Yarn Gift, Maple Leaves and Girls in Hats

Kristi and Caleb went grocery shopping and came home with two fun skeins of yarn as a gift for me!  Isn't that sweet?  Caleb apparently wanted to get every single color but his mom let him pick two.  :-)

I was so pleased as I'd been eyeing this yarn.  It's a finer gauge yarn, any suggestions of what to make with this?

I do love a variegated yarn!  I bet a Hitchhiker shawl would look neat in this.

The little green leaf Japanese maple trees that my blog friend Kathy gave us are turning a pleasing peachy color.  Both trees are doing well in our front driveway circle.  The ground is covered with leaves from the Walnut tree.

Funny how the leaf drop under the walnut tree went straight down and the pasture beyond is verdant green.  The sun is setting beyond.. a very autumny day.

My daughter Amy got the two girls, Jenna and Paige, together for a photo shoot of the hats I made and sent to them in Ohio.  I hope they enjoy them and the hats keep their heads warm this winter!!

Well.. I must rush to pack my swim bag and head to the pool.  Have a fine day!!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. So good to see the girls enjoying the hats you made for them! I like your new yarn and can imagine it in pretty shawls. The leaves that haven’t fallen yet are still so pretty...even in the rain. xx

  4. Oh my! The teals and gray yarn is over the top...it sings to me! It must be a DK weight? I like to use that for granny squares, and just about anything crochet. Your grand daughters look so cute in their darling hats! Always great to look fashionable while keeping warm. :-)

  5. Ooh, I have the blue/ grey colour, I have just finished crocheting a scarf for my son in it, it was a solid stitch and a bit dull to do, I also got a pink, white grey colourway which I crocheted a scarf for my daughter, this scarf was lacy and looks very pretty. Preparing for our first Chicago winter.

  6. Beautiful girls wearing the hats. They sure look pleased with them. How fun to get a gift of yarn. I almost came home with some of that same yarn the other day too, but I do not need more yarn. One of your shawls would be beautiful in either of those colors.
Our leaves are long gone. Dennis and I did one final rake up over the weekend. Hope you had a great swim.
    Blessings always,
    Betsy

  13. That cake type yarn is lovely but I have found that sometimes, if making a shawl, you have to be careful with which pattern you use. I made my first shawl which was the Doris Chan All Shawl - loved making it but when finished, I found one side was a different colour to the other. The pattern that worked best for me was the Road Trip Scarf (really a shawl) pattern on Ravelry. Lovely pic of the girls in their hats you made. xox

  15. Nice variegated yarn you were gifted. How sweet is that? I like variegated yarn too. It seems to always become a cool color pattern. Leaves are everywhere here too and weather that can't make up it's mind today. At least it's not cold!
