Crab Salad and New Windows

Kristi picked a LOT of crab and served the family a crab salad dinner the other day.  It is soOOoo delicious!

Feast your eyes on this!  She made hard-boiled eggs, had black olives, mini corn, shredded cheddar cheese and lots of fresh crispy romaine lettuce.  Nummers!

This is our family table on most evenings.. a casual and wonderful free-for-all!  LOL!

Did I tell you that we're having our old single pane windows replaced with double paned windows?  Here is the installer after removing the 3 old windows in the living room.

First new window in!  We could not open the old windows and they were not energy efficient in the cold of deep winter.  Now we'll be able to open these and the ones in the dining room for some lovely cross ventilation!

All 3 in.. now he will insulate around them and place some trim to hold them in nicely.  :-)

These are the next to replace, in the dining room.  We have one in the family room/den to go in lastly.  This was phase one, we'll have more replaced as time goes by.  We have 27 windows in this old 1908 house!

State of the Union - I awake each morning to our current "leader?" tweeting threats to his counterpart on North Korea.  Each day we come closer to a global nuclear holocaust.  For those of you living in other countries - I'm sorry.  Please know that I tried my best to talk sense into many people before the election.  I tried.  Now all I can do is RESIST.  In my own way.  But I have to do *something*.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Teresa - although I am not a big crab fan, I can see how those that are would find this mouth-watering to say the least. Congrats on your new windows - you will find they make a huge difference.

  2. I think that crab salad looks delicious and would love a few bites of it. Your house looks wonderful and yes we are headed to war, but I think that its the plan because war unites a country and we are sorely divided with the monster we have in office.

  3. We had new windows put in out old farmhouse last year and what a difference! I know you will enjoy these, likely more than you know! I just don't know what to say about our current leader. What a mess. And, it looks like the mess could get bigger. He doesn't know what he is doing.

As for Mr Trump, I am without words. Wishing us all luck. Hugs to you. x

  5. Your house is very busy at the moment with all the changes, it will be warm and cosy when the winter comes. Please don't feel you have to apologise for the behaviour of that dreadful man, you didn't want him because you knew how he would govern, what a shame that those who voted for him or those foolish people who wasted their votes and didn't vote are seeing what a mess he's making. From over the pond I'm sending you and your lovely family warmest wishes. Fiona x

  6. Is that a butt crack I see? Take a really good look at the back side of the window installer in your first photo. Nice windows! You're sure to enjoy the cross breeze, but get ready for extra dusting.
Great looking crab dishes. Nice job Kristi.

  7. Oh goodness that salad looks delicious. I've never had a crab salad but that my one is making my mouth water. Love the new windows! You're going to love the breeze that you get on your sweet little farm. We took a drive up to the Canadian border today. It was beautiful, if smoky. I hope you have a lovely weekend.
    Blessings, Betsy

  8. You're not going to know yourself once those windows are all finished. I remember having double glazed window installed and the difference they made in increasing the warmth in the house was amazing. That crab salad looks delicious. Here's hoping someone locks and loads Donald very soon!

  9. You will notice a difference with your double glazed (as we call them in the UK) windows...they are very common here and we have had them for 40 years.

Isn't it just incredible, the state of our nation? Every morning I wake up wondering "what now?" Very upsetting.

  11. The windows look great. So nice to see professionals doing a good job. Lots of construction going on around me as folks remodel and build their houses even higher. Big messes everywhere! What is this world coming to? An even bigger mess for sure!

  13. I've never had one of those crab salads before either but it looks delicious! I'll echo some of the earlier comments by saying please don't feel you need to apologize for the human citrus peel. We have our own political ridiculousness over here in Kangarooland. We're sending you all love and hugs. We'll get through this!! xoxoxoxoxo

  16. It is great you are enjoying your harvest of crab and your lovely new windows! Here in NE we have been enjoying a harvest of cucumbers that we processed into various types of yummy sweet and sour pickles. I continue to ask God to empower our leaders to make progress in promoting lasting peace and also I ask God to help us resist falling into despair when it seems that our leaders are failing to promote peace. I am reminded of the lyrics, "let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me." Love to you and yours!!!
