Ahhh.. summer. It was so lovely, warm and pleasant yesterday that I took my crochet basket out on the deck and spent some hours listening to the water and adding more rows on the Sunday Shawl. One more skein of pink and it will be time to start on the colorful lace edging. :-)
Dayle ran some errands and then joined me on the deck. We noticed that our feral cat Simba had come down to the creek for a drink. I must say that a lot of wildlife enjoys the water of our creek and pond. Birds drink and bathe and who knows what kind of wild animals visit under the cloak of darkness. I can say without hesitation that skunks, raccoons, coyotes, deer and possums use it for their drinking fountain. I'm not sure what else!
He kind of looks like a little cougar. We have those in the forests around us but am unsure if one has ever visited our pond. I kind of hope not!
After enjoying our visit to Timberline Lodge so much I decided to join the Friends of Timberline. Just today I received a thank you letter and 2 pins, one for Dayle and me. I will proudly wear this on my Friends of Multnomah Falls vest I wear when I volunteer at the falls. Which I will be doing tomorrow.
Our daughter Amy took our granddaughters to King's Island in Ohio and sent me this photo of them in front of the Eiffel Tower there. I thought... when did they go to Paris? LOL! Jenna is now taller than Amy and Paige is catching up, too. :-)
Dayle just dropped Buddy off at the groomer. We're trying a new one as the last one nicked him badly in a few spots which resulted in us having to take him to the vet! I hope this one is more gentle. Poor little guy is 14 years old now and is getting elderly. But he still can run like a puppy!
What are you doing on this fine day? ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Sports Day here, and a real scorcher, by English standards anyway! I hope Buddy's new groomer was nice. The puppy went in the pond today, so I ended up hosing him off and then combing him. Good job it was so warm, he dried off beautifully. Your deck looks like a lovely place to sit and crochet. I love the sound of water, especially on a hot day. Hope you have a good day at the Falls tomorrow. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely cool spot to crochet Teresa. I couldn't sit out today - so hot. Record temps for June here in uk I don't like it so hot. Your granddaughters are growing up so quickly. I wonder do you have any plans to visit soon? I have been card making in the cool of the dining room. Anne x
ReplyDeleteHave you ever thought of setting up a wildlife camera to view what happens at your pond in the night? Just a thought! Maybe you don't want to know! lol More laundry here today and yard work, but things are looking good!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of your "girls"! We get to see Mandy and Miss Piper next week Teresa! The doctor gave me the go-ahead to drive. Just lots of stops. I cannot wait to see them. Love your photo of "wild" Simba. I often take my knitting and crochet outside both at home and the lake. I love it. These wonderful days of summer are my favorite of the year and now I'm dreading the shorter days ahead. I hope you're enjoying today as well.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
What a nice day! I love sitting outside where I can hear water running. So peaceful and soothing, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThis morning I got four more rows done on the shell on shell preemie blanket at our church stitching group. The ladies love how your pattern looks :) Now I am changing the sheets on my bed and doing a load of laundry. The house is cool with a breeze coming through the front screen door. I still have not seen any birds taking a bath in the birdbath yet. Simba reminds me of the cougar statue at the Cascade Locks Park. I love seeing your pond and waterfall, and especially enjoy seeing your dear girls. Hope you enjoy our longest daylight day today and your time at the Falls tomorrow. π€
ReplyDeleteCatching up on blogreading! :) It was a fine day here as well - beautifully sunny and mildly warm. Back to thunderstorms tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI love crocheting outside where I can hear the wind in the trees. Hope Buddy's appointment went well. :)
Glad you sat in the cool to crochet, what a lovely spot. I can't believe how tall Jenna is now..wow...how grown up your girls are, bless them. Keep cool xx
ReplyDeleteYour decks looks like a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the beautiful pond and your crochet. The girls are certainly growing up fast.

I love that you can sit out by the lovely pond and crochet. No bugs? Good!! You know how to enjoy the seasons one and all Teresa!
ReplyDeletePonds are fun. I like our bird bath...many birds come there. Megan's seen bees and hummingbirds drink from it too. I'm glad the weather is warming up...will be out on Sat at a lavender festival then to a grad party another town...and home where it's cool!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be sitting there right next to you discussing how disgusting our government is. I could use a few hours by the pond in good company. Hugs to you Teresa.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to be crocheting out on the deck. Hope the replacement work on it goes quickly so you can get out there again soon.
ReplyDeleteDoing my blog post catchup after a busy week ☺ My those girls are sure getting tall. Poor buddy hope he went well this time ♥♥ and I would love to see pics of all those animals drinking from that pond of yours xo
