bed as it seems to be the best place where I get a little bit of relief. xox
